Hotness Rating 3 out of 5Last Resort is a very interesting start to the Grayton series. I found the setup for the future books intriguing and am looking forward to reading more of this fascinating family. The Grayton family is made up of rescued children saved from abusive beginnings. Each story highlights one particular kid's (now adult) life. I love that all of the siblings play a part and have remained as close as biological siblings often do.With Last Resort we get Cassey's story. Cassey, ironically was the last child rescued essentially making her the baby of the family. She is a strong woman that has overcome a terrible beginning, but it's not left her bitter or hard. I am sure that's all thanks to the amazing love she's received from the Graytons and her siblings. She works hard and has always dreamed of running the restaurant/club that has been in her family for years. Her aunt has passed away and now it's Cassey's turn to make her mark. The problem is her business isn't thriving as much as it did in the beginning and she's being constantly bombarded with buyout attempts. Luke is a character that I loved!!!! Raised with money yet is not in the slightest bit jaded and entitled. He's a hard worker, is ethical, and has a really good heart. After losing his brother Luke was basically thrown into the position that his brother previously occupied as heir to the family legacy. The problem was he didn't particularly want or like his new role. His father was not the easiest of men and didn't have any of his son's ethics or kindness. This was made more than apparent when he set his sights on Cassey's business and gave Luke orders to get her to sell.I love that the author didn't throw in any unnecessary drama. Luke was loyal, honest and loving from the minute he decided that Cassey was for him. Even though his parents were less than ideal he was still a good son, but also up front with his feelings and was his own man. He didn't let threats of losing his inheritance or money sway him. He and Cassey were perfect together. They just seemed like a comfortable and sweet unit from the go. I can't wait to read more about the Grayton family.

The start out of this book will leave you with your mouth open. Cassey did not have a good start in life. All that changed when a wonderful lady took her away and placed her in a loving home. As she grew up she knew she wanted to make this family proud of her and help others just like her. She now starts over getting the old family business up and running along with helping to support a program to help child like her and her brothers. One man comes along and wants to take all that way from her or does he? Luke comes in cocky and in control just like his old man. Cassey turns the tables on him and she might find is he isn’t so bad after all. The author gives you two people trying to live up to their parents. Cassey for what they did for her and Luke for what he thinks he owes them. I really liked both these characters they are both strong but weak, both caring and loving and both want a better world. The question is how far both will go to get what they want. Cassey is a strong lady she doesn’t give up easy and gives Luke a run for his money. I love their sense of humor and found this a very humorous read at times.Roy Samuelson does a really good job of narration at first I just wasn’t sure about a male voice. His characters voices are wonderful and full of emotion. You have no trouble telling who is talking and what they are feeling. I heard no background noise although I did hear a few changes in tone when I believe he took a break. His female voices were a delight he pulled them off wonderfully. I have listened to other audios by this narrator and have always been impressed by his work. I really look forward to listening to more by Mr. Samuelson.I thought the author gave a wonderful read that really touches your heart. I feel many will be able to relate to these characters and may have been in the same place as Cassey. It is a powerful read with powerful chemistry both from the main characters and Luke’s family. I really didn’t care for his father and I was on the limb on his mother. Really she turned out to be a sweet lady which really shocked me.I thought this was well written with a lot of thought put into the story. The author puts a lot into a short listen never leaving the read behind or guessing to what happen in the past. Luke’s might start out pushy rich boy but it doesn’t take long to see just where his heart is and just what he thinks of his world. It might shock you to the reason he goes along with his family. There isn’t anything his family won’t do to keep him in line. He really has some tough decisions to make. There are some pretty hot scenes along with some very touching ones. I think most will find this an entertaining read.

Cassey was taken from her home 15 years ago and saved by her guardian angel Lilly. Years after being saved, she's now the owner of a bar and grill on the boardwalk, and has a loving family that is there to support her in what she does. Flash forward two years later and her business is having problems, and the big resort owners are trying to buy her out. Cassey refuses to sell her land, and when Luke, one of the buyers enters her life, she does everything she can to ignore the attraction to him, and not let him in.Luke and Cassey are definitely attracted to one another, and the more Luke gets to know Cassey the more he knows what his father wants him to do is wrong. He is falling hard for her, yet she doesn't want commitment. I loved seeing Luke squirm his way into Cassey's life, and her loosening some of the walls she built up around herself. When she starts to open up about her past and her childhood with Luke, I knew no matter how much she denied it, she had feelings for him as well.At times their relationship seems to move fast, but then again, this book moves pretty fast throughout the weeks and months that it covers. Luke learns a lot about himself being with Cassey and starts to work on his own goals as well as help Cassey save her business. The two of them opened up a lot in this book and we got to see both characters step out of their comfort zone and grow a lot in this story.I adored Luke and Cassey together and seeing her brothers accept Luke like he was one of them. As much as Cassey tries, Luke is a force to be reckoned with, and he definitely makes her fall in love with him. I really liked how once Luke got to know Cassey his father's wishes seemed to disappear, and all he cared about was keeping this girl happy. This is a sweet romance that will definitely give you the feels. I loved Luke and my heart went out to Cassey and her brothers with everything they have been through. They all deserve their happily ever afters, and I can't wait to read the other books in this series so I can hopefully see that. Luke and Cassey's story definitely finishes with a HEA and I couldn't be happier with how Last Resort ended!

It’s been 15 years since Cassey was saved from the hell that was her life for her first seven years. Now at 22, she is looking forward to starting her future as a business owner by fixing up the run down dance club that had been in her family for years. With help from her brothers and their knowledge of carpentry and her business knowledge, she opens what quickly becomes one of the most popular spots on the boardwalk but when a local hotel owner sets his sights on taking over the boardwalk, he makes trouble for not just her but other business owners as well. She’s determined to keep her business and won’t be backed into a corner and forced to sell.Luke had never been his father’s favorite. That title had belonged to his brother but he’s determined to make his father see that he can be a great businessman as well so he sets his sights on the Cassey’s Bar & Grill but it only takes one look to know that his plans were going up in smoke because there was no way that he could take anything from this women.Cassey’s childhood story made me cry! It was a horrible start with a happy ending. I loved her relationship with her brothers and I truly hope that this book is the beginning to another fantastic series by Jill Sanders because not only to I want more of her brothers but I also want to know what happened to her sister.

I'm so glad that I stumbled onto this series. I was recently given the third book in the series, but since I'm a little OCD I just had to seek out and start the series at the beginning. I'm thrilled with my decision. The author wove a wonderful story about interpersonal relationships between her characters and their families, friends, coworkers and the community in which they live. It was believable and well developed. I was truly cheering Cassey on to be successful in her endeavor to revitalize not only her Aunt's bar, but to turn it into a wonderful bar and grill that helped anchor all the other businesses on the boardwalk. The steamy romance between Cassey and Luke was a nice side benefit that wove perfectly into the story to bring the big entities that threatened the "mom and pop" businesses into focus. If you have ever read books that visited Cedar Cove, Fool's Gold or Rose Harbor and liked those, then you will love adding this book to your reading collection. I look forward to the next book in the series and can't wait to get to the one I was actually given!

I loved her brothers and would love to see more on them. And the locals rocked. Ms. Jill has a knack for story telling. She just yanks me right in and I can't help but feel like I'm part of the story. Five huge sunny, sandy and salty stars. Wow! New author for me and the start of a new series to boot. I love family stories and absolutely love the beach, so this was an all-around win for me on every level. The romance was adorable. Cassey so deserved a wonderful and loving relationship...and Luke needed one. I liked the conflict. The business world often has sharks and this one ran into a stronger family of them in a larger species. Too cool! Really deeply felt strongly about both of their tattoos...I enjoy knowing the meaning behind symbolic items, especially something you have chosen to mark you permanently. This story gave me the warm fuzzies. I could truly connect with the characters and felt drawn in to the family dynamics involved. I think I'm in love with all three of the brothers, so am anxiously headed to start book two of the series.ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

What a fantastic start to the Grayton Series. What starts out as Luke wanting to purchase Cassey's bar and grill quickly becomes more as the sparks fly between the two. Cassey is such a strong, fierce heroine. She has made something of herself, and refuses to let anyone take that from her. Luke is an awesome hero, who would do anything to make Cassey happy, including going against his parents wishes. This was such an emotional book, given Cassey's past and how it still comes to haunt her sometimes. It drew me in, had me falling in love with the Grayton's, and seeing some come to terms with what really matters in life. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great, emotional romance read

Cassey just opened her dream Bar & Grill when the cocky guy decides he's going to try and take it all away from her but he doesn't know she is determined to keep her dream alive and open for a very long time. Luke is working on orders from his father the buy up this property but what he doesn't know is that he is going to come face to face with the most beautiful woman he has set eyes on. Luke thinks this will be a quick deal but he is wrong on so many levels. He finally is starting to get to know Cassey and he is developing deeper feelings for him than he originally intending on having. Can Luke keep his personal life separate from his work life or will he have to make life altering decision to be able to stay Cassey??

Unexpected Feelings!!!Thank you very much, Jill Sanders for this beautiful novel.....You've outdid yourself with this one, loved how despite Cassey and Luke's effort to keep things between them only physical.....They both found themselves falling in love with each other.... Luke breaking away from his father and letting Cassey know that he could never be just friends with her cause he wanted much more was executed perfectly.... The way Cassey got over her fear of getting to emotionally close to someone was well done.... Love the bound between Cassey, Marcus, Cole and Roman.....Can't wait for what's to come for The Graytons...Looking forward to the new series.

Once again, Jill Sanders has written a brilliant book. I hope there will be more books about the Graytons as I would love to read more about them and their backgrounds.Cassey was rescued 15 years ago and is now the owner of the local bar and grill. Along with other shop owners, Cassey has seen a downturn in business since the local council stopped the shuttle buses. Luke has been sent by his father to buy Cassey's place at the lowest possible price, but is soon sent packing by Cassey. However, Luke is not one to give up and he keeps trying, but he soon realises that there is more to Cassey and her family then he knows and goes against his father in more ways than one.

Here's another book written by Jill Sanders which I've just finished reading this morning. LOL! I must say that it was an interesting book to read but I'd prefer Loving Lauren more because I loved the stubborn character a lot. Anyway, Last Resort still a nice chick lit novel to read as I found some 'laughable' parts. It's an adult romance novel, and you can expect it's like a '50 Shades of Grey' thingy. Readers will definitely enjoy this book.

The characters of Cassey & Luke are very likable, however, I felt like the story was too predictable. I hate to say that because I love all of Jill Sanders' books. I still give it 4 stars because it was well written and enjoyable. I just felt like I knew everything that was going to be happening with it. I do look forward to more books in the series because I thought that the brothers were very supportive of Cassey and they have a great relationship. I'm hoping we learn more about her sister as well. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This was one the best books I've read in a long time. I had the pleasure of Beta reading this book, and the funny thing is I have not been able to get the book out of mind. LOVED the characters! They were so real! Loved Casey's relationship with her "brothers". Like I said, this was probably one the best sweet romance I've read in a long time!! Jill scored a perfect 10....or in this case, a perfect 5stars.

Luke's father wants the boardwalk. He will do anything to get it. Cassey has opened the Boardwalk Bar & Grill and nobody is going to buy it out from under her. She doesn't trust Luke, but is attracted to him. She knows that in the past she has kept her heart out of a relationship and she can do it this time. Slowly but surely, Luke has wormed his way into her heart. Can they get around his father and have a happy life?

I would totally recommend this book. Jill Sanders wrote another great story about how families are made from wonderful foster parents that are still out there. Cassey made her life into something wonderful from what she came from. The love that grows between her and the enemy is is truly surprising. Jill Sanders depicted the characters very true to real life and what really happens. I couldn't wait to get to the next book in the series Someday Beach!

A great start to another awesome series.. Cassey had the worst upbringing, at a young age she was found hiding after running away from the hell that was her life... being placed in a loving family helped her, but she finds it hard to trust... Luke walks into her life to try convince her to sell her bar for his father to demolish, but Luke finds himself falling for her.. it a great story of one woman's struggle to love and one man's struggle to be loved... Jill Sanders never fails to deliver!!

DNF @ 18%. I didn't need longer than that to come to a conclusion about this book: it's bad.In fact, the quality of the prose is so awful it angered me. Among the flaws I noted were repetitive sentence construction, awkward similes, dangling modifiers, and unnecessary apostrophes. Did anyone edit this? The icing on the cake was at the point I gave up, where Cassey (the MC) watched Luke (the love interest) do the same action twice in one page. Now, that's not to say he did the thing twice--I assume he opened and walked through the gate to her patio once, and didn't walk back out so he could do it again. No, she "watched" him open the page at the top of the page, then "watched" him do it again half the page down. Was he still doing it? Did it really take him that long? And that's another thing about the writing--it's stuffed with filter words. Cassey knew things, and she watched things, and she heard things. That's not to say these verbs never have their uses, but the reader had to observe Cassey observing everything else--nothing just happened. It's tiring. As if that weren't bad enough, the 18% of the story I read was simply boring. The prologue was long and melodramatic. I assume it's paid off later in the story, but at the moment, it's just jarringly disconnected, which is why avoiding prologues is such a common piece of writing advice. Luke isn't introduced until about 13% in, and when he is, he's a cocky corporate bad guy who's trying to get Cassey to sell her business. Okay, that could be the central conflict between them, and it's a solid one, but when we switch to a narrative from his perspective, his thought process basically boils down to wanting to seduce her into selling. NO THANK YOU I'M DONE NOW. I could accept his unwillingness to take her refusal to sell at face value when it was purely a business matter, not a personal one--his job is to convince her, so even though no should signal the end of most conversations, he needs to be persistent. It's unpleasant, but it's not gross.Seducing her into selling is gross. No matter what happens in the rest of the book, it can't redeem Luke for me. He's a sleazebag. So why bother reading it?
