Royals: Youth. Wealth. Drugs. Sex/Scandal. Reviews
I loved this book but I HATE cliffhangers!! The Royals was such a fun book. It had just enough drama to keep me on my toes. I loved the friendship that Peta, Claire and Glo had. I felt like I was in high school all over again. I can wait for next book!! Thank you for letting me read for an honest review!!
I received a free e-copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.4.5 starsI want to start off by saying that this book was amazing! I loved every second of it and I just got sucked into the whole story. It was cleverly written and was very different than any other high school book. This book had it all… drama, romance, heartbreak, thrill and more….so much more! This is a serious must read.I did not know what to expect with this book so I started reading without having any expectations. Basically, this book is set in Australia, with the main character being Peta Fitzgerald. She is a senior and is enjoying life with her boyfriend and best friends. That is, until she has the hots for the art teacher everyone is in love with. Not only is she falling for someone who is off limits, but everything around her is changing. Peta has no idea what to do…she’s stuck. One thing I really loved about this book is that it was very original and was a break from PA Romance, Fantasy Sci-Fi etc. It was refreshing and I loved it! I also loved the fact, and applaud the author for showing us readers the other side of high school. We always see the typical high school drama of having a cheating boyfriend or trying to nail a boyfriend or trying to fit in or whatever. This book showed the dark side of high school. Drugs. We all hear about high school students dealing drugs in school, but I have never read about it in a book. This book had everything! I loved it! It gave us a new side of high school to look at.There were many parts in the book where I just could not put the book down. There was a point where I was about halfway through the book and I did not put my Kindle down until I read the ending…which was epic. It was a roller coaster of emotions! So much happened in the book that I just loved it! It was never boring. However, I felt that the story was a little dull in the beginningish, but that is all a part of creating a story, the buildup can be a little tricky. The story the author wrote was believable, it was realistic. I loved it!The characters in this book are amazing. They were beautifully written and I think my fave is Peta. She is just all sorts of greats. I just loved her and her whole character in the book. I loved her friends too. They were the best! They reminded me of my close friends too. Anyhow, all of the characters had their backgrounds and it really played out well how each person’s personality showed in the end. There was a HUGE turning point in the book where I just could not put it down. I neglected my Uni assignments to finish this book. THAT is how great it was. There were just so many twists and turns that I could not even keep up! And the story just took off! I was so amazing I cannot even put together words to describe hoe amazing it was! Tears were involved, and so so so many twists! ESPECIALLY in the end. WOAH! I did not see any of that coming. Reid just nailed everything that concerns teenagers. I just loved the story and the effort Reid put into making an amazing story. I really have not seen this at all…maybe I just don’t come across books like this. Also… this book is New Adult/ Adult and is not suitable for all ages because like the title says…there is sex, drugs and violence and language. If you like that stuff then you do you…but this was my first NA/A book and it was nice…but I like to stick to the YA books. All in all, I loved this book but the ending. OMG the ending! asojdjhsdgbksdgbqjrgv. I cannot. Its kind of a cliffhanger…it just hits you right in the feels. Seriously. This book is loaded with everything that a reader wants in a book. I promise you will like it! Now go get this book and read it and feel how I felt when reading this book. And I hope you cry.. That was mean. Im sorry. But I hope it makes you feel a certain way. I hope you loved this review and I really hope you read it. Thank you!Characters: 9/10Plot/Story line: 9/10Pace: 9/10Romance: 9/10Writing style: 9/10Entertainment value: 9/10Overall Score: 54/60 (90%)
Royals: YOUTH. WEALTH. DRUGS. SEX/SCANDAL by R.L. REID5 starReviewed by AliciaThis book is about teenagers going through their senior year of high school. Normal teenage life turns upside down when drugs, alcohol, love and jealousy get involved. Follow Pets and her friends through this journey of ups and downs. I can't wait to see what happens next! I received this book as in exchange for an honest review and couldn't be more pleased.Late Night Books Reviewer Alicia
Royals shows a side of senior year in high school that I never experienced. Sometimes it was hard to fathom that these were only high school students, but the book shows a hard, but honest, look at social issues, dating, sex and drugs. Peta's senior year is a roller coaster of love and loss. The story took a dark turn that I didn't really expect and ended with a big cliffhanger, but I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see where it goes in the next installment.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
