    My niece enjoys this book. It asks you to do some simple yoga to get ready for bed while reading the story. She likes to make up her own poses and she still likes this one. I think the art is beautiful.

    I thought this was very good. A series of relaxing yoga poses with a somehow cheesy text. I liked it and we followed it once, but after that I have offered it to my daughter a few times and every time she said she preferred something else. Eventually she said she finds it too calm and with no excitement. I guess that means the book did its job.

    A simple bedtime yoga sequence geared towards kids but I think anyone can dig it. Beautiful illustrations, peaceful meditations and don't miss the kitty hiding on each page.

    Mariam Gates (of Kids Power Yoga) has written a very do-able yoga story, which includes helpful descriptions of each pose suggested by the story. As a read-aloud, this book may best be read in tandem, with one reader sharing the story, and the other using the provided narrative to lead the yoga poses. The illustrations by Sarah Jane Hinder are fanciful, but spot-on for this engaging addition to story-time literature, especially for those who offer Movement Story Times.

    This is a beautifully illustrated primer on basic yoga poses for children and adults. In each page the reader is introduced to a yoga pose appropriate to do before bedtime. I enjoyed seeing many racially diverse children in the book , and that the author had researched the proper way to do each pose. The art in this book is so atmospheric. You can feel the relaxation through tge pages!I also enjoyed the bedtime meditation at the end of the book. Children take to yoga very easily and this book can be a great evening ritual to help them relax and prepare for sleep.

    Our nanny brought this over one night and I don't know how it went with them (I assume great!) but for us it was a fun read. However, we do our reading at night in the rocking chair or bed so we didn't actually practice the poses :D BUT I think it's illustrated very lovely and has a wonderful theme to it that works even if you don't do the poses.

    What a fabulous book for young kids.A great introduction to yoga with poses for helping kids relax and stretch before bed time.What a smart and interesting concept for the author to come up with and the illustrations are beautiful and engaging.Definitely worth sharing with your children.

    A great book to help introduce yoga to children. Kids will love to try the yoga movements that are illustrated on each page. This book would be great for daycare teachers who are looking for activities to do with the children.

    Edit: upgraded to five stars as the Lo loves this book. We do the asanas in this book ( along with the reading) atleast three times everyday.. I am planning to get the goodmorning yoga book so that she doesnt make me read ( and do) the night-time yoga asanas during the day!

    Simple and sweet storybook introduction to yoga for wee ones. Would like to try it out with a child! Also includes text for a guided relaxation at the end.

    Read through this quickly at the bookstore awhile ago. I think it would be great for helping kids to power down at night. Will look into buying when I have older kids.

    A sweet bedtime story that is so much more than an ordinary bedtime story, Good Night Yoga, by Mariam Gates, and illustrated by Sarah Jane Hinder, will help not only children prepare for bedtime, but provides a calming, relaxing time for parents, too. I wish I had had this book when my daughter was little.The book provides short sentences suitable for children that encourage them to do relaxing stretches and breathing (along with mom or dad). At the end is a brief relaxation technique to read to your child that helps them to regulate their breathing, and begin to feel sleepy. I believe I'll try it myself!Hinder's illustrations are some of the most beautiful I have seen in a while. Children will love them. You will, too. Look for me online as The Grumpy Book Reviewer.

    Excellent book for the children who have difficulties settling down for bedtime. Unwinding an hour or half hour without electronics or t.v. is a good thing, but how about some gentle yoga moves. Reading together and exercising together to slow down the body and mind. Having good night time rituals for the young is a good habit to establish. I think... I need this title for my bookshelves.

    SUMMARY: This book takes a child through soothing yoga poses that relate to things in nature such as arms up and down like rays of sunshine and bending to the side like a crescent moon. At the same time, a story is happening showing what things in nature are doing: "The stars sparkle brightly as the moon rises high."ILLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are full of deep and rich colors. The children are adorable and the scenes are relaxing. A+ for multicultural representation.NOTE: The following review is based on this book only. I do not agree with the philosophies of the publisher Sounds True who supports personal transformation and spiritual awakening. I do however, believe yoga is a wonderful and relaxing exercise even for very young children.THE GOOD: This book takes a child through very very simple poses that wind the child down from standing poses until the final child's pose on the floor. It is a beautiful and relaxing flow to help children relax. Reading the story alongside will add a relaxing and calm atmosphere. The very end has the child lying in bed imagining floating on a cloud. I felt very sleepy after just reading the book, so I know this will be a wonderful bedtime routine!THE NOT AS GOOD: It is a bit confusing because there are two parts to the book--the yoga instructions and the short story about nature. It would be best to read this through by yourself first and decide how to best use this with your child. You could just read the yoga pose instructions or read both parts.AGE RECOMMENDATIONS: Ages 3-7 (Ages 8 and up can most likely do this independently without the story or flowery instructions. You could use this as a guide to teach them the poses though since all ages would benefit from the calming exercises before bed)

    This is an excellent children's book. We are big yoga fans in my house so having a book that encourages my children to stretch out in relaxing poses before bed is a wonderful resource. The illustrations are beautiful, the story is sweet and simple.

    You don't have to be a yogi to love this book. This pose-by-pose bedtime story takes children through gentle yoga poses and focuses their breathing while telling the story about the world getting ready for bed. Complete with beautiful illustrations, this book can be enjoyed by the whole family. Following the story, there is a complete list of the yoga poses in sequence and a "cloud journey visualization" to help children relax and wind down before bedtime. Yoga is a great way to relax, distress, and spend some time together as a family. My family loved this book, I hope yours does too!     Beautiful, boldly colored illustrations accompany gentle text with a series of night-time sequence yoga poses any child or adult can dig. Whether you're fan of yoga or simply slowing down your routine before going to bed, this is a marvelous story for sharing with children one-on-one or in a larger group setting. A diverse group of children demonstrate basic yoga poses, while incorporating the natural world smoothly into the story and art. While you can read the story straight through, the author provides simple rhymes on each pose, set apart by type and font size, above each pose so this can be used as a practical application as well. The end of the book provides the entire night-time yoga sequence, showing the flow and beauty of movement, and includes and lovely meditation. Highly recommended.
