The Love Commission (Savannah Sprites) (Volume 1) Reviews
People with good hearts have sex without procreating, far too many marriages end with bitter divorces and loads of couples refuse to marry, but elect to simply live together. These are all signs of humanity being ill and to top it all, the earth is suffering under pollution, deforestation and the people willing and able to do something about it, are getting fewer by the generation. Yes, humanity needs saving from itself and only magic will do the trick—according to the Fairy Queen. So she send Gelsey, a savanna sprite, to the human world to find out why this is happening—why humans have sex without procreating. And thus a tale begins where the meaning of true love is placed under a microscope and stripped of its purported magic.Ms. Ballante takes us on a journey of self-discovery where good intentions causes the main characters to make bad decisions—something I’m sure everyone can relate to. Dealing with the consequences of these decisions is what makes these characters note-worthy. There were a few instances where I could happily throttle Gelsey for being so fickle, but the motivation for her decisions was good enough. Although this is a fantasy novel the characters appeared real, their emotions justified and the plot conceivable. The best part of this story was the journey the naive Gelsey had to make from innocent in love to the realizing the meaning of true love. The fact that she had to loose so much to gain this insight is what lent this story the depth it needed. This is a well-written book where the author kept the bedroom-door open with love scenes hot enough to make you squirm, but with enough emotional twists and turns to keep your eyes glued to the pages until you read the last word. Definitely an erotic paranormal romance I would recommend.
I really enjoying the the book. I am not a fan of sex scenes which is why I took away a star. Beautiful story and beautiful cover. My full review is at http://bookreviewsandwallpapers.blogs....I won this book in the first reads giveaways for an honest review.
Reviewed by AngelaBook provided by the publisher for reviewOriginally posted at Romancing the Book In The Love Commission we are introduced to Gelsey who is an eco fairy based in Africa. She is called upon by here queen to join the human race and find out why humans fall in love. After accepting the commission she is brought to Newcastle Africa. Here she meets Evan a human who she falls in love with. The story is told mostly from the point of view of Gelsey but does give us some insight into Even and how he thinks and things that have happened in his past that make him who he is today.Gelsey has been given one year to find out all that she can about humans and the emotion of love and then report back to her queen all of her findings. Can one fairy truly be able to find all of the answers in order to save the human race?Does she have a big enough heart to accept what she doesn’t know and can’t change or will it all come to an end a lot sooner than she thinks? Does Gelsey have what it takes to make the ultimate sacrifice? Is she truly a selfless fairy like she was brought up to be?I found this a very intriguing read. It’s not a genre that I have read before, but I was able to jump right in and it held my interest. The book was well written and kept a steady plot throughout the entire book.
The Love Commission by Vicki Ballante (3½ Stars)This fairy fantasy love story, proudly takes place in Africa, often making reference to the Authors roots, beautiful places and the plight of a few of Africa’s animals. A strong ecological backdrop, is the canvas for this innocent love story, were a young inexperienced sprite named Gelsey is sent on a crucial quest by the Fairy Queen, to come live and learn about us Humans, to seek out and find Love, in order to find out why Humans are not having any (or as many) children, as we used to. The Author really manages to get inside the innocence of the young sprite and shows us so many things, that we take for granted, as if they are being seen and experienced for the very first time. I found that really refreshing. The story is well written and the Author takes you on an adventure into Love … to find out if Gelsey answers all of loves interesting questions – you will have to read the book.
