Short story full of action, paranormal creatures and magic. And not one but two kick-ass heroines. Who can ask for more?I think it's best read after Rylee Adamson and before starting The Elemental series.

I decided to read this novella because the author recommended to before starting ROOTBOUND, and having loved her RYLEE ADAMSON and ELEMENTAL series, I figured that I couldn't go wrong with twice the Shannon Mayer heroine power! ELEMENTALLY PRICELESS was a hoot because I got to learn about the Tracker's first salvage while also getting psyched up for Lark's 5th installment. The chapters alternated POVs which is normally not my favourite style of writing, but in this instance I loved it due to my in depth knowledge of both characters.

I purchased this book simply bc I was interested in Larkspur. It gave me some insight on Lark & serves as a helpful preview on if I'd enjoy a series with Lark as the protagonist. The answer is yes. I'll be happily buying Lark's series. However this left me with a question If Ryle is immune how can an elemental spell her memory away? Seems a bit inconsistent to me.

I trailed my fingers down the side of the crumpled missing person poster, taking in the hard feel of weathered paper. This is a back story to both the Rylee Adamson and Elemental series. Rylee has taken it upon herself to rescue a missing child without benefit of back up. She manages to convince a neighbor to drive her in the direction of the pull that she feels from the child. The neighbor turns out to be more than he seems. In Death Valley, Lark is overcome by the need to leave her prison and help a girl she does not know. Knowing that to do so will cause her to be banished. The two meet in Las Vegas in a common goal to save the child. An interesting story with mythological creatures and the age old battle of good versus evil. I enjoyed seeing where Rylee started. I have not started the Elemental series but see that I should add it to my TBR.

I am just starting out with this author. Book 1 of the series is waitlisted, so I decided to read .25 and .5 as a precursor to get an idea of the characters. Beyond the admitted "potty mouth", the main character is a surprising, tough, not willing to run from danger kind of girl. This series falls into the supernatural genre, but even with just these two short stories, it feels fresh and interesting. I look forward to discovering more!

It was too short! So good. I started reading the elemental a but when I got to book 5 the first chapter killed me because it jumped so far ahead into the future. So I did some digging and found the reading timeline. It landed me here and I loved it! Thanks Shannon

I admit I wasn’t blown away by book 1 in this series. I had problems with missing back story and I thought reading this would fill some of those gaps. I also heard Shannon on a podcast and she’s selling millions of books.http://bestsellerexperiment.com/ep17-...She’s clearly doing something right.***Okay… this is not a prequel. It may well come before the other books in the calendar but it does not set up book 1. So it’s backstory for the wherever the series was up to when this was published, but it contains spoilers for book 1. And the others. And I think it fires off the Elemental series. Not that I have read any.[checking the lists - there are four Rylee books released in 2015 - books 7-10]There’s a term for this but I can’t think what it is right now. From looking at other reviews this should be read before book 9.Stick to reading them in publication order, not number order.Mistake, AM.(view spoiler)[Rylee’s resistance to spells doesn’t work here, either. She can’t tell that her sexy biker neighbour is a male siren. But then, when she needs it to work against a shadow walker it does. And her immunity doesn’t stop her getting her memories wiped. It’s like a story plot point until it’s convenient for it NOT to exist. *frowns* (hide spoiler)]And how did she start his bike? He would have had the keys. They’d be buried under the earth where Larkspur put him.I can’t imagine trying to read prophecies scrawled over the years by a boy who is now 12. ‘it says… wait… turns book… I can’t read this word… ugh. Does that look like egg?’ *shudders*So it’s still not working for me… potty mouth [not that she has one but that she gets accused of it all the time], trigger phrases [She let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. - look, I know I hold my breath when I’m concentrating, but that phrase in those exact words is everywhere and it is making me crazy], editing errors, more plot holes… and yeah… this series is not going to work for me.2 stars

Short storyA quick story that introduced the now adult Rylee. It was good and a nice switch between the usual Lark bases books. That being said. I’m ready to get back to Lark.

I thought the .25 book called Tracking Magic was odd and I understand that it was written well after several of the others were written but I just thought it was ok. This one on the other hand I loved. I am so looking forward to starting this series. I first read Shannon Meyers recently when I read her Venom Trilogy. I loved it so I knew I had to check out this series. I already know that I will also be checking out her spin off series. Can't wait.

I love Shannon's books and this is shaping up to be another great series! I love how she has intertwined this series with the Elementals series. I'm pausing in the elemental series after book 4 to read this one and find out what happens to Lark between books 4&5 of the Elementals. Can't wait to get into Rylee's life now, and see how she intertwines with Lark. For those who may not want to read this series, but want to fill in some of the gap of Lark's life between books 4&5 of the Elemental Series I would recommend reading this book, without continuing the series, especially if you don't want the sex, language, and gore that is peppered throughout. I enjoyed this series, especially seeing how it intertwined with the Elemental Series. However, I'm not so sure my teenagers would enjoy it. There is a fair amount of language and gore that even I skipped through. In addition to that there are some sex scenes to skip over, and a few crude/lewd moments that I could have done without. I understood the language was a way of distinction with the Trackers in that world, and if it hadn't been for how well done the story was I don't think I would have finished the series. I did appreciate the moral to the series, that love for family and friends really can help us conquer the darkness in our lives. I also liked how the chain of events that was her life was realized at the end in a way that led her to where she was, and how necessary those events were to building who Riley was and developing why she was loved so much by her"family ".

First I have to say.. squuuuueeeeeeeeee (clears my throat) Okay, now onto serious business… (LOL) I love, love, love this series. It’s one of my favorites and has been since I read the first book, Priceless. Rylee is a kick-ass, sword wielding, sword handing, fighter who has a big heart.I am thankful to get to see how she got started. We heard of her first salvage in a few cases of the series and I always wondered about it. So now.. we get to it.Rylee has always been independent and stubborn. No lying there and we all know it but she has something special about her that is unlike anyone else. As a tracker she can find anyone, anywhere, except her sister. As her ‘first’ salvage gets started Rylee sees a poster of a missing child on a bulletin board. Jonathan, age 10… pushing out her gift she gets a trail to him. The kid is still alive. The poster said he was missing for two years now, but his thread was strong. She could do this. Giselle may not think she was ready to go on a salvage alone but she was. Or so she thought. But how could she get to the kid? Luckily her neighbor, Caleb, nice hunky man cake that he was had a bike and she had money. She manages to get him to agree to take her to a ‘friend’. After a few hours of traveling they stop to eat and to her horror what does she find? Agent Liam O’Shea up her ass. Of course the fact that Rylee is packing heat in the way of a frigging sword, and knives does not pass O’Shea. He takes them. Of course. Ass. The kids get food and set back off on the road. The thread leads them to where? Vegas baby. HA!This is where Rylee meets Dox for the first time. Big blue ogre that is friendly and living off the tips and money he makes running a bar off the strip. (laughs) Of course Rylee makes herself known to him and they chat. He tells her about the big uglies in the area and she sets off to find Jonathan. But what Rylee doesn't know is that things are already set into motion. Things she can’t change or stop. As Rylee narrows down where Jonathan is she meets Lark. An elemental who is also there to save the child. As a favor to someone else. This child needs to be taken somewhere the elemental can send him to keep him safe. He is a special kid after all. Rylee and Lark seem to be agreeable on one thing.. neither of them can take no for an answer so they go into get the kid together. As with any other salvage there is no way to know what will happen. But when all hell breaks loose they work together to beat down the big ugly. And to the uglies surprise Rylee is able to do him harm. Something that is not easy. Lark is able to get herself, Rylee and Jonathan out thanks to her elemental gift and they head back to her place. But what happens next sets us up for the next adventure for team Rylee. That is all I will say.. well that and I am veeeeeeery anxious for the next installment in the Rylee Adamson series. I need it like now!!!

And Rylee is finally able to remember... Larkspur. Not just a flower anymore.Larkspur, the Destroyer, Earth Elemental who also invokes Spirit, as does Ryler but she doesn't remember that yet.You didn't miss anything between Book 'Rising Darkness' (Book 9) and 'Blood of the Lost' (Book 10). This Movella was safely tucked in between the bookshelf sandwich and PERFECTLY TIMED. WELL DONE SHANNON MAYER!If you'd know all this from after book 'Wounded' or 'Stitched', you'd have known too much (and then we must kill you. Ha! Couldn't help it.)Larkspur is a badass Elemental that Rylee is finally allowed to remember. Larkspur saved her butt in the early days, before Rylee even carried her swords. And when she made her last sword, she knew it would be for the Tracker.Larkspur helps Rylee out of a mess of her first lone salvage, cursed from the beginning) and by saving her she knew she was giving up her own freedom. So she let off enough dream shed kept pent up. Rylee even impresses her by standing up to another Elemental and cuts his leg off. So while Lark knows she will be locked away, she gained somewhat of a "sister" in half-breed Elemental Rylee. And Rylee can hear her calling...Yep, Rylee is a Tracker, an Immune, and part Elemental herself. Supposedly the Tracker qualities provide her lovely potty mouth, though, one of her most lovable attributes..So here we are, leaving this book and moving on to see the last battle so the Destroyer is freed and ready to destroy the demon Orion and whatever else is stupid enough to get in her way, and help Rylee fulfill her prophecy as Blood of the Lost and save the world from being taken over by demons. And on we read... Slowly as the end is here TODAY. And while I know it had to happen, I'm gonna miss the little sh!t when it's all over...But I do plan on reading the other series that have been started. The Elemental series (of course!!), the Blood Borne series, and the Nevermore Trilogy. To start.

Saving The Innocent... Together Both of these series must be read in order. This linking prequel can be read at any time though it would be a good idea to read first if you are new to either series. I can't wait to read more Rylee &Lark books! Rylee has powers she does not understand. She is an Immune (though she is unsure of the extent... Hopefully finding that out, If she ever does, won't kill her!) and a Tracker. Once she has a scent noone can stop her from fining who she is looking for, be they live or dead. Well except for her little sister... She can't even her a wiff of her. That's what makes finding lost kids so important to her... Making up for her big mistake. Forbidden to go on a Salvage alone she enlists her neighbor Caleb to be her chauffer. Will she be able to convince him to take her all the way? Will she find the boy alive? Or will she be too late? Lark is being punished for not remaining neutral and for using her powers for revenge. Death Valley is the opposite of happy for her. But at least she can use her Elemental earth powers to forge amazing weapons to pass the time. She is making a kitana for someone special... She just wishes she knew who! The energy feels familiar... Like the person she broke the rules for somehow. Will she be able to remain neutral? Or will she break the rules again and end up with the worst punishment imaginable? Will it be worth it?***Both of these series are suitable for adult readers who enjoy urban action adventure paranormal fantasy mysteries with a strong female lead who is indomitable and always looking towards the true greater good no matter what anyone else thinks with a dash of romance and a lot of snark :)

I was excited to read this installment of the Rylee series because we would get some more back story on Rylee (which is always fun) and learn a bit more about Larkspur. I read Elementally Priceless after reading Rising Darkness, so I knew absolutely nothing about Larkspur when she showed up in Rising Darkness. Rylee is still quite young in this novella and still learning about her abilities as a tracker. It was a little weird to see our hero as an awkward teen who doesn't have a back bone with men...yet. Our favorite FBI agent also makes an appearance, totally forgot what an a$$ O'Shea used to be to Rylee. Although, to be fair, did Rylee really think she could walk around with a sword without anyone noticing? [Spoilers!!] It was cool to find out that the reason Rylee is a tracker is because she has the blood of a "spirit" elemental. We also got to learn a little more about elementals, Orion, and the coming war. This story also made me excited for Larkspur's up coming debut novel and more drunk fairies. Also, I have a feeling that Johnathan is going to show up in the next Rylee book with some useful info at the last minute. The only downside to this novella is the interaction between Giselle and Rylee is pretty minimal. I would really love a prequel about Giselle and Rylee or just Giselle. She sounds like such an interesting character but we only get little snippets of her in Rylee's books. That really seems like a missed opportunity to me. Perhaps we will learn more about her in Larkspur's series, because the two were friends in the past. I would recommend this book if you're a big Rylee fan but on it's own it most likely won't make sense to you.

So as I was reading, Rising Darkness book 9, in the Rylee Adamson series. We got to about 70% where they were searching for the Destroyer and I realized I missed reading this book! OMG!!! Horror I'm out of order!!! This seriously messes with my OCD when it comes to reading books! So you MUST read this book after Stitched book 8.5 and before book Rising Darkness book 9. Why you ask? Well, in Elementally Priceless we are met with a 19 year old Rylee who hasn't started salvaging on her own and is still in training. She is compelled to go after a kid that she sees on a flyer. There she meets up with Larkspur. Yes that Larkspur from Recurve!!! Oh holy goodness! Larkspur is the Destroyer needed for the final battle!!!So basically we are at the beginning of Rylee's story and from what I can tell Larkspur goes on a rampage in her story!!! OMG I can't wait! I think that might be the only thing that will get me through knowing Rylee's story is ending at book 10. We have the awesomeness of Larkspur to look forward too.Like all of Shannon's Rylee books it is totally awesome! You throw in the absolute badassness of Larkspur and you have a total girls kick ass book!...Sarahttp://www.boundlessbookreviews.comhttps://www.facebook.com/BBReviews

Prequel to the Rylee Adamson series that takes us back to Rylee’s first attempt to Track on her own at the age of 19. This is probably not a great place to start as it helps if you already know more about Rylee’s abilities before reading this story. The series starts off focusing on Tracking missing children with a back story of a powerful vampire who wants her bound to him without us or Rylee knowing why. As the series progresses—I’d just finished reading Shadowed Threads (book 4) before starting this—more of the back story moves to the forefront. This particular story not only gives us an adventure with Rylee’s first time out on her own, but we meet Larkspur, an elemental who will apparently be important by the end of the series, as is the child they are Tracking. The actions and situations in this story made things somewhat clearer, at least to where I’m at in the series. The story switches back and forth between Rylee’s and Larkspur’s first person point of view. I love the action and the philosophical aspects that are a big part of the series, of doing what you know in your heart is right, even though the consequences could destroy you in some way.If you’re enjoying the series, you will definitely like this story.

As always Ms. Shannon Mayer didn't let me down, I had loved the Rylee Adamson series from the 1st book...Elementally Priceless is about a young Rylee on her 1st quest and the friendships she made alone the way... Ms. Mayer took me back to some wonderful beloved characters that I have missed and love, also felt saddest knowing the out comes of these amazing characters..We also met a new character Lark, who has open new doors on the storyline...Can't wait till the next Rylee Adamson novella comes out..If you haven't read this amazing series, you missing out, it would keep you on your toes and holding your breath.

A teaser novella linking the Rylee Adamson series to the Elemental series. Rylee and Larkspur cross paths early in Rylee's career as a child-rescuer. Larkspur knows that Rylee has an important destiny and provides aide during a difficult mission (despite knowing the personal consequences). Both characters are similar (headstrong, mouthy, and powerful). They do what is right no matter the cost. The only disappointment is that the novella is a spoiler for Recurve (1st book of the Elemental series).

I really enjoyed this prequel. I do have to admit, that it was a littel confusing at first, because of timeline and how it fit between both series. Lark seems to be way stronger than she was depicted in the 4th installment of her series, though it also explains why in Rootbound (Book 5 - I read a preview of the first few chapters before it was released) she was freed from the oubliette again, which didn't make sense at first, because I read Elementally Priceless after the preview of Roodbound.

Another great novella that gives us a look at early Rylee and a look at what she has in store for her in the future. It also introduces us to Larkspur who is the heroine of the Elemental series, which I’m also looking forward to reading. I enjoyed this novella and am really glad that I had a chance to read it. We get to see Rylee’s first introduction to one of her many helpful friends in this one too, which I really liked.

I don't know anything about this world yet, but I like what I've read a bit so far. I don't know much about Rylee and didn't find myself as attached to her as I was Lark (who I definitely want to know more about), and I think the big twists were given away too soon, probably a sign that this prequel was released after the series had begun, maybe? Because it was a BIG shocker to me. Still, a good short read that promises more to come!
