Three times I have received a copy of R.L. Merrills’ books and three times I’ve been over the moon in love with her leading male hero. In Teacher, Danny Black solidified the trifecta. If you read no further than this opening paragraph then know right now, this is another 5 star read with my recommendation. Once again R.L. Merrill delivers a story with a unique twist that incorporates the world of rock-n-roll music. In Haunted, we lived with the band while they worked through heavy emotional barriers. In The Rock Season, we were concert buddies bonded by love for a similar taste in music. And in Teacher, well...I think you get it.From the synopsis you get the gist of the premise. For me, I think its a unique setup for bringing together Jesse Martin and Danny Black. I like to think they are fated so it would have happened at some point anyway. But in Teacher we get see people begin their connection with a working relationship where they are challenged by communications, an instant attraction, and two people facing changes to how they earn their livelihood. The great Danny Black is a man not to be trifled with. That he is a bossy man is no surprise; he leads a rock band; is devoted to his daughter, and has a generous nature. His generosity naturally translates into a controlling nature and well, he just can’t help himself. It's through his devotion to his daughter that he decides to get that diploma he missed out on so he can set a good example.Teacher is told through Jesse’s POV so I was quick to warm up to her. Jesse can be characterized by her sensible nature and the devotion she has for her family. One thing's for certain, Jesse is blessedly a straight shooter so the angst that will come cannot be attributed to her communication skills. About those communication skills; she is funny, snarky and clever and more than once she had me laughing. Jesse has a strong moral compass and likes to be self sufficient. But that doesn’t always work out for her, especially when Danny Black enters her world. What follows, the connection between Danny and Jesse, is tested from the very start. Issues of what's ethical in a teacher to student relationship are complicated by trust and poor judgment and hinder their development. It's not enough that the two have their own hang-ups and fears about being together, but they also share their world with a myriad of wonderfully crazy, sweet, and sometimes devious secondary characters who all have opinions about their relationship. Most of them are good and positive influencers but all it takes is one bad apple...(pun intended)It was only as the story was ending that I discovered its going to continue in two more books. I can't wait to revisit their lives and the many characters that surround them. R.L. Merrills’ storylines and characters are some of the easiest to just “get” and that is wholly attributed to her detailed and descriptive writing style. Once again she's confirmed there are many great reasons as to why I am a fan and its always nice to be proven right.5 #RecoveringJackA$$ Stars and Recommendation!

Words cannot begin to describe the writing prowess of R.L. Merrill. She completely engulfs the reader in feelings of each character, the plot is so real you feel like you're reading your friends diary not a story. This is an author whom before this book I had no idea existed, but after reading it I can guarantee you I will stalk for the rest of her writing career!Jesse Martin is a young woman who had her dreams ripped from her by a debilitating disease, but she didn't let it get her down. She changed career paths and works with those who others have given up on, touching so many lives and making them the center of her world. Jesse is an independent study teacher working with a high school in Hollywood. Her students are those that couldn't attend public schools or got kicked out, ones who may never have known what it was like to receive a diploma if it weren't for people like her. She receives a new student who just so happens to be the lead singer of Blackened, one of her favorite bands.Danny Black is the lead singer of Blackened, who has a little girl preparing to enter junior high and an ex-wife who loves to rub it in his face that he never graduated. Danny had to undergo surgery to remove scar tissue from his vocal cords and faced with the what-ifs when worrying if he will ever be able to sing again he decides to take the step and do whatever it takes to get HIS diploma. He hires in Jesse to tutor him at his home and they find a fondness for each other.Jesse wants to do things by the book and not risk over-stepping any boundaries, even though her and Danny are consenting adults she will not allow the fondness to grow into anything more while she is his teacher. They are faced with having to choose whether to continue on with Danny's goal of his diploma or following their hearts to let the feelings they have for one another grow. What will they decide? And what will his daughter think? Will they be able to keep their eyes in the books or will the lust filled gazes prove to be too much?

I enjoyed this book, I liked the first half better than the second half, because the second half tended to drag. At times I was annoyed with both Danny and Jesse, especially Danny. Danny was a perfect brooding, sexy, foul mouthed rocker and in Jesse he met his match, but dammit make up your mind. He was so hot and cold with Jesse, I at one point was hoping Jesse would just stop taking his crap! Jesse was a little harder to connect with, because I felt she had so many hangups, it was just harder to really know her. I am a little confused because I didn't really find the need for 2 more books about them. It all seemed to be wrapped up at the end of this one, unless the next books are about other members of the band, but it didn't seem that way!!

I received this Ark and it's is absolutely fantastic! Jesse is a teacher possibly losing her job next year and sending home money to her parent so she's pretty broke and lives on the wrong side of town. When Danny from a rock and roll band decides to go back to school to get his diploma and he can't talk at first be because of surgery on his throat. So she becomes his teacher. Slowly they end up falling for each other. It's been an up and down relationship for Danny and Jesse! You absolutely must read! I so cannot wait for the next installment!

This review can also be found on: http://bbf-book-boyfriends.blogspot.de/I was lucky enough to receive review copies of those books by the author! And in the end, I think she gave me book two only because I basically begged her to LOL So thank you lady!!!This is the story of Jesse Martin, who works as a teacher but barely makes ends meet. When the school year comes to an end and she realizes that she might not have a job for the next one, she becomes desperate. Or let's say, she looks for way to support not only herself, but her parents as well. Her savior should come in the form of rock god Danny Black. Out with a voice that is currently healing from surgery, he wants to make his daughter proud and earn his high school diploma. And Jesse is just the one that is supposed to help him with that. While going on this learning journey, the two of them soon realize that there is more to those study sessions than simple learning about math or science. They learn about each other and about themselves, and before they can help it, school is not the only thing on their mind anymore. That is all I'm gonna say storywise. Simply, because you're supposed to read the story, not have me recollect it for you. So go and get the book now. You will enjoy it!!!!I truly loved Jesse's character. She's selfless to the bone, always looking out for others before looking out for herself. She takes care somewhat of her rowdy neighbors, sends money to her parents to make sure they can get by, and would most likely help whatever random person she meets on the street if necessary. That's just the kind of person she is. And I love that in her. Plus, she doesn't let anything get her down. Not the way money is tight, not the way Danny is acting towards her in the beginning. She's tackling every problem head on and doesn't shy away from them. The only life altering decision she thinks about longer is something that happens in book two, but I won't spoil you what it is. Let's just say it was something where I could completely understand her hesitation or need to keep a clear head and some distance.Danny on the other hand is truly amazing as well. You would think being the rock god he is, it had gotten to his head, but he's a kind and caring person, that does so many things for the people around him that it's hard not to fall in love with him. And then the way he deals with his daughter is beautiful as well. If there's one thing in this world that Danny loves, it's his daughter, and he would literally do anything for her. Like getting his high school diploma. It's such a great thing to watch. And seeing Danny go from the grumpy man he was in the beginning to the person he is at the end of book two is already amazing. When it comes to helping people, Danny and Jesse are similar, always wanting to make sure that others are okay before looking at themselves. R.L. Merrill's writing flows easily, so that you have no trouble getting sucked into the story. With everything that happens in book one and two, it's easy to fall in love with the characters and yet feel the need to yell at them from time to time. It's emotional, no doubt about that, because as usual, not everything is rainbows and sunshine. But the writing makes it easy to get lost and just enjoy the ride completely. I, for one, cannot wait to read the third book in this series. It's truly been a pleasure reading these two books so I wanna say thank you again to R.L. Merrill for letting me read her work. Definitely gonna keep at it. Both books have received four book boyfriends from me!!Always yours,Yvi

    * I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *This is the second book by author R.L. Merrill that I have read and each book that I read by her continues to amaze and astound me. She reminds me of a much more seasoned author - I swear that I have read best selling authors with over 20 books out that are not as amazing as R.L.'s!! Her books take on an energy that buzzes straight through the pages and into the reader. The characters are amazing, relatable and fun! The plot has some serious loops, curves and twists and the reader is constantly on the edge of their seat wondering what is going to happen next! Jesse is an overworked, underpaid teacher who is trying to survive on her own and help her parents at the same time. She has been through some tough times, but it doesn't diminish her spirit or her ability to give to others. Danny is a singer who just went through surgery and is worried about everything and anything and needs help with getting his high school diploma. Fate intervenes and the two of them are brought together. The characters are so likable that you can't help but root for them at every turn. The reader becomes friends with the characters and even after you have finished reading the story, you think about them long after you are done. The author took several hard topics and topics that some readers wouldn't know much about and sheds some light on them. For instance, Rheumatoid Arthritis, is one that the author talks about and it really makes the reader understand how people with this suffer and that there are things that help, hurt and prolong the effects. Another taboo topic she mentions is the fact that Danny's daughter, Jane, is going through some really tough things and she has been using cutting as a coping mechanism. The author is so respectful of the topics, the treatments and the way in which she brings them into the story that the reader can't help but see the love that the author has for her characters and the respect that she has for people who are going through tough times.I am already hooked on this series and have started book 2 - and am waiting for a publish date for book 3 - that is how amazing this series is and I know it will continue to be! Make sure you add this book to your TBR list and add it soon! You don't want to miss a minute of this crazy world!! Enjoy! ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. Teacher by R. L. Merrill A STEAMY FIVE STAR READ!!!Jesse Martin has been teaching for five years for the Hollywood Independent study program and faces a pink slip at the end of this school year.  For the summer, Jesse accepts an assignment to work as a Home Instructor with a wealthy man who decided to finally earn his high school diploma while recovering from a medical procedure.Danny Black is the front man for the widely popular rock group, Blackened.  His ex-wife told Jane, his twelve year old daughter, he never graduated from high school.  To remove ammunition from the hands of his unbalanced ex-wife and to make his daughter proud, Danny decides to get his diploma with help of the Teacher. This is the start of a major challenge in the lives of Jesse Martin, teacher and Danny Black, rock god.  It is hard to tell who is the most stubborn.  The two are drawn to other as if a tether has them bound together.  Jesse thought, the tether was like “something pulling us together and it felt comforting and sensual at the same time”.  What are they going to do to overcome the taboo of a teacher student relationship?   Will Danny’s daughter accept her or will she be seen as just one more person who wants her father’s time and attention? This is the first book that I have read by author R. L. Merrill and highly recommend reading the Trilogy. I love her characters and the plot had unexpected twists and turns and it had all the steamy bits that keep you reading late into the night.  I laughed out loud at some of the things the character Jane had to say.  There are several layers to the story of Teacher; it is more than just a love story.  It is important to read the books in the order written.  I was so please that Teacher: Act Two was available when I finished the first book so that I could continue with the story of Danny Black and Jesse Martin.

** Provided on behalf of the author for an honest review **We meet Jesse Martin, a school teacher that loves everything she does. She is a girl that loves teaching, but as a teacher she is in a financial struggle. With paying bills and sending money to her parents she needs to find a job to help get her through summer. But how can she do that with the chance that her job may not be there after summer due to budget cuts?Jesse is offered a summer job to a student that left school at the age of 17 who now wants a get his diploma. The students name…. Danny BlackA famous singer, a rock and roll star. How will this situation work? Can Jesse teach this rock star what he needs to know?Is he even serious about the work that needs to be done to get his diploma? To Jesse’s surprise Danny works extremely hard to get this done. The reason for him now wanting to get his diploma is a great reason to stay motivated. Things with Jesse and Danny start to heat up, but as Danny’s teacher, Jesse will not let anything happen between them that will ruin his chance of getting his diploma or ruin her teaching career. So many things happen between Jesse and Danny that makes them both question if they will ever be together or are things going to just simply be too hard? Can and or will Jesse fit into Danny’s rock star life?Does Jesse even want to be in it?Will Danny break her heart? This book is a great read. It leaves you wanting more. So many questions to be answered, we cannot wait to read the second instalment to find out what happens next.RL Merrill again has produced another amazing read with this novel.A must for everyone’s TBR list.A definite 4 star read for us.

OMG I loved this book!I'll be honest...at first, I wasn't sure if I would like this book and kinda put off reading it until the last minute...but boy am I so glad I finally read it. Now, I am kicking myself for being so stupid and not starting it sooner.I literally could not put this down. You name it, I was reading while doing it....I never left my bedroom except to let the puppy out and even then, I carried my tablet to read it while I let him out and back in again LOL.This is a three part series but can be read as a stand alone. It does have a happy ending but not the final HEA. So of course there will be more angst to come I am sure but if you wanted to stop here, you could. But don't!!! I have got to read more. I can not wait to read book 2 and 3.I was sucked in from the very beginning. I can not put my finger on what was so good about this book. It was all so wonderfully written. It had heart ache, laughter, tears, heart twinge moments and all in all good writing. Great storyline, great dialogue for the characters and great descriptions to details. The characters and their story was told in such great detail that it was well written and never boring. This was a single pov (Jesse) but I would loved to have seen some of Danny's pov. Maybe in book 2 we will see some of his. The author was detailed enough to give us snippets of what Danny thought by conversations his housekeeper had with Jesse, letting him know how Danny was feeling and why he was behaving the way that he did so that helped. Still would have preferred Danny telling us himself but still, all in all a great read.Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!Would I read more from this author? Yes!Sassy Beta Reading & Reviewwww.facebook.com/sassybetareading

***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review***Jesse is a poor high school teacher that could use a little extra cash, so she takes on a mystery student over the summer. Danny is a rock god, but his daughter’s disappointment leads him to seek out his GED while he’s laid up with throat surgery. Their attraction is instantaneous, but can they keep their hands off of each other until she’s no longer his teacher? Once again, R.L. Merrill has created a deep story where the sparks fly! Jesse is very down to earth but passionate about what she does. Danny can be dark, gritty, and even mischievous, but also has a softer side, especially when it comes to his daughter. They’ve both had to deal with similar struggles with following, and possibly losing, their dreams, and that helps bring them together. I also love the supporting cast of characters, like Jesse’s rock and roll, hard partying landlord Cosmo and Nora, who works for Danny but is more like a mother figure to him. I know this is the first part of a trilogy, so I’m hoping we some of them again! This was definitely my favorite book from R.L Merrill so far! Each book gets better and better, so I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

I am new to R.L. Merrill as an author, and I for sure found a new author to devour books from. Teacher is a story about Jesse, a teacher that is offered a job to help an adult student complete classes and earn his diploma. What she did know was WHO she would be teaching. Danny seems like he should have it all, he is the lead singer for a popular band, has a beautiful daughter. But trouble with his ex-wife causes him loads of grief. Through out the story I was sad, and happy and entirely freaking mad at points. This book brought out a ton of emotions, so much so, that I tried to start reading another book when I finished Teacher, and I had to wait over a day to decide to try and read something else. I will be diving into book 2 this weekend and I cannot wait! R.L. Merrill writes in a way that makes you feel like you are in her book and that these are not just characters, they are friends. This book was beautifully written and edited. I haven't found a book that made me react like this for a long time. I cannot wait to read all of R.L. Merrill's books now, and I would highly encourage anyone reading this review to grab a copy and hang on for the ride!

My ReviewJesse is a high school teacher, working for the Summer as a tutor for the schools home learning scheme in the knowledge that her job after the Summer is in no way secure. She lives in an apartment run by her rock band playing, drug using, and heavy drinking neighbour (Whom i adore by the way) in a less than luxurious area.Danny is a rock god whose just had an operation to remove nodules from his vocal cord and is terrified that the lose of his voice will be a permanent one. He hires Jesse to help him study and prepare to pass his high school diploma! He's rich, angry at the world and still extremely hurt over his marriage break up. The two have an instant spark and things quickly escalate to a mass of heated sexual tension but will Jesse manage to keep things professional until Danny graduates? Well...to find that out you'll need to read the book...and trust me, you want to read this book!Merrill has managed to combine a sweet and innocent character with a damaged rockstar in a believable way...something that i often criticise in other authors...well written with moments of absolute hilarity. Highly recommend! 4 stars!

I received a copy of the ebook in exchanged for my honest opinion. I loved this book a lot. I did not think I would love it this much, but there is something about Jesse and Danny that makes you fall in love with them. With the emailing each other, you see how they are getting to know one another. I could not believe how these characters just leap off of the pages. It is like I am there watching it all fold out. I could see Danny working hard on getting his diploma in order to be something in his daughter's eyes. I could see Jesse in that Pinto she drives and having car issues. I think we all have been there. I could see Nora helping Danny out and praising him on all his great work. I could see how good Jesse is for Danny, but also for his daughter. I could also see that Danny's ex-wife will think that Jesse is good for him and their daughter, but that might take some time.I can not wait to read the rest of this series. I can not wait to see how it ends. I will definitely be reading the rest.☆☆☆☆☆I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.Would I recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes!Would I read more from this author? *** I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review ***Teacher … where do I start?? This to me has been by far one of my top two favorite books by R.L. Merrill. Read the book and just thank a teacher when you're done for all the hard work they go through.Teacher begins with summer school almost starting at a school that is getting ready to cut positions. Jesse has been teaching at Hollywood Independent Study program and after five years she's already received five pink slips. She's offered this deal of a lifetime where she can save some money up and its where she'll be doing a home study program for one of the top clients. She's going to help him study for his degree after he dropped out at 17. Wait until you find out who he is and what happens through this book! If you've ever read one of R.L. Merrill's books you know that there's rock-n-roll involved as well as sometimes more adult situations. Let me tell you though ladies, the main guy Danny Black, is just something that can only come from dreams! Please satisfy your curiosity already and buy a copy! I cant wait for you to read Teacher and I didn’t even write the book!

R.L. MerrillThis book was wonderful. With a slow build of delicious tension the author gave plenty of time to get invested in both Danny and Jesse. My heart broke for both of them and the struggles they both faced but also glowed when they got the chance to be happy. The heat behind the couple was strongly felt. It was almost like watching a dance. You could see them circling each other getting closer and closer all while dealing with struggles put before them. Danny was simply charming. His 'gimme' smile isn't just a smile it radiates through his personality and he had me wanting to give him whatever he asked for! Jesse was sweet. Honest and hardworking, I loved her perseverance. The writing was brilliant and flowed so well it had me turning pages quickly wanting to know what was going to happen next! I would highly recommend this book and I will definitely be anxiously awaiting book 2!

Jesse has taught the Hollywood Independent Study program in her district for 5 years. Being a teacher doesn't pay much, and programs like hers are always the first to be axed when a budget needed to be lighted. So when an opportunity to make money during the summer came to her she agreed to it.When his daughter asked why he didn't get his diploma, rock God Danny Black, decides to be an example, and finish school. What he didn't expect was a gorgeous teacher to come around and teach him how to love again. Jesse had every teacher's dream, a student who can't talk back!!!! lmao. Danny always got around that though. What I loved is how sweet to her he is when she is having flares. I know how used to pain someone can be that they are used to coping with it alone. I am happy that he didn't let her go through it alone no matter how many times she said she didn't need him. The one thing I hated was Danny pushing Jesse away. He is lucky he has Nora to slap him upside the head. This is a sweet story that I adored. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Sweet romanceI didn't know what to expect from this book, and at first I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style was a little awkward, but the story was cute. There isn't insta-love per say, but pretty close. However, the author did a good job demonstrating that connection. Oddly enough, I liked it less once the characters got together. At that point, the writing felt more cliche, the romance turned overly sweet, the angst was odd, and the dialogue came off more juvenile (lots of giggling and of puns). I was further disappointed when the hero and heroine finally get together and I didn't feel as much heat as was present in their sexual tension when they first meet. Although, I liked the characters, this was a little too sweet for my taste, and I won't be reading more.

First we had Haunted, then we had Rock Season, and now we have Teacher, and it is absolutely fantastic!! I loved every word. We have Jesse, who is a teacher, who fears she might be losing her job due to budget cuts. She lives in a not so great area of Hollywood, and has some very amusing neighbors who live next door. We also have Danny Black, a rock star who never got his high school diploma, who lives in a fancy Hollywood Hills mansion, and who also has a daughter. Jesse is asked to home tutor him, and what happens from there is pure magic! I just love the characters in this book, they are so likable, and so real. The setting is great, I always love books based in Hollywood. I am so glad this book is a trilogy, because I cant wait to see what happens next. This author is not to be missed!!!

I didn't expect this book the way it was written, the characters surprised me and the story line was amazing! Jesse is a teacher who is amazing at her job, but lived with the bare minimum in her run down apartment, she helps support her parents as much as she can and she deal with RA! Shes a very strong woman and takes as much care of herself as she can! Danny is the lead singer of Blackened a rock n roll band, is divorced and has a preteen daughter whom he loves with everything he has! He also can't sing or talk due to just having surgery on this throat! But when Jesse walks into Danny's life all things and people involved change forever! Can this amazing couple make it or will the issues that come with their background keep them apart! An amazing read and I can't wait to find out what happens next!

What a terrific story, cannot wait to read Part Two! Jesse Martin collects her pink slip and needs to find some way to pay the bills so when offered a chance to be a Home Instructor she takes it, even though it is to a rock god with an attitude. Danny expects everyone to melt when he flashes his smile, but Jesse doesn't. Danny takes this as a challenge and feels the need to break through her defenses and try to win. I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did but wow did I! It is terrific, so well written with characters that consist of so much more than just fluff. They have a professional relationship first but chemistry is thrown into the mix and wow does it mix in well. This is the first story I have read by this author, but it will definitely not be my last.

This is my first read from R. L. Merrill and I can assure you it will not be my last! I absolutely loved this book; I would even say this is one of my top 5 for the year! I was hooked from the very start and could not put it down. It is extremely well written, and the character development and storyline was superb; from the main characters to the secondary, everything flowed smoothly. I laughed, was irritated, cried, and loved right along with Jesse and Danny. There are so many things I love about Teacher; I don’t know where to start. Plus, I don’t think they will allow a review to be that long! Really…It’s that outstanding!!This is book one in a trilogy and I cannot wait to fill my library with the others and many more books from R. L. Merrill.

It turns out to be more than Jesse bargained for.Danny is a rock star trying to recover from throat surgery. He decides to get his diploma for his daughter and recruits a teacher for help. Little did he know she would be everything he wanted and needed. Can he get over himself in time to make it work or will he lose her??

Even though there was some halfway heavy stuff in this book, I still thought it was a fun, light read. I think I've read too many soul crushing, super sad, crying all night books. :) I enjoyed that this book did have it's downs, but it was still a feel-good book. The characters were easy to like and the plot line progressed at a good pace.

Not your normal rocker readI loved this story. When I saw it was a rocker story I thought sex drugs an rock &roll. This is so beyond that. Danny an Jesse's story will enchant you. They will be in your thoughts when your not able to read. R.L. Merrill really knows how capture your attention....heart an soul.

I have found my new dream guy!!!Jesse & Danny are great characters who are very well developed. I absolutely loved the story line. Can you keep your hands off till you’re no longer teacher/student??? This book touched on all emotions at some point and definitely a bit of pulling at the heart strings. Danny is my new dream man!!! Another amazing R.L. Merrill read!

I'm in love.I fell in love with this book in the first chapter. I couldn't put it down. A gorgeous rock star that enjoys Romeo and Juliet. It doesn't get any better than this. Your best book yet. Thank you.
