The Vengeful (The Vengeful, #1) Reviews
Slowly the author builds suspense making the reader eager to turn the next page. I like how the author puts Zack who was a third wheel when it came to hanging out with his brother and his girlfriend is at the forefront by starting with chapter two. I love the underdog becoming the hero in books, it keeps it realistic and down to earth. The town Zack and his brother live seems more of a Stepford community, no one notices when the Vengeful arrive with the exception of Zack and his brother. The plot is slow paced, for short book, sort of tranquil read with a very decent premise, perfect for a comfortable weekend afternoon read.
Ok, so this is a short first novel beginning the series. I won't lie, the creeptastic is pretty awesome. I was so intrigued by the Vengeful. And wait til you find out who and what they are and how they came to be. I loved this story and how, even though it's short, it leave you wanting more and being satisfied at the same time. Our main character happens to be Zack, but there's other good characters in there. You see, it all started with a freak lightning storm. And Zack fell into a parallel universe. It looks just like his, except majorly creepy with Vengeful. Even his dad is there, except his dad isn't his dad here. Maybe I shouldn't tell you too much because I don't want to spoil things. It gets complicated when Zack wants to rescue his brother but two warring sides are telling him two different things. Who's right, or wrong? I can't tell you! LOL You gotta read this one on your own! Also, if you check out the author's website, she has some cool links to get freebies. You should check it :) With that said, I liked the writing style. I liked the action that surrounded Zack, poor kid, he was just a computer nerd. But not anymore!! Well done, and I look forward to seeing where this one is going to go from here! I want book two! :) 4.5 PAWS!!
The Vengeful is an interesting Sci-Fi adventure. Our hero, Zack is transported into a mirror copy of our world. While it's the same, there's enough differences to alert Zack that something is very wrong. When his brother Jake goes missing, he knows he must do everything in his power to get him back. The story is filled with action and seemed to be pretty fast-paced. While the pace is quick, there's very little confusion of what's going on and the reader has no choice but to want to turn page after page to find out what happens next.I would recommend this book to any lover of alternate dimensions, whether young or old, this book is sure to please fans of the genre.I look forward to reading the next book in the series.I give this book 5 of 5 paws.
I won a digital download part of the Spring Fling giveaway, so here's my review. Fast read intelligently written with all the excitement a fantasy YA should have. I also could call it partly Sci-Fi too. Very detailed descriptive which made it easy to see how it plays out in my mind. The Vengeful scared the bejesus out of me, slicing and dicing soul suckers. Wait did I get it right? Yep! Good entertainment. But wait who do you trust? Which side will you choose? The orb, ooh... yes I forgot about the orb. I enjoyed every chapter and you will too. Thank you, Darlene CruzI like the cover so vengeful....
A fast paced, fantasy adventure featuring Zack, a teenage boy who is pulled into another dimension which contains creatures called the Vengeful who steal souls. Can he navigate this new world and save his brother? Highly recommended.
