Warning: Cliffhager Def a 4.5 stars read!! The characters have a hard knocked life and surprised to see that they are actually doing time. Love it. Definitely a thriller that you don't want to miss. Finished the book and needed to know what's going to happen next. Love story??.....not at all. Characters did time for crimes they committed/took the fall for and are street smart. The two main characters are trying to live a different life while others like living this life. Jamal destroyed Angela's heart four years ago when he broke up with her without giving her any explaination why he ended the relationship with her and or why he was going to prison for someone. She was heart broken by Jamal decision and turn to drugs for answers which she landed her in prison for two years. She's out celebrating with her new boyfriend and bumps into with an old flame, Jamal. After listening to his explaination why he did what he did and they decide to open up a entertainment club together. While they are in process of getting the club together, something happen to her friend and she's off to see what's going on.Can't wait for the second book R2R

*3.5 Stars*A copy received in exchange for an honest review"He's been the one that had built her up and made her whole, and then shattered her into a million pieces. After he'd left her, it was as though all the life was drained from her, her soul sucked out and body in a wreck"The Narrow Path follows the story of Angela and Jamal. We meet Jamal fresh out of a 4 year prison stint in a club where his ex-girlfriend, Angela, just so happens to be. Angela was a mess when Jamal broke up with her four years prior and has since been in a downward spiral; drugs, alcohol, violence- you name it, she's done it. The entire story is based around Jamal trying to get back into Angela's good graces.Perhaps if there was more of a backstory as to the relationship Jamal and Angela had prior to him being sent to jail, then maybe I would have been able to feel more of an emotional attachment to the characters. We know Angela was left completely broken after he broke up with her, but thats all reader has to go by.The book also seemed to move rather fast. He broke her heart (without an explanation to her as to why) and didn't speak to her for 4 years. Then within a few days of seeing her again, they both are making plans for thier future together. Like I said before, maybe if we knew the depth of their previous relationship then maybe this would have made more sense. Also, for such a short book- there were A LOT of side characters that, for some reason, got a lot of attention in the book. Aside from a few, the reader is left wondering why there was so much focus on these seemingly unimportant characters. Yes, I am aware that this is a series, but there was just too many characters packed into this short read. Overall, I did enjoy this book. Will I read the second book? Yeah. It was an interesting premise and i'd like to see where it goes.

I thought I was going to love this but unfortunately it just didn't work for me.The spelling and grammar mistakes annoyed me and were quite distracting. There was also quite a few instances of poor sentence structure which didn't always make sense so again this caused me to deduct stars. The sex scenes (and accompanied dialogue) were a little cheesy rather than sexy. I read quite a bit of romance and i'm used to reading well written bedroom scenes so it's more noticeable to me when they aren't quite right. While I love a dominating, protective hero (and Jamal was certainly that), I expect the heroine to have some personality and a sense of independence. Angela irritated me. She blamed others (Jamal) for her mistakes and she kept going on about how she couldn't wait to have Jamal take care of all her worries. I love a protective hero, especially one that wants to take care of his partner, I really do, but Jamal wanted to take care of everything and Angela was happy to let him do it. The independent woman in me bristles against that.Despite the things I mentioned above that I didn't particularly like, it was a fun, enjoyable, short read. I would like to see what happens in this series, if there's a sequel, I may enjoy that better.**This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

I was given a free copy by the author for my honest review. So here it is when reading the description I had thought " oh shit this won't have romance in it and it will just be about mob or bikers". I know if you look at the cover of the book you would instantly know it is a romance but that's where I have been mistaken before. Anyhow back to the book I enjoyed reading this book . I liked how the theme of mob/bikers was there but it wasn't so over-powered that it undermined the romance. We meet Angela her character is total tough, strong I hate being all stereotypical but some authors go down that road . By introducing their characters in a certain way like for example they'll say the heroine is a biker chic or punk. She wears all leather, heavy make up and jewellery. The thing that annoyed me the most about this is that everyone is a individual we all have our own lifestyle and they way we want to live it. But when author starts empathizing on the whole routine of the heroine getting ready and how important it is for her like she is putting a mask on . It starts to sound less like a lifestyle and more fake. Well thank god or Alex that this was not the case in book she stuck to the characters traits and by that I mean Angela was introduced as a independent, tough, sexy, wild , risk taker and intelligent women who is deep in the mob, biker crime scene. You got what you read because Angela was like that throughout the whole book and that does not happen usually the author empathizes on the outer look that is all there is left to the heroine character and there is no strong biker chic traits which the author portrayed at first. Nope Angela was the type of character who could be said as your partner in crime because she was an equal with whoever she was . Her character was not overly dependent.Jamal was alpha male, intense, strong, intelligent, hot and he had a bit of anguish lurking in his personality which made even more appealing. He loved Angela with his whole being it was that deep. I liked the fact that he was all tough , non approachable with everyone else but the total opposite with Anglia and I know you would think that would happen because she is the heroine but it never always happens. You get the whole phase of the hero being slightly approachable towards the heroine but not a lot because she is thinking I can't tell him this or that which I hate. But with Jamal you get total honesty, Jamal knows Anglia inside out but he doesn't use that as power which is the best quality in him. See when I say alpha male that traits is like a lurking aspect of him . What I mean is in his every action with Anglia it is not with full control or dominance it's more of thinking what is in best interest for her or in love. Where in most books when you read alpha male you think oh god it's the whole ridiculous , overpowering fifty shades of grey bullshit again. But not with this book.So would I recommend this book yes Alex has done the complete opposite to whatever you think when you see mob, biker as a theme. He has gave us two strong independence individual characters.I can't wait to read more.My view of the characters Angelia http://celedir.dark-nighteyes.net/ima...Jamal http://www.malemodelscene.net/wp-cont...

First of all I would like to thank Alex for asking me if l'd like to read & review this book......Wow, for a first book, this story was incredible. I honestly did not want this book to end. Of course it ends in a cliffhanger. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. Angela was such an intriguing lead character. I really loved her tuff, take no crap from anyone attitude. It starts with Angela trying to start over after a two year stint in jail. She also just participated in a heist with her current & much younger lover Romy. Enter her former boyfriend Jamal, who had broken her heart when he left her without an explanation. He has just been released from four years in jail. They decide to go into business & run a strip club. I really enjoyed the roller coaster l was on. Once I had the time to read this story l really couldn't stop. I NEED the next book NOW. I love a suspense/thriller/romance book with hot scenes. Well done Alex, I cannot wait to read the rest of this truly fantastic series. An absolute must read.Once again a big thanks for allowing me to read this story before it's released

What's a ride!! I just finished this book and didn't want it to end!! BEWARE THIS ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER!!!!! I was asked by this author to read and review this book and I was blown away!!! This is not your typical love story where the characters come from good or bad homes and get together. These characters al come from the streets and have spent time in prison for various crimes. The two main characters are trying to change their lives while others like living this life. Jamal broke Angela's heart four years ago when he broke up with her without telling her why, he was going to prison for someone. She fell into disrepair and found solace in drugs which she ended up doing to prison also for two years. After scoring a lot of money in a con she is out celebrating with her new man and she runs into Jamal. After hearing his story and him hers they decide to open up a strip club together, but while this is going on something happens to Her friend and she need to find out what.Like I said this ends on a huge cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next!!I was given a copy of this book for a honest review...

Very intriguing! As soon as I read the blurb for this book I knew it was going to be one that I loved! I was extra lucky to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.Angela's life has been spiraling out of control since the love of her life left her high and dry. Just as she is about to sink even deeper he comes back telling her he wants to make it up to her and help them both stay free of the dangerous life. There is quite a bit going on in this story and you get pulled into it very easily. The characters are unique and interesting. The actual rating I would give is 4.5 but since we dont have the option of half stars I rounded up. The only reason I say 4.5 and not 5 is becase the begining is a bit wonky It almost seems like the story starts a few chapters in or something but you catch on very quickly and its not hard to follow at all.I cant wait to see what happens next!

"Angela is celebrating a successful heist, when the last person in the world she wanted to see waltzed back into her life.Years ago, Jamal ripped her heart out and tossed it on the ground. But he's back, beefed up from prison and wanting to make amends for dumping her."This synopsis pretty much sums up the plot to the first part of this serial by Alex Abbott...add in a brooding weak man of an EX BF, a bunch of noisy bikers with one having an eye for Angela, some inquisitive police officer and a whole lot of illegal and mostly legal activities and you get the recipe for this at times fun and at times very sexy little novella.I'm not a big fan of short serials that only give part of the story and leave the reader confused or in the dark (I had a really hard time getting into it at first) but once the scenes were set and more of the past was revealed, it became more clear what was going on.This is a story about second chances, making amends and maybe finding romance with someone you thought you were over and done with.I am hoping for more character and plot development in the rest of the series!I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**** 4 **** "it's never really too late to find love again" stars

First off, I'd like to thank the author for letting me read this for an honest review. And now to read it :)Update:So I finally got a chance to read this after a very long week of reality, and happy to say that it was pretty good. It was indeed very short, about 80 pages long. The story picks up right after Jamal leaves prison and reunites with Angela, so there's not much building up to the romance. It's actually really quite sweet.Overall, I thought the author's writing was great and easy to follow. A few sentences here and there were a little awkward, but reading was smooth. However, I felt that the characters (because the story was so short) could have used a little more fleshing out as they sort of felt flat. There was so much more I wanted to know about Jamal, and I wish we didn't glass over so much about the past few years. The beginning was pretty slow, but the buildup to the end was great. I actually liked Romy, for all his mislead and impulsive ways (for the longest time I thought he could care less for Angela other than arm candy). As for Vitaly, well I think he was the most interesting out of everyone and I hope we get more information about him.Ah well, all in all, a solid 4 star book.

Alex Abbott is a fabulous author, and I like to thank him for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for my honest opinion, which is exactly what I'm giving you. The story as well for the characters, are all well written. I had a hard time putting it down, but even harder when it was over, because it left me screaming for more, and that was my only problem. Jamal (sigh) sounds like the dream boyfriend we all wish to have at some point in our lives. The way he looks after Angela, shows all the love and regreat about letting her go 4 years ago. He thought he was doing the right thing by setting her free, but he had been wronged. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved and enjoyed this story. It had me hooked from the beginning and I cannot wait for the next book in the series to be release. Have in mind that this is a series, so expect cliffhangers. I really love this book, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next in store. I highly recommend it if you are into mafia romance novels, that contains strong themes of mature situations like explicit sex scenes, and violance among rival gangs or groups.

** I received this ARC for my honest review. **This is my honest review. I loved Angela and Jamal's story, and the idea of getting a second chance at love. These two people seem to have fought / struggled their whole life and now want to turn their life around. They seem to be meant for each other. Their story is not your traditional / typical romance, but I don't have problem with that. Angela is spiraling down after Jamal broke her heart 4 years before. She is using drugs, alcohol, and sex to drown her feelings. Angela is becoming more involved with the mafia as well. She is celebrating a heist with her new lover, Romy, when Jamal walks into the club. Jamal just got out of prison and came looking Angela. He is a sexy, bad boy looking to make things right and collect what he's owed. Jamal is willing to fight for or wait for Angela. He wants to protect and take of her. When he hears she went to prison, Jamal feels like he needs to do more for Angela. While they are checking out a strip club to buy, they have hot, steamy sex. I can't wait for the next book. I hope the next book explains what happened to Romy and learn more about Vitaly?

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This is a very good beginning of this series, just a bit confused when Lana spoken English with a Russian accent but I understood that after a few sentences but it was a great story. Angela served 2 years in prison but is out and trying to get her life on the right track even through she just stolen 10 G's with a younger brought of a mob boss. But after her heist she goes to a dance club with her lover Romy but it's a night for surprises, first her lover wants to get her into the coke scene when she got out of, second her long lost love Jamal comes back into the picture after 4 years where he was in prison for someone else. But Angela feelings for Jamal is so confused after what he did to her before he disappeared but she has some feelings for Romy also but there is so mush about Jamal that she doenst know yet and things she wished she could for get. I cant wait to read more, first time of reading Mr. Abbott writing and it wont be the last.

5 years ago, Angela’s world turned into a self-destructive path when the man (Jamal) she believed loved her as much as she loved him….left her. She drowned herself deeper into the world they had once shared, a life of theft, drugs, sex and mobs. It eventually leads her to 2 years in prison and a little different outlook as to what she should do with her life when she gets out, but life is not quite cooperating. Unable to get a job because of her criminal past she hooks up with Romy and starts to head into the life again of being associated with mob characters. Until Jamal returns. Interesting characters and a bit of a dark sided storyline. Love it. This book is somewhat fast paced and drew me in from page one. Packed with a lot from the past and what’s to come from this heroine and YES I will be reading the rest of this series and so should you. I was given an ARC from the publisher via Goodreads in exchange for an honest review

My first book by this author. I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I truly enjoyed reading about Angela & Jamal's second chance. They are former lovers reunited after Jamal's 4 year stint in prison and his breaking Angela's heart by leaving her & not telling her he was going to jail. After he leaves her , Angela's life falls apart to drugs, cons & she ends up in Jail as well for awhile. When they see each other again it's in a club where Angela is celebrating her & her new lover Romy's heist that gave her a $10,000 windfall. Angela never stopped loving Jamal and once they see each other he tries to make things right between the two of them leaving Romy not too happy. Bikers, criminals, strip clubs....all sorts of things going on and maybe a possible love triangle coming up in next book with a biker named Vitaly who has his eyes on Angela as well. All in all, I wasn't bored and can't wait until the next book... Dying to see what happens next....

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review so I just want to say thank-you the author for that. I really enjoyed reading the book and can't wait to find out where the rest of the story will take us? The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I wished it had been longer. I realize its a series and we will find everything out in the next installments however the story starts with a policeman or a detective asking Angie questions and the end of the story doesn't even at least link up to that moment. I have a lot of unanswered questions as to how all the characters link together that I wish were answered in the first installment. Bottom Line- I liked Jamal and Angie together, the story was written well, it kept my interest but it felt more unfinished to me than a true cliffhanger.

I would first like to thank Alex for asking me to do this review. I really enjoyed this book, their are a bunch of different elements flowing through this book. I like how Jamal came out of prison with a renewed sense of self and his only goal has been to be a better man not only for himself but for Angie as well. I could feel for Angie and the delimma she faces having feelings for both Jamal and Romy. I look forward to seeing how this story progresses, with the characters, the author describes them very well that I have a such a clear image of them in my mind while I was reading this story, they instantly had me hooked in their lives and can't wait for more.

I received this book for my honest review. Rating 3.5-4 starsAt first it was very difficult to figure out what was going on and who was who, but around 40% I got who all the main players were. Romy and Angela fling was just that a short fling and then enters Jamal and you could tell they had a history or a past and I would have like a little more background in that past. Like why was Jamal in jail or why did Angela go to jail as well. Vitaly is an interesting character and I would like to read more on this story. Great read just need a little more history.

***ARC received in Exchange for an Honest Review***I found myself really enjoying this one, it does end on a cliff hanger. (So be warned) it was a fast paced, easy read. I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen next with all of the characters (not even just the main characters) I would defiantly recommend this book it is a well written, suspenseful ride that will keep you wondering what will happen next, I can't wait for the second installment to come out to see what happens with Angela and Jamel. (And especially what happened with Romy) All and all great read!

So this book overall is a 3.5 for me. The only reason it is a 3.5 and not higher is because it starts off slow and to me a book needs to start off and catch me fast. Now with that said the book definitely picks up, especially the end. It has the bad boys that I love to find in my books and this first one has led up to an end that has the potential to make the next few books filled with fun, action, lots of sex and even more bad boys. Although cliff-hangers piss me off, I am now sitting here wanting the next one which is exactly what I like to feel!!

I received an arc of this book from the author for an honest review. Warning: cliffhanger! I really liked this book. the characters all seem to have been involved with the inner belly of society. whether it be drugs, prostitution, guns, or stripping just to name a few things. The main two characters have also served jail terms. But will Jamal and Angela find love again, will it work out, and will they be able to become legit business owners. These are all thing we will have to learn. Can't wait for the next installment!

Make sure you enjoy reading serials before starting as it does end on a cliffhanger. I loved the book, and was able to get a good feel for each of the characters as the story progressed. It's a story about a girl trying to get her life back on track, and failing miserably. She runs into an old flame who's break up with her started the whole downward spiral. Can she get over her anger and hurt feelings to give him a chance or will she punish him for trying to ensure her happy life?

Too Rushed! needs more developmentOkay I have so many issues with this story, first the book is less than 150 pages which is very difficult to give the reader a true book especially one that is suppose to be suspenseful and thrilling. Spoiler alert.... it's neither, the only "suspenseful" part of the book is the very end literally the last 5-6 pages that's it and there is a cliffhanger. Second, the book is termed as being a romance but same as with the suspense part, there is not enough storyline to fully connect with the characters which leaves them lackluster and one dimensional. This book need sooo much more backstory so one could really connect with the love Jamal and Angela had had and the pain Angela felt losing Jamal like she did, but you don't get that so those feeling and emotions that would have given the characters dimension were just rushed like an after thought. Third, the book for being less than 150 pages has so freakin many chapters some chapters are less than a page long which makes them pointless, put some *** or something to separate the information from the previous and make it part of the previous chapter and make it one of its own and waste part of a page with a huge CHAPTER .. on it. Finally, there were parts of the book that made no sense in the full scheme of the book, for example the point of Javier and Svetlana being included so much, yes I know they could appear in a later book since this one ended with a cliffhanger, but I still feel it should have been worked out more or them featured less. Okay those are some of my issues, the major ones... but you may notice I didn't give it a one star rating and that is because the story line is not a bad one it just was badly executed. This storyline had so much potential, and what was actually written by the author was enjoyable and the fact they I wanted more has to show that I enjoyed what little I was given. So it has a good storyline but it's frustrating that so much was rushed and it fully developed.

After Jamal broke up with her, Angela spent two years in prison. Now she was celebrating with Romy about their successful heist when Jamal showed up at the bar. She couldn't hold a decent job because of her record and she'd been fired from her crummy job. When Jamal convinced her to co-own a stirp club, the temptation of it was one she can't ignore. When they meet day after day to get the club in order, they have get over all the lies and secrets of their past or be sucked back into a life of crime. I am so glad that this is just book one as it left me longing for more.

I would give this more of a three and a half. It is not a bad story, it is just book one in a series, and lots of facts need to be established. I liked the story for the most part, I just had a little trouble with some of the word choices. They ran from terms you see in a historical romance, like cunny, to those found in a lot of erotica. It was just their use together that interrupted the flow for me. The characters take a bit to warm up to, but I am curious to where the story is leading, so I am hanging in. It does take a fun turn toward the last third of the book that kept me turning the page.Angela is seeming to be hitting the bottom. She has cash from a heist, a young boy toy as well, but she is heading toward drugs and no good pretty quickly. It has been 4 years since her world was turned upside down. That was when her everything, Jamal up and left her.Romy is a young, cocky guy who has been seeing Angela for a bit. He deals drugs and knows how to party. He and Angela did a heist together, but they never talked much about the relationship. It was more physical than anything.Jamal dumped Angela four years ago because he knew he was going to prison to protect his friends. Now he is out and wants to pick up where they left off. Prison was actually good for him, got stronger, got a bit older, figured out what he wants in life and who he wants that with.Angela is sliding towards drugs after the heist. Romy scores some coke and as they are heading out of the club, they run into Jamal who has just gotten out of prison. He was heading to see the boss, he was going to be rewarded for not turning on them. Angela is turned upside down because she didn't know why he left her. After they spend some time together, Jamal brings her home so she can think about things and Romy sees them together. That does not go over well, and that is a whole new problem she is not aware of. But seeing Jamal again sets her world right. They have so much history, and with Romy's outburst, she is free to do what she wants. Jamal wants to open a strip club with her, and he goes about explaining things to Angela. Throw in a couple of rival gangs too close for comfort, plus the world they live in, and no one is truly safe. This book does end in a bit of a cliffhanger, so be prepared. But it is worth the read. It is a good book that I think will be better as the second book is added. Definitely a series, this one lays the groundwork and is why my star level is where it is.

The Narrow Path (The Dangerous Men #1)By: Alex Abbott3/5 stars**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**Jamal is just getting out of prison after a 4 year stint and after breaking up with Angela, without telling her that he was taking a fall so that she wouldn’t feel the need to stay faithful or pine over him for the long amount of time. But now that he is out, he has every intention of inserting himself in Angela’s life. Partially to make up for how he wronged her and partially, because he wants her back.Angela had a hard time after Jamal dumped her and disappeared. She went down a bad path and found her own trouble along the way. She’s lost her jobs due to her criminal record and has been unable to find gainful employment, which leaves her few options other than the criminal life. But when Jamal walks back in, he’s determined to pull her out of that lifestyle & provide a future for them. The book starts out and then jumps back to a week ago, and we’re introduced to Javier & Svetlana, but we don’t really know where they fall in the story. So there was some confusion. Sometimes it was a little hard to tell from which character’s POV we were getting. I liked the characters of Jamal, Angela & Vitaly. They’ve all had somewhat of a hard life, yet they are also survivors and I admire that they are working on making a better life for themselves. There were some missing words, and wrong punctuation or it was the missing the question word. There were some other small grammatical issues. You can feel the bond between Jamal & Angela. But I still felt like I was missing out on the how and why their relationship was so close and why Jamal seems to know exactly how Angela is feeling and how he can read everything about her, even after 4 years of separation. I would have liked if there would have been more to this book, so that we could see their relationship grow and how Angela fell apart when Jamal broke up with her so that we could feel the angst & relief of them seeing each other again. This ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger, and I want to see where the series goes from here! I’m especially intrigued by Vitaly and want his story!

I was given a free copy by the author for my honest review. Thanks to Alex for giving me the opportunity!I'm having a hard time rating this one but not because it was bad. I don't typically read serials unless I have all of the books because, just as they get really good, they end and you have to wait for the next book, such as the case with this one. (I've never been known for being a patient person :) ) I'm teetering between 3 and 4 stars but feel it does deserve 4. I think the fact it's a serial and therefore, left hanging and slightly confused is why I would even think a 3, not the author's fault, just my own preference there.I really liked the characters because frankly, they're real. I've read so many books where I just want to claw my eyes out because the characters are just annoying fluff. I rarely read a book where I actually like the female lead but, I really like Angela. She hasn't had the best life but she doesn't whine about it. She knows what she needs to do to watch out for herself and make her life what she wants it to be and just does it. Jamal...well, who wouldn't love Jamal?!The opening with Javier and Svetlana was a little out of place but as you read, it's building a back story that I'm sure will advance in the next book. That's where the difference between a novel and a serial come into play, we just don't have the whole story yet.The story itself has some really good potential and I'm looking forward to the next book!I did have a little trouble connecting and getting drawn into the book but I think that's because I typically stick with books written in 1st person POV, and this one is not. Overall, great book, and I look forward to the next one.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. When I started this book I had no real clue what is was about, however I did get into fairly easily. The only problem I had with this story is the first chapter does not seem to go with the rest of the book. Due to the fact that this is a series book this chapter might make more sense later. This book ends on a cliffhanger so you will need to wait until the next book to figure out really where this book is going. This book starts out with Angela getting a visit from a police officer. They talk for a bit and then the 2 chapter of the book goes back 1 week. Here is where we meet Svetlana and Javier, we do not know at this point who either of them are but who Javier comes to light later on. They are at Javier's club and while there he sees Romy and Angela. We later figure out that Angela is the center of this story and everyone else are they people that are associated with her. The next person we meet is Jamal Khalil. Jamal is Angela's ex-boyfriend and the man who might just hold her heart. Jamal has been in jail and has just gotten out he knows what he wants and will do anything to make that happen. There are many twists and turns in this story and it seems like there is a lot of information given in this first book but you are not sure how it all falls together. I would recommend it but would advise that you wait until the entire series is out because I was a little lost with all of this information but no real connection for it all.
