Bound by Sunlight Reviews
Have you had the pleasure of reading Bound by Sunlight by K.B. Alan? No? Oh, you poor thing…You must have been locked up in a dungeon by an evil mage! Allow me to introduce Kyriana Price and Connul Graysn – a sweet as peaches temp worker forced on a mission of sneaky seduction and theft – and a gentlemanly, yet powerful and sexy Dom mage that possesses a potent object of desire (out of the gutter ladies, I’m not talking about THAT object of desire … at least not yet). Landon Guard is such a prig that he doesn’t deserve a heavy-worded introduction, but he is the antithesis and therefore has to be mentioned. Kyr’s mind has been the perfect nesting place Landon’s spell for the past year. Against her will, the time has come for her to infiltrate Connul’s private study to steal an object Landon strongly desires. Desperate to be free of Landon, she does the only thing she can think of to free herself from his grips – She sits and waits for Connul to discover that she has broken in. I found this to be quite amusing considering most people break in to a place with hopes of never getting caught! Connul’s reaction to her intrusion isn’t what I expected either. Over several days, Kyr and Connul get to know each other quite intimately. All the while, Connul shows his expertise in domination, skillfully building the bond of trust that is crucial to freeing Kyr from the casted spell. However, freeing Kyr of the spell is not the end of their problems, they must now deal with a pissed off mage that didn’t get what he wanted. But hey—really—what’s a loathsome, oily, but persistent mage able to do when up against the magical crew consisting of Connul’s brother, Dain; his sister, Sash; and Keller, a member of The Society? Come on, you don’t really want me to tell you that now, do you? Of course not, because I just know you want to skedaddle your sexy little fingers across your keys on the way to the nearest book store website to grab yourself a copy of this titillating book peppered with bondage, hot wax and cat-o-nines … oh my! Can I get a HELL-YEAH? Reviewed by LolaLovesBooks for daydrmzzz(blogspot).com
In some ways I think I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I liked the fact that magic was out in the open and that Alan went into a little of the murky history thereof. I liked that Kyriana, despite her initial fear and anxiety, showed quite a bit of backbone when it came to Connul, especially at the end when he was being a bigger ass then ever before. I liked that they genuinely had a connection, beyond the physical and their different approaches to strengthening that connection.I was less pleased with how...one-dimensional the Evil Bastard (villain) was. At the end I was still left rather confused as to why he would have assumed Kyr could do what he wanted her to do. Or why he was let loose for as long as he was--at one point I'm pretty sure another person mentions some pretty hefty evidence earmarking Evil Bastard for some sort of inquiry, but yet they are all surprised by the fact he's doing bad things. Then also a large portion of the story seemed to center around the angst between Connul and Kyr in the middle of their preparing for the confrontation. Not just 'does he like me?' sort of angst, but potentially dangerous thinking impaired angst. Kyr's recklessness kind of had me slapping my forehead at one point.Still the final battle was pretty cool and ignoring the added angst, I loved that Kyr was like 'Aw hell no you didn't!' when Connul tried to pull the 'I know what's best for you' BS. Her idea to get him back is priceless and almost worth all the connivance it took to get them there.
this story reminded me of X-Men, with sex. the start was pretty interesting because you're thrown into the middle of the story. the heroine has a spell put on her that keeps her from revealing certain truths about her captor, so as a reader you're finding out what's going on along with the hero. it was a little confusing at first, but i liked it because it was different from other romance i've read.the sexy times were hot and the end was very descriptive. i could see the final scenes really playing out in my mind.Kyriana was bad ass and stuck up for herself with the hero Connul at all the right moments. good stuff.(sorry this review sucks. i have a headache)
This was a great book. I really enjoyed how our heroine got out of her predicament and got her happily ever after. I can't say too much or it will spoil the story but if you like mages and kinky sex you will probably enjoy this book.
It's a good story. Nothing precisely wrong with it though I didn't really feel anything for the characters. That's why 3/5. Just didn't care either way for them. Otherwise the story and writing r good.
