To do so, he must return to the city he fled, and face the men who may have been responsible for his mother's death and his father's disappearance. Each character is magnificently realized and flawlessly written. Take a multifarious plot, spice liberally with intrigue, add a dash of delightful pacing, and you have a formula for a satisfying and unforgettable read." – Lawrence Kane, ForeWord Magazine...

WOW. This book was so good and full of so many intrigues that it was honestly hard to keep up. Poor Mark. He really goes through the ringer in this one and I had so many FEELS for him. Mark so badly wants to be loved and wants to banish his loneliness. I just wanted to pull him into a hug and let him cry it out. I immediately bought book 3. Cannot wait to start.
This novel brings out so much feeling in reader that when you sit down for one word your stuck.... Amazing, brilliant, confusing, masterpiece, irritation, clever ... E list could go on. The rad is like a roller coaster ride, extremely fast and a bit confusing at times, loads of heart in the mouth climbs and drops , slow then fast, twists and turns, things you did not expect and others you could see. Mark/lark on a whole the author has developed from the poor victim into a man who is taking control of his destiny, I think!!! The other main characters you have a mix the ones I just adore and then those who your just want to shake sense into. The plots complex but yet simple. The concept of masks, ALL, jesters, spirits, I must admit I'm never quite sure I understand, and I am 10% through the last book. But then again I think this is one of the clever parts of the authors creation here. Mark, gutter, they all struggle with it. It might be that you can read and reread these books and never get there. All in ALL love the book and happily going starting the 3rd book.
Second book in the Jester series with Lark/Mark Seaton who is still only 19 years old and finding out the difference between lust and love while changing the politics of each country that he visits.Mark goes back to his roots and watches his old life die and fade away as he gets caught up in a plot to overthrow the monarchy of his birth nation. Mark/Lark in less then two months adopts his new island nation with no regrets or questions so when he throws himself into politics and intrigue in his old country, he knows that if he can cure his poisoning that he has another place to live the rest of his life. There is a kind of ending in this one so I'm quitting this world at this point because it is a weird world of fantasy and mask magic. 320 pages and bought for kindle and there is a third book in this cliffhanger style series2 stars
Not as good as the first book but plenty of twists to keep you guessing
PhenomenalPrazeman has done it again! This well crafted novel continues to captivate and hold you on the edge of your seat.Mark's youthful naivety and his unpredictable behavior kept me so stressed. I was afraid he was going to mess everything up. In the end I was left feeling okay and a bit surprised. Excellent work!
Again, the world-building, characterizations, drama and emotional connection in this series just work for me. So much so that I had to buy book three before I finished this book, because it looked like I might be in an area without connectivity when I finished. And yes, I immediately began the next book.
