Original read: March 13th, 2015Re-read: February 7th, 2016---3.5 stars (review edited with some quotes)***The fucker who put the explosive under my family's car might be in this very room right now. I take a deep breath, finding comfort in anger and the violent fantasies of what I plan to do to him. "It's time," I say out loud--though, of course, the frozen people can't hear it. "Let's see if any of you fuckers are thinking of explosions." "A wish. All of a sudden, I feel an ache in my chest. None of my wishes are happy. None are normal. A normal girl would wish to meet a nice guy, someone who's fun and good-looking. But not me. I wish I could find my parents' killers and the person who sent them, and then find the will and fortitude to kill them. ""I Split and get back to real time with a whirling kick to Shkillet's balls, a move I've done many times since starting my investigation. Nothing stops a man as quickly as a hit in that vulnerable place, and no man has ever deserved it more than Shkillet. As my foot connects, Shkillet squeals loudly and grabs his damaged family jewels. " ----A fun and interesting novella about Mira.. a girl who can stop Time and access memories. She's on the hunt for the mobster who murdered her family. Her powers reminded me of a sort of but not really combination of astral projection and telepathy. Her powers aren't limitless though and she can only so so much but she's good at it:).Loved her brother Eugene:) It didn't seem like he had abilities of his own but since this was Mira's story I can understand her not touching on that.Victor was an interesting mobster, he knows something is off about Mira but lets it go for now. A good glimpse into the world of Mind Dimensions, wish it was longer so we could spend more time with Mira, love this girl:).Would recommend, excited to read the next book!

Short, but good for a little back story of Mira. She's a bit arrogant if you ask me but hopefully her character will redeem herself. Next to Book two!

I love all of the books in the Mind Dimensions Series by Dima Zales. This book, The Time Stopper is a great prequel to the series and you get an intimate look at Mira. Mira is a Russian girl who moved to New York City with her brother Eugene after a Russian mobster killed her parents in a car bomb. Mira has a special gift. She can stop time and move throughout while others are frozen. While she can't change anything, she is able to see into the mind of other's and experience their thoughts and feelings. While this is a short read, it is very entertaining. I highly recommend this book to all book reader's of all ages.

I received the book from the author for an honest review. And I will say it was pretty cool actually, the plot was super interesting and it hook me with the series, I will have to read all on the long run.The idea of split its cool and it was well done , with the teaser at the end I want to read book one.Kudos to the author on this one, I like Mira she is pretty strong and interesting female lead.I also want to know more about Eugene.

I was greatly intrigued by the premise, enough so that I was able to get easily past a few clunky'ish spots (normally ANY clunkiness makes me put a book down and move on to something else). When I finished it, I immediately went and found the next book in the series, and I'm hopelessly hooked now.

this was a quick little beginning peek into a world. one made to make you drool over the potential of more as you bounce impatiently in your seat for the next installment. the author was very successful. Now I have to buy them all to read.Mira is awesome. Bad-ass, hard-ass and a million other kinds of cool. Though reliving her memories of what made her that way made me want to hug her and make the bad things disappear. Victor is an enigma i truly hope to see more of.

I love this series. It is perfect sci-fi for an adult, and I am so happy for this. I have been looking, but it was not forthcoming. Well, this young lady is bad ass if I do say so myself. A bit reckless as well, but that helps to make her intriguing.

Good story odd ending This is a short story that can apparently be read apart from the main series & most of it works like that but the ending is either a cliffhanger or only makes sense if you know more about the character from other books

“It’s so smoky in here; it’s like someone set off a bomb,” this is one of the lines I like the most throughout the story. It awakened my imagination and started going into the extraordinary scenes. It made me experience the so called “Mind Dimension”! Miri’s gift of mind dimension made the whole story interesting. Through this gift, she was able to examine herself from all angles and can even magnify her life’s insecurities which made her able to stop time. However, the moment she stops time, she is becoming powerless since she can’t change anything in the real world. Also, it made her access memories even of other people but cannot go far enough. Nevertheless, this gift made her replay the incident of her life that made her indifferent. She turned out to be a girl who doesn’t believe in soul, God and goodness in life. And this even get worse every time she remembers the minute her parent’s car explode where she find herself hopeless as she did nothing but go into mind dimension and watched how her parents died! And this is where her life evolves, finding the Russian mobster who killed her family. On the first chapter, I got very emotional. I saw the love between father and daughter. They were both into mind dimension, seizing the last 30 minutes of her father’s power of mind dimension. I can never forget her father’s passage, “To live even a few more minutes, to see you, is a treasure”. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars! The writing is very evocative that made even the most mundane details fascinating. Yet, I do not recommend this to teenagers because of the vulgar words about sex, rape and some intense actions. But I strongly suggest this to adults since it is indeed a fascinating short story which is worth paying a penny. ** I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review**

Mira is a young, beautiful woman, who watched her parents die by a bomb planted on their car.Now she is angry. Very angry. And she has a secret that will help her have her revenge.------This novella is a prequel to a publicly acclaimed Mind Dimensions series. As I haven't read any of the previous novels I was a bit afraid that I won't be able to understand what this series is all about. I didn't need to worry, though - this novella can be read on its own, explaining basic concepts of a mind dimension, and giving us an insight into the life of the characters that will show up later in the series. What intrigued me most was the decision not to have numerous battles with many splits to a mind dimension. On the contrary, instead of an action-packed, fast-paced thriller, this was more like a drama - drama that happens in the head of a young girl after watching her parents die. How she copes with it, how she uses her unique ability to delay that final moment as long as she can, how she deals with the fact that she will have to kill someone to have her revenge.Do not think there won't be some action though. We will see how the main protagonist uses her ability to fight Russian mobsters. We will also feel the frustration she has about the limits of her ability - she can stop the time, she can read someone's thoughts for a couple of minutes, but she cannot change anything in the real world.I would recommend this book to any young reader who is interested in the concept of mind-reading, coupled with some action. Although I think it was primarily targeted at female readers, male readers will equally enjoy reading it. And if you are an adult - give it a shot. You might be surprised with what you will find.

Author kindly provided an Audio-book in exchange for an honest review. The Time Stopper by Dima Zales was an interesting "fantasy" book about a girl named Mira, that can stop time and read minds. At a young age, Mira witnessed her parents die in a vehicle explosion and since then, shes been on the hunt for the person who murdered her parents. With a limited amount of time to "split", The Time Stopper is very fast paced, but Mira's reactions are will thought out. I've got to say jeez, all these Russians know who Mira is. I was able to feel everything Mira was feeling, as each new challenge was thrown her way, though I did get lost on a few occasions, I was quickly able to pick back up.The book is short and interesting from the beginning to the end. Since this is a novella to the Mind Dimensions series, I was worried I wouldn't understand what the series was about...but it was a great prequel to the rest of the series. I think because I read this book before hand, I was able to gasp the concepts of mind dimension. The narration by Laura Jennings was wonderful and I can’t wait to read the rest of this amazing series.I took a leap of faith and went outside of my comfort zone of a contemporary romance book, and I'm very glad I did. And if you are adamant and have doubts about stepping outside of your comfort zone as well, I think you should at least TRY it...and start with The Time Stopper.

The Time Stopper is a fast-paced, action packed thrill ride into the world of the Mind Dimensions series. It has interesting and likable characters, a fairly original basic premise that is developed throughout the story, and lots of plot and dramatic tension. The characters are very plausible; they act like you would expect them to act under the circumstances. Our hero is beautiful Mira, an 18-year old Russian girl who has moved to New York with her older brother Eugene. Her overriding goal in life is to find and kill the Russian mobsters that killed her parents by exploding a bomb in their car. Her goal isn't as unbelievable as it sounds, since Mira has the fearlessness of youth, possibility a lack of endorphins, and one strategic advantage. She can stop time. And then walk around and explore a world where everyone and everything is frozen. This ability is very handy if you support yourself by playing poker with mobsters in back-room illegal card games. It’s hard to lose if you can stop time, walk around the table, and look at everyone else’s hand. But since we’re dealing with Russian mobsters, eventually Mira finds herself in hot vodka. No matter how good a poker player you are, sometimes when you’re playing another game, you just have to role a hard eight. This book is a compelling introduction to the series; I could not put this book down until I finished it. When is the movie coming out? And great cover art. A girl with guns, what’s not to like?

See full review at Shellyback books.Wow, this is a really enjoyable and original story. The Time Stopper is a complete short story in its own right but also an excellent teaser for the Mind Dimensions series. This is essentially Mira's story. Mira like her father and brother has a gift, she can literally stop time and shift. This a fascinating concept where shifting involves stepping out of herself into the quiet where she can explore her both surroundings and those around here before stepping back into herself and restarting time. This added to the question of which Russian mobster who killed her family makes this a fascinating and engaging read. The writing was superb with well developed 3 dimensional characters. I liked the way the story teased me as the reader keeping me fully engaged and curious to read more about Mira, her quest and time shifting in general. Having never read anything by this author before I cannot compare this to other works but it has sparked my interest to read more in this series.Highly recommended.

Since I have the first two books of The Mind Dimension series already in my library (awesome reads!), I just had to add The Time Stopper. I really liked the character of Mira in the series but wanted to know more about her background, which is exactly what you get in The Time Stopper. As I expected, the book is fast paced and full of twists and turns. Mira is young and reckless, frustrated and conflicted at times, and very determined. I loved being able to see her story through her own eyes. With the story being written in first person, it draws you right into Mira’s world and you get to experience all her emotions right along with her.The writing is excellent, exactly what I expected from author Dima Zales, and the characters are very clearly brought to life via the great narration by Laura Jennings whose voice and inflections are pretty close to perfection (I have the audiobook edition). This is a wonderful prequel to the Mind Dimensions series. I highly recommend it to every fan of the Mind Dimension series and those who want to be introduced into the creative and intriguing world Dima Zales created with these books.

Another good addition to the intense Mind Dimensions series, it is action packed and a great prequel to introduce people to the thrilling and suspenseful series of books. This story focuses on a young Russian woman named Mira, who has the ability to step outside the boundaries of time. She is a Thought Reader, who is able to freeze time and interact with the inanimate objects and people around her. This ability, also possessed by her brother and father raise the attention of the Russian mob and cause the untimely death of both of Mira’s parents. This incident fills Mira with fury and sends her on the path to seek vengeance. This is her story.Although I am a very big fan of this series, I have to admit I did not enjoy this book. Although it is good in helping you get a deeper understanding of Mira and why she is the way she is, it totally alienated me from her character. I was not drawn to her for a couple of reasons, particularly the overuse of explicit language but also in her overly sexual mind and nature it totally detracted from the intelligent plot and writing.Still worth reading though!

** Read as part of the Gathering Darkness: A Paranormal Romance Collection **~ DNF ~The Time Stopper is #0.5 in the Mind Dimensions series and can be picked up for free at an eBook realtor. I ended up DNFing after chapter one. I could not get into the story or writing style. The ability that Mira has is odd and it’s weird how it’s used and described. Mira the heroine was not interesting enough. Just did not work for me.If you enjoy ScFi Time Travel Paranormal Romance then you might enjoy trying this short introduction to the Mind Dimensions series. The Time Stopper was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

The story is very intense and a great prelude to the event in the next two book, seeing life through Mira’s eyes makes you want to keep listening for hours. Mira’s is more intense than I previously thought, everything from the witnessing and feeling her parent’s thoughts as they died is more excruciating as she recalls it. The chapter with her father was a very touching moment until you realize what’s about to happen next. It’s sad how Mira’s parent’s death and the experience warped her mind at such a young age. I loved the parts in the club with her splitting out of her body to keep herself from getting killed by the serial rapist, hearing his thoughts was enough to give anyone nightmare. Mira with her feisty attitude knows how to handle herself in any situation; whacking the rapist with the ceramic toilet lid was a classic. Similar to Darren in the main series, she knows how to use her reading abilities to keep her 6 ft above ground, but when faced with killing someone she’s not all stone. Listening to Mira’s back-story, you really get to understand why Mira is the way she is and how it comes into play in “The Thought Readers & the Thought Pushers”.

** I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review**The Time Stopper a short novella that is a prequel to the Mind Dimensions series. Mira is a though reader and able to Split – meaning she can stop time and leave her body. We get a great insight into what she does when she Splits as she is looking for her parents killers, she watched them die in a car explosion and now she wants revenge. When she Splits she sees herself and everything from all angles – the beginning she is in a smoke filled room and the way it is described in her split state is just brilliant. The whole idea of Splitting is totally fascinating to me and I was hooked from the beginning, I absolutely loved the premise of the whole storyline and was glad I was able to move straight on to book 1 in the series. This is a great short book to introduce you to the series and I cant wait to read more, I am well and truly hooked.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The story revolves around Mira, who sets out to find the men who killed her parents. Mira possesses powers that allow her to stop time and it comes in handy when she goes undercover in the casinos to learn more about the killers. It took me a little while to get into the story and the real action doesn't get started until the middle of the book. I loved the fight scenes and Mira comes across as a strong woman, who's not afraid and can handle anything that comes her way.I know this is a short story, but I felt like it was a bit too short. Just as you're getting into the story, it's over in a second. It would've been better if the author expanded the story with more detail. At the end, the author gives a glimpse into the next volume of the Mind Dimensions series and it seems like it'd be a good book so I'll be checking it out.

Nice Intro Book Into The SeriesThis book was a short, but fun read. I read the entire thing yesterday. How exciting it would be to have Mira's special ability to stop time, and also to read other people. Such a cool gift. I wouldn't know how to deal with those sort of abilities. I think I'd be scared to know what's on some people's minds, but the stopping time thing would be fun to play around with. This book kept me interested. I like books that circle mainly around a strong female character. She was young, daring, and tough. She's on her own personal mission and willing to face quite a few really dangerous people to get there. I enjoyed the book and thought it wasn't a great way to draw me into reading the rest of the series of books. I love that there wasn't also a preview of what is happening next.I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

3,5/5 stars"The Time Stopper" is a nice, short story about Mira who is a secondary character in the main book, "The Thought Readers". We got to know her a bit better and even though I'm still not the biggest fan of her, I definitely understand and like her better now that I've seen into her mind (she's the first-person narrator in this one). The story tells us how her parents died and how she's trying to find out who did it. There's a lot of action and we learn more about her talents. Seeing how long she can split makes it even more clear how powerful Darren, the protagonist of the main book, seems to be.All in all, the story was interesting even though - well - short; it made a nice read for in-between and I'm curious to see if the events of "The Time Stopper" will become important later on in other books.

This novella encompasses a span of 24 hours centered around Mira’s 18th birthday. Her brother, Eugene, tries his best to make her breakfast and celebrate. Their typical awkwardness results in Mira packing a bag and taking off to blow off steam. Eventually she decides on going to a club where everything comes to a head. She is a thought reader. She can see into people’s minds and experience their thoughts and feelings. In the mind dimension she can undress people, look in their wallets, and learn more about them. This gift has shown to be both beneficial and detrimental. Just ask her about her last few minutes with her father.Mira finds herself in a sticky situation with the club owner, named Victor, and an acquaintance of his, Shkillet, whom she had met at a card game the previous night. A night that hadn’t gone as he’d planned…

I have been reading the Mind Dimensions Books for awhile. I love the idea of supernatural powers. Think of all the things you would do if you were psychic. It most certainly would cause a lot of stink however, which is what these books are ultimately about. Mira is an awesome character. One of the things that happens a lot in books like this is supernatural characters dont get the character development treatment they deserve and basically they are just shallow people who can do things you and I cant, but that wasnt the case in these books.Mira is intelligent, and you can really sympathize with her, and feel for her as the story progresses, and that is why I loved it as much as I did. I reallly recommend these books to anyone interested in the topic of mind reading, as they are very well done.

In this short prequel to Time Readers, we get to learn more about Mira's place in the Mind Dimensions series. Similar to Thought Readers and Thought Pushers, we get a quick paced, witty and satisfying story. Biggest feature for me was finding information through Mira's perspective. She is completely different than Darren, more so than she portrays in the other two books. She provides more depth as a character in this book. Strong willed, sure of herself, yet frustrated with her limitations. Specifically, the frustrations of her abilities (being able to stop time but not being able to do anything *with* the time). Hoping for another Mira based book in this series. Highly recommended.

I love fantasy stories and this one is a great one. This short story is told in the first person by the heroine, Mira. She is a very interesting and well developed character with a no nonsense, street smart attitude. I had the audio book and the narrator's voice was perfect. I loved all the inflections and different accents she used to tell the story. The story does contain some gritty, adult language. However, the adult language just adds to the mystique of the story. The author does a wonderful job with hooking you in the beginning and holding your attention to the end of the story. My only complaint with this story is that it wasn't long enough! I wanted more! Now I want to to read the rest of this series!
