Grief Counselling and grief therapy: a handbook for the mental health practitioner. 2nd. ed، c1991, J. William WordenGrieving over death is an innate, vital process that most people are able to experience and emerge from in a healthy manner.

This book is a great read in looking through and thinking about what grief counseling/therapy should look like.

I knew most of the stuff in here already, however, this book gave me great insights into a phenomenon I had not heard of before it was mentioned in a training I completed recently (and within this book): complicated mourning. Great intervention ideas and resources for therapists to utilize for working with those whose presenting struggle is grief/loss.

Excellent practical handbook for caregivers of people working through grief and loss. Learned about some of the tasks of mourning, what a number of potential complications to mourning often are, and how counselors and others can help people work through grief.

Very good. It gives a good analysis of grief counseling/therapy with practical information. Very useful in my line of work. The explanations in the book are kind of psychodynamic which I found interesting.

Helpful, practical and tactful. Dr. Worden brings his humanity and life experience as a counselor to his writing. Among the most helpful in this genre.

Good overview of grief therapy and counseling. Non-technical, more appropriate for church leadership, pastors and volunteers who work with those effected by grief.

Had to read it for Mortuary school, but I ended up turning to it again when a friend committed suicide and my other friends were not sure how to cope.
