ARC received from NetGalley for honest review. What an absolutely amazing and beautiful story! This book touches on so many different topics and is done so flawlessly it's kind of mind blowing.I loved how the Author took chances with this one a breached topics that other's steer clear from. It just make the book that much better in my opinion and took it out of the typical romance/new adult category. I loved how Billy and Shae's relationship grew over time and wasn't an overnight thing. The way the Author built it up as the book went along was great and did an amazing job at creating this picturesque couple for the reader to enjoy. The plot line was original and flowed beautifully and did a great job at keeping me one hundred percent engaged all the way through.Overall this was an amazing read that I went through in one sitting.I honestly cannot wait to see what else this Author has up her sleeve!

Wow I thought the book was okay just not as great as many others felt it was. I felt disconnected from the characters and I never felt like I understood where they were going. Real life events just too much going on with the sub-characters, etc.

Our Rating: Billy and his brother Cole live and breathe rodeo, but after their dad was killed in a rodeo accident, they’ve had more than their fair share of burdens. After losing their father, they lost the family ranch, and it’s all they can do to keep their heads above water. Now they’re having to take care of their mother, whose MS is only getting worse, and with Cole’s gambling issues and Billy’s plans to retire before the rodeo does him in, things aren’t exactly looking up. Good girl Shae understands what he’s going through, and she’d love to be more than just a sympathetic ear, but she’s not sure Billy can be the man she needs him to be.The Verdict: I’m a sucker for the modern western, but it’s not too often I get the chance to read one in the New Adult category, so I was really looking forward to seeing how Rank would play out — and it was even better than I’d hoped!Billy and Cole haven’t had it easy, but they’ve partied it up on the rodeo circuit for years, and if there’s one group that likes to gossip, it’s the group of cowboys and competitors that travel to the same exhibitions on a regular basis. But Shae lost her heart to Billy years ago, and even though she suspects it’s hopeless, that old flame still burns. In many ways, Shae is Billy’s opposite. She’s a regular on the circuit as well, but while Billy and Cole are always finding trouble, Shae’s the good girl that Billy’s always overlooked in favor of someone flashier, easier, and wilder. When he finally gets his head on straight and really takes notice of her, he’s got an uphill battle to get his life under control and be the kind of guy who can commit to Shae and make her happy.Their relationship isn’t your typical romance, and that’s what makes their story such a fantastic read. It’s a series of ups and downs, misunderstandings and bad decisions, and all the emotions that go along. Instead of coming together and falling in love overnight, they make mistakes, read each other wrong, and fight their feelings when they finally seem to be making sense of things. With all the highs and lows of a romance typical of their age group, Billy and Shae make a mess of things before they finally get their hearts straight.Through it all, the cast of secondary characters keeps things even more interesting by manufacturing just the kind of drama that always gets in the way of a smooth ride. But just when I expected a scene to fall victim to the type of cliche all too common in romances, things took a more believable turn, with a depth to the characters that accurately reflects real life. Their feelings and hesitations were everything anyone who has survived early adulthood can relate to, and even though their story eventually heads toward happily ever after, it never felt manufactured.Rank is a refreshingly different new adult romance with complex and believably flawed characters, plenty of real life challenges and the mistakes they make facing them, and a raw look at the often gritty world of rodeo. Unlike most of my country-themed favorite reads, Rank by D.R. Graham is one book I think will appeal to all contemporary romance fans.

This is my third D. R Graham book and by far my favourite. In fact Rank has made its way onto my favourite books list. I really liked the two YA books I've read by D. R Graham and needed something while I wait for the third book in the Britannia Beach series. This was exactly what I needed and I didn't even know I was looking for. As soon as I started reading Rank I knew I was reading something I was really going to love. It just felt like more. More angst. More drama. More feelings. I wasn't wrong. I experienced so many emotions reading this book and that's not to mention what the characters went through. I was completely immersed in and swept along with this story. The characters were so raw and real and the descriptions and dialogue so vivid that I truly felt like I was watching a film not only reading book. Hell I felt like I was right there. I could almost call up the sounds and smells.Honestly the more I think about this book the more I love it. I'm finding it difficult to articulate my thoughts and feelings about it. This is one of those books I want to tell everyone to read. I found myself thinking about this book in between the opportunities I had to read. I was desperate to get back to the characters. There's a couple of tropes I dislike in my books. Rank touched upon one and for a while it sent me running but when I told my best friend about my issues with it she said "books are supposed to make you feel... it's working." So wise my best one! I was so far into the book by this point and so attached to the characters and concerned for their wellbeing that I knew I wouldn't be able to stay away for long. Books from the male POV are my favourite so the fact this book is entirely from Billy's had me absolutely enamoured from page one. This is a new adult romance at its core and stunning one at that but Billy's relationship with his brother, his mom and the supporting characters really made this book the fully rounded experience that means Rank is a book I will think about for a long time to come. On the flip side of touching on tropes I dislike, Rank is basically in its entirety one of my favourite tropes! I loved this book and the characters D. R Graham creates so much that I can't wait to see what she writes next and also work my way through her previously published books while I wait.Rank is a standalone book and has a fantastically satisfying ending but I would absolutely read more books about these characters and I love standalone books above anything else. I am gutted to be leaving these characters behind!

4.5 StarsBilly is a retired bull rider. A tragic event from his past pushed him to no longer ride. His brother, Cole, is still active in the circuit and Billy goes with him when he rides. With mounting bills at home and a brother who has racked up his own debt, Billy needs to find a way to pay for everything. Working two jobs isn't cutting it.Shae-Lynn is a barrel racer. She's known Billy most of her life. Watching him and his brother having their ups and downs isn't easy for her. When Billy and Shae start talking on the phone it changes things. Billy's heart starts to get involved and he realizes he's never felt this way for anyone.Enter a jealous ex-fling and a mounting gambling debt from his brother. The pressure is on for Billy. An opportunity arises where, if he wins, he could greatly improve his family's financial situation. Can he get back on the bull after all this time? Will Shae stand by him or listen to the gossip that's spreading around the circuit? This story kept me flipping the pages throughout. There was never a dull moment and I got swept up by the characters. I loved the connection between Billy and Shae. If you love a good cowboy romance, then pick this up.Book received in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha.

This is a writer who knows young people. When we meet Billy, the narrator, he feels like a real person right from the start. We understand his pain and uncertainty about giving up a successful rodeo career, even though he is just out of his teens. The death of his father in a bull riding accident haunts his life as he struggles to cope with his infuriatingly unpredictable brother, Cole, and his widowed Mom who has MS.Graham is not scared to deal with the tricky issues of mental illness and we cannot fail to empathise with Billy's frustration when Cole refuses to comply with his medication and Billy has to bail him out time and time again. Yet it is Cole who forces Billy to face up to his demons: "you're too young to be tired," he tells him and he encourages Billy to date Tawnie, a stunningly pretty barrel racer. But it's Shae-Lynne, his childhood friend, who truly loves him and Billy finds himself having to deal with life-changing dilemmas. Skilled use of character development sees Billy mature, emotionally, as the plot twists and turns and it's hard not to fall in love with him! Graham shows us life in the raw; the gritty and often violent world of rodeo with its jealousies and family loyalties and we are served up a lovely twist at the end which makes this a gripping read.

RANK is a story that has a lot going for it. There’s sexy cowboys and the strong women who love them, but the story is strengthened by family and personal issues that threaten to keep our lovers apart. Our hero in RANK, Billy, is a true cowboy, taking on the responsibilities that are forced upon him head-on. He embodies the western way better than any characters I've read in a long time. His devotion to his family is admirable and totally sexy. Supporting characters play a larger role in this tale than other romances. They are the stumbling blocks in the way of our lovers' happiness, particularly Billy’s brother Cole and their mother. The conflict they add drives the story well. There are twists to the story that I didn't expect but all loose ends are tied in the endRANK is a more complicated story than the average western romance and I thank the author for it. Its realism and sensitivity to the problems addressed makes it more than worth a reader’s time. Heat level: 3.5 Rating: 5 stars

ARC provided by netgalley for an honest review. I truly enjoyed reading this book. It was a first for me when it comes to bull riding. I loved Billy and how even though he was so stressed out he still did what needed to be done to take care of his mother who has MS and his older brother who is bi- polar. Billy retired from bull riding after his dad had a wreck and passed away. He was spooked and didn't want to turn out like him. Shae- Lynn is a good girl who is an amazing barrel racer. Her and Billy become close and she has always been in love with him but Billy never really noticed her. He had a crush on a girl named Tawnie. She was really jealous and I didn't like her all that much. Billy really isn't feeling her as she is him. So he ignores her and continues to work two jobs and keep a much needed eyes on his brother. There is a lot of rodeo stuff going on and the struggles Billy goes through broke my heart. Shea-Lynn was amazing with Billy and made him feel at peace. I will not say anymore just that you have to pick the book up and read it

I enjoyed the fact that this wasn’t yet another cowboy story where the guy saves the day, gets the girl, and they ride into the sunset together. The main character of this particular story is a very troubled young man who seems to have forces working against him at every turn. The harder he works, the more things seem to blow up in his face. I enjoyed the fact that the author gave Billy Ray a nice list of flaws and also made him have to deal with the consequences of his actions.Although there are some pacing issues, the story stars out a bit slow and then has all kinds of stuff crammed into the last third, over all, I found this to be a very enjoyable story and spent a very pleasant afternoon reading it. I hope Ms. Graham has plans to write a story that features Billy Ray’s brother as the main character.

I'm on a role with cowboy love stories. This is a wonderful book. Shae and Billy are dynamic characters. I love so much about this story. It is refreshing to read a romance novel that is just that, pure romance. It's sweet and endearing and just good clean fun. Don't get me wrong, this story has some angst, and bad guys, and schemers, but it's just the right amount. This is a terrific New Adult novel that perfectly illustrates family bonds and loyalty. It's a funny and witty story that although touches on some serious stuff, is so tastefully done. This book has cowboys, cowgirls and the rodeo, what more do you need?

FTC: I received this book free of charge from netgalley.I liked how much of a quick read this book was for me. There weren't really any boring or empty spaces in the book, but at times it seemed like the book just moved too quickly if you know what I mean? I was satisfied with the ending but it seemed like it just all magically was put back together in a nice cookie cutter package, if that makes any sense at all. However, I would read this authors other books and this was a really quick read that I do not regret giving time to.

"Intense, emotional and complex, this is Friday Night Lights meets Nicholas Sparks' The Longest Ride... with edge" --Once I read this in the summary I was instantly intrigued! This book had some really entertaining characters and I thought the author handled the topic of mental illness really well. I really liked the character of Cole, you could see the struggle he was having with accepting the fact he had a mental illness. I really enjoyed the love story that unfolded between Billy and Shae. Overall, this was a fun read!

*** Copy provided by NetGalley for an honest review ***This was sweet and nice and lovely and young. And if I was a sweet, nice, lovely and young person, im positive I would adore it. but I'm none of those things. It was still a decent read though.I didnt think much of the leading lady, but I never do. Billy just broke my heart, being good, doing good. Just being himself. He was a sweetheart and it turns out, I now love rodeo boys!

Rodeo action, rowdy cowboys, sweet love story, and intensely layered family drama. Loved it. I cant decide if I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Billy and his brother, or Billy and Shae more. The relationship between Billy and his brother Cole is complex and so real given the situation. Shae is sweet and patient, but tough in the ways that matter (Perfect for Billy). Following Billy through his tough times, from his point of view, made for a really great read.
