Eight months ago, Lee Coleman met the woman of his dreams…then lost her to another man. He buried his disappointment by throwing himself into work on the family ranch, but when a winter storm leaves him stranded, Lee finds more than shelter in the rustic safety of a hunter’s cabin—he finds a second shot at love. Rachel Malone's heart has been broken and stomped on by her cheating ex, and she’s determined to never fall in love again. But a rebound fling? Doesn’t sound like such a bad idea, especially when she’s snowed-in with a gorgeous, sweet-talking Coleman. Despite their off-the-charts chemistry, Lee makes it clear he wants more than a temporary romp. In fact, he’s made it his mission to put a smile back on her face, even if it means taking it slow and resisting the scorching heat between them. This time around, he wants forever, while Rachel is positive that forever is a fool's dream. Lee can’t wait to prove her wrong… ---- Rocky Retreat was also available for a short time as a part of Cowboys Last All Night. If you've purchased that box set, you've already read Rocky Retreat!...

Things I enjoy in books: Two people with loads of sexual tension being snowed in and forced to share body heat. Seriously, that's one of those THINGS that makes me pick up a book practically sight unseen. I just... love it.AND THIS BOOK HAD THAT.*swoons all over the place*Okay, okay. Besides the AWESOME snowed in scenario, Lee and Rachel have some smokin' chemistry. Leery of the age difference between them, Rachel had blown him off in the past and made the colossal mistake of marrying another man. The mistake wasn't in marrying another, mind you (although Lee might argue that point), but in getting caught up in the whirlwind romance and missing the signs the now-ex was a cheater. Poor girl.Okay, fine. The other mistake was in letting the age difference between her and Lee come between them in the first place. To be fair, Lee is an older soul than his physical age would indicate. He knows what he wants and he goes for it. And when what he wants goes for someone else, he steps aside and nurses his hurt in private. *sniffle*Then the stars align and that SNOWED IN thing happens and all is right in the world again.I'm loving these Coleman's. They're strong, the women they fall for are strong, and they're willing to fight for the things that matter to them. *slow thumbs up*-Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

I thought Lee and Rachel's story would be more interesting but it was just okay. Not much going on and once they got together I was ready for it to be over. Hopefully the next one will be better.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews4 STARSReview copy provided for an honest review** Rocky Retreat will be available as part of the Cowboys Last All Night anthology, available now. The anthology will be on sale for $0.99 until February 15th. Then, on February 17th, Rocky Retreat will be releasing as a solo book. **I’m always up for a May/December romance story and Vivian Arend gives us a treat with Rocky Retreat. While Lee Coleman may be the baby of the Moonshine Clan he’s always had a good head on his shoulders and has acted older than his 24 years. Crushed after Rachel Malone refused to date him because of their age difference and devastated when she married someone else quickly he can’t believe his luck when he finds the newly divorced woman holed up in a cabin during a snowstorm. A raging storm, simmering seduction, and a man determined to get the woman he wants in his life Rocky Retreat will warm you up on even the coldest winter night. There’s always been something about Lee I admired and I think it’s partly due to the fact that even though he’s young he is responsible and takes life seriously. That’s not to say he hasn’t had his fun but once he makes up his mind about something or someone he goes full speed ahead to make it happen. He had no choice but to sit back and watch Rachel be wooed and marry a man who was in his opinion was not good enough for her and when he caught him out cheating he did what he felt he needed to for retribution for Rachel. Now with an opportunity to spend quality time with her, he’s made up his mind to do it right and proves he may be young but he knows exactly how to treat the woman he’s falling in love with.I liked these two together and while I understand Rachel’s hang ups about their age difference and it is a pretty decent one at 9 years, it was so obvious that it didn’t matter to Lee. I personally would have liked to see them discuss this more especially after their night out at Trader’s where Rachel felt somewhat out of sorts but Lee took it all in stride. I loved that his family didn’t make an issue of their age difference though and most were blatantly honest about Lee knowing his mind and being stubborn when his mind is made up.Their snowbound time was entertaining and it was implied they had plenty of time to talk and share about their lives but again I would have loved to have been privy to some of those conversations. What I loved most that when push came to shove and Rachel was freaking out it was the Lee who remained call and with a cool head to smooth it all out.I never tire of reading about the Coleman Clan so it was fun to see several of them throughout the book and I especially loved seeing a little more of Trevor, Lee’s older brother and can’t wait to see how hard he falls given some of his more interesting observations in this book.Sexy yet hear warming Rocky Retreat is another fine addition to Vivian Arend’s Rocky Mountain House/Coleman Family/Six Pack Ranch series.

Ahhhh, I’m back in the six Pack Ranch world. I have no idea how I missed this release, but I have now rectified this error by picking up the audiobook. And it’s actually the first time I listened to the series and I have to say, I like! The narrator does a great job!So ROCKY RETREAT is a short story about Lee Coleman and him finally getting the woman he’s been in love with for eight months. Lee is much younger than Rachel (9 years!) and she’s been burned by her ex before (who cheated on her) so he has his work cut out for him if he want more than a sexual thrill.First of all…. You go Rachel! LOL Lee knows exactly what he wants and that is her. He’s not interested in the young chicks running around him, he only has eyes for her. But she’s never paid much attention to him until they are stuck together at a cabin while they both take refuge from a winter storm. Snowed in for a bit, the sexual chemistry between them explodes right away. But when Rachel wants to leave things as just that, Lee pushes for more. Can I just say hot? ROCKY RETREAT was hot and sweet. It was sweet to see Lee break down the walls Rachel had put up in her mind while trying to protect herself from sure heartbreak. But also it’s beautiful to see how he loves every part of her and wants to show her just how beautiful she is. It also helps that Lee is very mature for his age, so in my mind his age was just a number.I think this story could’ve been stretched to a full length story so we would’ve gotten to read more about the things that were left unsaid and implied. One of my favorite things about these Coleman men is how strong and determined they are in the pursuit of the woman they set their sights on. And I wanted more of those moments in this book. But definitely enjoyed every bit of what we got. But it leaves me ready for the next one!

*** I generously received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. ***What a sweet, sexy, fun quick read. Rachel is trying to come to terms with her ex cheating on her and move on with her life. Heading to a cabin far from prying eyes, as well as out of cell tower range, to start the process, she soon finds herself stuck in the middle of a snowstorm and with the last person she needs as her cabinmate. Lee has felt a pull towards Rachel from the first time he laid eyes on her and knows that much of her resistance to going out with him is due to the difference in their ages, but know that he has her to himself, he’s determined to show her that age is only a number and that he is the man for her. What I enjoyed about Lee and Rachel’s story was how Lee subtly bullied his way into Rachel’s heart. The little things he did to show her he was truly into her were sweet and well thought out. Rachel proved herself to be a strong woman and what I appreciated about her is that while she did have concerns over the age difference between her and Lee, as well as working to get past her hurt over her ex, she didn’t allow it to keep her from pursuing a relationship with Lee, or sabotaging it. There were some very sexy moments and I loved Lee’s quick and considerate thinking in the barn . And while there are a few things that were left unresolved for me, I found the ending perfect for them. Also, catching up with a few of the members of the Coleman clan is always fun, though Jesse is well, being Jesse grrr, but Trevor...all I can say is that I can’t wait for his story.

Advanced Readers Copy Courtesy of Author, Vivian Arend...:)I love the Six Pack Ranch boys and even though Lee Coleman is the youngest of the lot, let me tell you ladies he is still mighty impressive!!!!This sweet, hot and sexy little novella is all about Lee and Rachel. They have both been in previous books, and in those books Lee lusted after the slightly older Rachel but unfortunately for Lee she was married to a total douchebag who liked to cheat on her. Finally Rachel is free of her cheating scum ex and who better to help her get over things that sexy young Lee Coleman. When Rachel and Lee get stuck in a snowstorm in a little cabin for a few days its finally game on for these two and they sure do ignite the pages of your kindle....I really enjoyed this read from start to end, just like I have all the previous books in this series, and even though there is a almost 10 year age gap between Lee and Rachel they still are one of the hottest couples yet....Cant wait for the next book as it looks like its gonna be Travis turn to find HEA......and there is nothing more fun that when a ladies man finally meets the one.....:)Thanks again to the fabulously talented author for the opportunity to read and review this book....

Rocky RetreatThe CharactersRachel Malone: I liked Rachel but almost identified with her too much. I’m an over thinker and second guesser and it drives me nuts so to read about someone else doing the same kinda turns me off. Lee Coleman: He’s a good guy. Very mature and seems to know exactly what he wants in life. The StoryI love they way they came together. Stranded in the cabin, swoon. I can understand Rachel’s hesitation in dating Lee, 9 years is a lot. But, Lee’s maturity is unexpected so hey never say never. This story was good and left me happy, I quite enjoyed it. *I was gifted this book from the author and freely give my review”Lee has never forgot Rachel even when she married someone else and moved away. Now she’s divorced and back, Lee intrudes on her pity party at the cabin she’s renting when a snow storm traps him. This was a good story and especially liked the age difference, she’s older then him, go girl!!Easy writing style, no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues makes this a joyful read, as always from Arend.Rachel has some reservations about starting a new relationship and that’s understandable, but Lee is willing to take it slow. The fooling around and the slow approach is very well described with a lot of emotions. Hot love scenes is warming up the pages. If you enjoy fun, hot and sweet HEA, READ READ READ!This is part of a series but can definitely be read as a standalone!

I had read this before in an anthology I think, but it really is no hardship to read it again.A lovely story of second chances.Lee has been in love with Rachel for ages but she believed him to be too young and to just be flirting. She married a cheating dirtbag which lasted all of 1 month.Lee finds Rachel licking her wounds in a cabin during a bad storm. He seizes his chance to be with the woman he loves.Spending time in close proximity gives Rachel to chance to meet the real Lee.A lovely sweet story that gives us more of the Coleman family.

It's a sugary sweet one. And after the tears of, One Sexy Ride, the book previous to this one in the Rocky Mountain House series...this was exactly what I needed. It is important to remember that age is just a number.

Rachel belongs with Lee but after what her husband did to her she doesn't believe that she can ever trust a man in that way. However, nature has its own way of making things right and balancing things out; in addition to helpful family members.

Rocky RetreatBy Vivian ArendThis is book 7.5 in the Six Pack Ranch series. I've reviewed 1-6 previously, and really enjoyed them. They don't make my top re-readable list, but nice family stories with some smexy times and romance are exactly what I need on occasion. Book 7 was kind of meh for me, but didn't stop me from wanting to continue the series. We'd met Rachel and Lee previously, and as much as he wanted her, it wasn't enough for her to choose him over their age gap. She picked the wrong man. And now that Rachel's seperated and thy're both trapped in a snowbound cabin, Lee's absolutely ready to show her he's the right man for her.The snowbound enforced intimacy trope works for me as a device to speed up the connection between the two main characters in a novella, particularly when those two characters have past history and knowledge of each other. It neatly side steps many of my issues with romance novellas. Though they don't stay stuck, it was a nice bridge between their past relationship and their new more intimate one.And I adore condom positive scenes:“Condoms, yes. I know you’re clean, but…” He shook his head. “This is your choice, your body, and you never have to explain.”Plus we got the reprise of Jesse the Jerk. I'm not sure how Arend is going to salvage that spoiled brat, but it should be interesting.Lee and Rachel's romance was sweet and I enjoyed catching up with the Coleman's. There were just two things I didn't care for, them hooking up before her divorce was finalized, and using a big dramatic thing to finally get them talking. What I like about this series is that it's about families and real seeming people, no matter how ridiculous some things in life get (life gets ridiculous for real people too), so the drama seemed like cutting corners. But I still really liked their story and look forward to getting the rest of the horde of Coleman's settled down.3.5 stars

Why I read it: I’m a fan of the series and buy these whenever there’s a new one out. Rocky Retreat is a novella length audio I’ve had on my TBL for a little while. What worked for me (and what didn’t): Rachel Malone is licking her wounds after finding out her husband of only six months had been cheating on her for at least five of them. She takes a few days off to regroup, staying in a remote hunter’s cabin. When Lee Coleman is stuck in a storm and takes shelter in the same cabin they are forced to hang out together for a few days, until the weather clears enough for them to get safely down the mountain. Lee has had a thing for Rachel since he first met her but because he’s 24 and she’s 33, she shrugged off his advances, thinking they weren’t serious. Lee realised his mistake (ie not persisting) when Rachel married douchebag Gary. Now that Gary and Rachel have split, Lee sees his chance and he’s not going to make the same mistake twice. There is certainly attraction between the pair but Lee doesn’t just want a rebound fling, so he puts the brakes on the sex train and insists they take things more slowly. Rachel’s and Gary’s courtship had been very whirlwind and she is unsure of her own judgement now so it makes sense to take things at a more leisurely pace. That doesn’t mean Lee is averse to a bit of fooling around though. Rachel soon discovers that being with Lee is vastly different to her experience with Gary and, over time, she comes to trust in their relationship.Read the rest: http://www.kaetrinsmusings.com/2015/1...

Again, a nice sweet romance, boy younger than girl and girl worried about it. Most of this was great but we never get the full picture just the thought of what is going to happen. It felt a little incomplete because of this. (view spoiler)[ The issue with her ex seemed to be a non-issue as nothing happened other than him saying "we need to talk", OK about... oh, through the lawyers was the answer I think. Then her family and the reaction during Christmas, it is Valentines at the end but we don't get any furthering on that front. And finally, the "promise" ring, wow, she is 33 years-old, I think that you can get engaged without a finalized date. A promise ring is either a cop out or something someone far away from ready to commit does to say, "I'm thinking about that direction". It is engaged to be engaged, a thing you do as a teenager not 24 and certainly not 33.(hide spoiler)] So all these added up to me feeling like the story was incomplete. So these thing added up to an incomplete, happy for now feeling. Yes, they are together, but I guess the 156 pages wasn't enough to answer them though in the 189 pages of the first book (not a .5 but this was?) answered all of that and was a bit overly boring at a point. Also that one had the exact opposite issue of the boy being older and the girl, still a girl in his mind. The ending there was complete. Maybe it was because it is an older woman, hmm... So we don't get the marriage and all, she should wait it out I guess. I read the next one before this but don't remember Lee or Rachel in Trevor's book. So this was a sweet beginning, some pretty good sex, but a bit of a miss in the completion. 3 solid.

Rachel's world fell apart when she discovered the man she thought she loved cheated on her. Now all she wants to do is lick her wounds in peace. Having gone up the mountain to a rustic cabin she knew it would be cold and snowy but didn't expect a blizzard but that's what she got. On her way back to the cabin from the outhouse ( yes outhouse!) she suddenly sees a very large man coming her way. Lucky for her it's Lee Coleman whose snow mobile died and is now stranded with her. Lee has had a thing for Rachel for a long time but their age difference was always a problem for Rachel. Now he is determined to show her age is just a number and he is perfect for her. I always enjoy the stranded by a storm stories. Lee is 24 and Rachel is almost 10 years older. While she is attracted to Lee ,she is hung up on the age thing but Lee is determined to show her they make a great pair. I like how this didn't turn into a jump into bed thing right away. Lee shows his character and respect for Rachel which makes her think being in a relationship with him more possible. Once they get rescued from the cabin though and have to deal with the real world things get harder but Lee doesn't give up. The Coleman family is always good for a great story with fun and laughter mixed with some sexy romance. Although this is a novella you get the feel of a full length story and i love the glimpse of the other Coleman's from previous books. If you haven't read this series you can start with this novella but i recommend starting at book one to get the whole Coleman effect. Rocky Retreat makes a great addition to the series.

This sexy romantic novella, part of the Six Pack Ranch series is the story of Lee and Rachel. Lee's been carrying a torch for Rachel for months, but backed off when she wouldn't take him seriously because of their age difference, him being 24 and her 33. When Rachel marries another man and ends up heartbroken, he regrets that he didn't make her take him seriously. When they end up snowed in together as Rachel is coming to terms with her divorce, Lee sees his chance to make up for lost time and show her that things between them can work, if she'll give him the chance to prove it.This was a fun, sexy, and entertaining story! Lee is a handsome, mature young man who comes across as levelheaded and knowing exactly what he wants - and he wants Rachel, not for a fling but for the long haul. Rachel is naturally reluctant, having just come out of a bad relationship but she's always been attracted to Lee despite their age difference that kept her at bay. Stuck in a snowbound cabin together, the sexual tension is present from the start of the story and the eventual love scenes between them are sweet and sexy, showcasing tender emotion and steamy heat. I loved the two of them together, and that Lee is able to convince Rachel that she needs to look past their age difference and see the determined man that he is. We get glimpses of the other characters in the series and as always, it's an enjoyable mix of camaraderie and humour between the siblings and cousins as they encourage the relationship between Rachel and Lee. A great addition to the series. 4 stars.

The latest installment in Vivian Arend’s Six Pack Ranch series brings us Lee Coleman, part of the Moonshine Colemans of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. It’s a novella, a change from the past books in the series which were full-length. It still gives us all the heat and fun that the other books in the series are best known for.Lee Coleman is in love and in deep. The problem is the girl is married and ten years older than his twenty-four years. Lee perseveres and six months later, Rachel is divorced from her cheating husband and hurting and Lee might just be the medicine she needs if she’ll let him in.The story deals with a number of issues including adultery, mental abuse, self-worth and age discrimination. Vivian Arend tackles these issues well and with great compassion. Like his Coleman cousins and brothers, Lee knows how to make a woman happy and learns a bit about himself along the way. The plot is well executed and fresh with great supporting characters especially Lee’s brother Trevor, the unknowing facilitator of the relationship. While part of a series, it is a stand-alone and can be read without reading the other books. But I do recommend reading all the Six Pack Ranch books for the entire story of this great family dynasty. The first book in the series, ROCKY MOUNTAIN HEAT is free as of this post date at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

My day always brightens when I know there is a new Rocky Mountain Romance book to read. Vivian Arend does an amazing job with this series and everyone should to get to know the Colemans! In Rocky Retreat we get learn about Lee Coleman and Rachel Malone. Now, Lee has been wanting Rachel for awhile and continued to ask her out but she always turned him down due to his age. Lady is crazy to turn down a Coleman....just saying. Rachel then gets married but the marriage is not a happy one. Her husband doesn't understand the term faithful. The thing I loved most about Rachel, was that she divorced him. She didn't try to make excuses for him or forgive him....she left him. I love that. So Rachel heads to a cabin to make sense of things and come to terms with the end of her marriage, but finds herself stuck in the middle of a snowstorm...now don't feel to bad for her, cause Lee shows up at the right time. Lee is definitely a characters who embodies the term hero. He's always had a thing for her, but shows her that he cares for her by not immediately sexing her up. He wants to date her and shows her how much he cares. Don't worry...there will be sexy times and they will be HOT! Another great read by Vivian Arend and I can't wait to read more!

Older woman, younger guy is my catnip and I couldn't have been happier when I found out that Lee was quite younger than Rachel was. Lee is fabulous. He's sweet but is very adamant about deciding how they will go about this relationship. It's been a tad too long since I read the last Six Pack book because I was completely lost where the family tree was concerned. I had to look up review notes of previous books and Vivian Arend's website to get them all a bit familiar again. The romance builds very slowly in this book and for the limited amount of pages it had (it is a novella) it might have been a tad too slow. I had some trouble believing in the change in Rachel's feelings as I could get into the sexual attraction she had to Lee but wasn't convinced of her love feelings as much as I was of Lee's feelings for her. Also the happening at the end of the book threw me for a loop...How? Why? I didn't understand why this was included in the romance. It just confused me.Sometimes it happens...you want to love a book because you love the series and you love the author's writing and voice but I just couldn't with this novella. It didn't engage me and keep me captivated as the books before it have and it was just an okay read.

Rocky Retreat by Vivian Arend is a fun read, in addition to being a nice addition to her Six Pack Ranch series. This is the love story between Rachel Malone, a recently divorced waitress, and Lee Coleman, a well-known local rancher. Lee has lusted after Rachel since she arrived in Rocky Mountain House and even asked her out a few times, so when she got married, he was devastated. Time went on and a short while later, Rachel's marriage ended, due to her husband's philandering. Needless to say, Rachel needed to regroup, cry it out and think about her future, so she decided to spend a few days in a remote cabin in the mountains. Lee ends up on her doorstep, after securing his cattle and being unable to return home because of the heavy snowfall. I enjoyed this novella, although I found the pace to be a little slow for my tastes. Rachel and Lee are likeable, realistic characters that are both interesting and engaging. I especially liked Rachel, because her plight was easy to identify with. I enjoy the "stranded" romance trope and Ms. Arend's interpretation is particularly charming. Rocky Retreat and the entire Six Pack Ranch series should definitely be added to your TBR list.Complimentary copy provided by the author.

Lee Coleman has been in love with Rachel since he laid eyes on her. Unfortunately every time he tried to act on it and asked her out she shot him down. Not only did she shoot him down but she joked and laughed like she didn't take his interest in her seriously!8 months ago his heart broke when he heard that Rachel walked down the aisle with Gary. Then a few months later there was another break, this time it was Gary's nose breaking under Lee's fist when he caught Gary cheating on Rachel publicly. Now Rachel has seen the light, and seen herself being cheated on and left Gary and her marriage! Taking a breather before returning to her home and job as a newly single and humiliated woman, Rachel borrows a remote cabin to spend some time getting her head straight when in the middle of a terrible snowstorm she gets an unexpected visitor, Lee Coleman. Lee cant believe his good fortune after his snowmobile broke down while checking on his family's heard to stumble on a cabin and get stormed in with the woman of his dreams! Now he just has to convince her to give him a chance to show her that his feelings are serious and that not even man is like her ex husband.

Lee Coleman used to be head over heels in love with a woman. She was "in love" with someone else, so he let her go. She ended up getting married to this man. Lee through himself into his work to try to forget about her. When A winter storm was coming he had to go check on the animals. It was blizzard like so he decided to hunker down in a hunters cabin and wait the storm out. Much to his surprise someone was already occupying the cabin. After Rachel Malone's husband decided to cheat on her, she left him. She wanted to go someplace to be completely alone to work through her feelings before she had to face the real world. So imagine her surprise when Lee Coleman came pounding on the door. Rachel decides the best way to get her ex off her mind is to get herself under another man. They had mad sexual chemistry so it seemed like the thing to do. Lee on the other hand wasn't about to let that happen. He didn't want to be her Mr. Right Now, he wanted to be her Mr. Forever, so he declared they wouldn't be having sexual relations. Things get super steamy.

The May/December romance of Lee & Rachel is sweet & sad. Lee has liked Rachel for a long time & has asked her out several times to which she has turned him down every time. Rachel quickly married someone she thought she could trust & who loved her but found out that he'd been cheating on her even before they got married. Now 5 months later she's signing the divorce payments & coming home to lick her wounds & restart her life. She's trapped in a cabin rental in a snow storm when someone comes along looking for shelter....it's Lee. They have chemistry but he wants more than a fling & he will hold out until he proves himself to Rachel. After being rescued he talks her into letting him date her & the relationship begins. She's worried that because she's older than Lee people will think she's a cradle robber but Lee doesn't care about the age difference he loves her. Great continuation in the series.

Rachel retreats to a cabin in the woods to get over the breakup of her six-month marriage, when along comes Lee Colemen. Getting stranded together in the small cabin gives them time to talk, and other things, and it's the beginning of a really sweet novella-sized romance.I loved everything about this. The older woman-younger man, his maturity, and her determination to move past her cheating spouse all hit wonderful notes for me in this story. The drama is light, the romance is hot, and the adults all act like adults. I couldn't have asked for more in a romance, and it was a great little read for this Valentine's Day.ARC provided for review. This review appears on my blog at:http://redhotbluereads.blogspot.com/2015/02/arc-reviewrocky-retreat-six-pack-ranch.html
