This series is so much fun, it takes me away to exotic places that I have not visited. This time, the girls are in Rio de Janeiro, dancing at the Copacabana Hotel. The story is told by Pat, and all I can say is, poor Pat. Full of twists and turns, and lots of suspenseful moments, this book kept me reading until I finished it! I love the descriptions of Rio, they made me think I was there. The great and beautiful areas, and the not so good ones. Add in some cats, some wonderful tours, excellent food, and a little deceit, and you have a great mystery! Don't miss this one, it is the perfect summer read.

Bossa Novas, Bikinis and Bad Ends by Mary McHugh is the 4th book in the Happy Hoofers Mystery series. There are five Happy Hoofers: Pat, Tina, Mary Louise, Janice, and Gina, who are all in their 50's. Each book is told through the eyes of a different hoofer, and this book is told by Pat, as they travel to Rio de Janeiro to perform at the Copacabana Palace. When the first dead body is found, the mystery begins. I really enjoy this series, but was disappointed with the last book. This is the best book in the series so far. I love how the author describes the destination, so you feel like you are there also. This book kept me reading page after page until I was done. I strongly recommended this book for cozy mystery book lovers like myself. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Happy Hoofers fly into Rio De Janeiro for a week of dancing and a fun vacation at a luxury hotel. The descriptions of the area are superb and you feel that you are in Brazil with them. The girls are having fun both sightseeing and dancing until the death of their tour guide. The hotel has a resident pregnant cat that remains Pat of her cat. Pat falls in love with one the kittens. The book will take on a wild ride through the different areas of the country. This is the best book of the series and can be read as a stand alone.Disclosure: I received a free copy from Kensington Books through NetGalley for an honest review. I would like to thank them for this opportunity to read and review the book. The opinions are my own.

These books just keep getting worse and worse. Thankfully this one was devoid of the other books past indiscretions like having a friend meet someone and fall in love on the trip and all the political talk. I do love how the author manages to make me feel like I'm always in the places described and eating the food they are. Too bad that kind of detail doesn't go into the mystery which any 3rd grader could solve.

I don't know why so many of the senior sleuth series have 5 main characters. It's too much and none of the characters get developed like they need to in order to make the series really engaging. Then there's all the minutiae of each of the multitude of characters and it bogs down the story. I enjoy this series just barely enough to keep reading.

"Bossa Novas, Bikinis, and Bad Ends" is told from Pat Keeler's. The beautiful sights of Rio de Janeiro are brought to life for the reader through the words of Mary McHugh. Pat and the other Hoofers are well developed and seem to have grown over the course of the series. Each of them brings something to the table when it comes to their talents which are welcomed by the other ladies. Being older they have learned to value friendship and life. They make a reader stop and think that perhaps there is something they want to try while they still can and also remind reader we all have something of value to share with others.Although all the ladies are seniors, that does not stop them from fulfilling their dreams of travel and enjoying life. Even murder doesn't slow them down. I come away feeling good about myself and the world in general after reading one of Mary McHugh's books. Pick one up for yourself as spend a few hours with the Happy Hoofers. Just be prepared for the dead bodies that seem to find them around the world. Bossa Novas, Bikinis, and Bad Ends is the fourth book in Mary McHugh's The Happy Hoofers mysteries. A group of five fifty something best friends, Gini, Tina, Pat, Janice, and Mary Louise have signed on to dance at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. While being terribly excited to be in this South American playground, they have also been warned to hang on to their purses and be careful of crime. Each of the four installments of the Happy Hoofers series has been told from the viewpoint of one of the dancers. This story is told by Pat Keeler, family therapist in her life away from the dance floor. On their first day at the Copacabana, hotel employee Maria Oliveira, who has been tasked with showing the ladies around town, takes them to a very unusual locale in the basement of an old worn house. There are white robed women dancing and swaying to hypnotic drumbeats, while a shaven headed woman sits in a trance, beckoning their guide when she comes round. She warns Maria of imminent danger--someone wants Maria dead! And within hours, dead she is!Over the next few days another hotel employee, Natalia, takes over the role of guide, taking the Hoofers to such locations a Corcovado and Sugar Loaf Mountains. However, during this period of time, more suspicious deaths occur at the hotel, leaving the ladies to question and speculate. Perhaps Pat's speculations are stated too loudly, or overheard by the wrong people, which ultimately puts her in the crosshairs of killers herself.Another enjoyable romp with the Happy Hoofers, seeing beautiful landmarks through their eyes as well as the seedy side of a fascinating city. Although the plot is sometimes formulaic, it is also well woven with twists and turns that cause rapid page turning and a surprise when the clues finally all come together. This story is a recommended read for lovers of this genlre.

A highly unrealistic mystery novel. Going into this novel I was under the impression that this was a stand alone novel. It is not. I believe it is the 4th novel in the Happy Hoofers mystery series. The Happy Hoofers are made up of 5 50+ women who created their own dance group and now seem to travel the world and dance in hotels. Does this happen in real life? I would assume celebrity singers/dancers would get wined and dined by high end hotels, but a group of 50 year old women? In this novel, the group traveled to Rio de Janeiro. The hotel paid for everything, and even sent their own hotel tour guide to bring the women around the city during the day. The women then performed at the hotel at night. After their first day, their tour guide, Maria, is found dead. It seemed like everyone at the hotel was hooking up with each other, so was it a love affair gone wrong?MINOR SPOILERS:I think what bothered me the most was how this would never, ever happen in real life. Here are some of the most annoying events:-3 people showing up dead in 1 hotel in a matter of 3 days. Is there no security?- Does no one other than the accountant check the hotel's financials?- How in the world does someone get kidnapped 4 times in 1 day?? Again security? How about a buddy system??I also found the friendships and relationships in this novel unbelievable. If you are a fan of the series then check out this novel. I would also recommend this novel for those who like Rio de Janeiro. There was a lot of information about the sites and food in the city. Thank you to Netgallery for an ARC!

This is a fun cozy mystery series. The Happy Hoofers are a group of ladies who take their love of dancing to a new level. They are invited to dance at different places and are sure to run into trouble wherever they go.In this book, Bossa Novas, Bikinis, and Bad Ends, the Happy Hoofers are invited to dance at the Copacabana Palace, in Rio de Janeiro. What starts off as an exciting dance trip soon turns to terror for one hoofer. Employees of the hotel are turning up dead, maybe one is a fluke, but 3 is just too much! This story is told from Pat's experience and believe me, I was riveted to my seat the whole time! From beautiful tourist landmarks, to flea markets, these ladies are always happy to do something new and exciting. When a scary turn of events leaves one hoofer running for safety, the hoofers try to stay together, believing their travel guide will keep them safe. Will the hoofers travel home with one less dancer? This series is wildly entertaining! I love the way the author includes information about the places they visit. For me, this book hits home as my grandparents were from Portugal. Reading about the food and language I grew up with was really fun.I will be recommending this book to all my cozy mystery friends.I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Princess Fuzzypants here:I like the premise of some older ladies kicking up their heels as dancers because my Momma is an old girl too. The fact that they dance in some pretty exotic locations and get to see interesting places is also a plus. In fact, the descriptions of some of the locations they see are some of the best parts of the books. This time they are dancing in Rio. They are in a super expensive hotel and get to see the highlights of the city. Pat, the narrator, also gets to see some of the worst of the city. Since I am an indoor cat, there is no chance I would ever go there. I'm going to make sure my parents don't either. It's too scary and wild. The mystery and the murders were almost incidental and seemed pretty obvious. There were a couple of twists and turns. Including some dynamite false resolutions that had me on the tips of my paws with suspense. I wish the rest of the book was as taut.It wasn't fantastic but it had its moments. I will give it four purrs and two paws up.

Bossa Novas, Bikinis, and Bad Ends is the fourth book in Mary McHugh’s A Happy Hoofers Mystery series. This is the first book I’ve read written by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. The storyline is well plotted and the characters well developed. The author provided sufficient character background that I didn’t feel lost jumping in on the fourth book. The characters are quirky and colorful. The food, music, and dance descriptions are so vivid I felt like I was there with them. The Happy Hoofers is a group of women who travel the world performing their dance routines. The group consists of Tina, Janice, Pat, Mary Louise, and Gini and they travel to Rio de Janeiro to perform at the Copacabana Palace. Before their first show a dead body is discovered, then more hotel employees turn up dead, and when Pat is kidnapped the others worry they might not ever see her again.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

ARC honest review for Kensington Books via NetGalley. This is the 4th book in the Happy Hoofers series, and the five 50'ish ladies have been invited to dance at the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. But all is not gay and happy on this beach paradise playground of Brazil. The staff at the Copacabana Palace hotel are dropping dead like flies...and not from the heat! And 'Happy Hoofer' Pat is feeling the heat more than the other ladies of the group. This is the first book that I have read in this series...and I loved the descriptions of the locations visited by the ladies, the food and Pat's travel tips.I'm glad that I have a couple of the earlier books on my Kindle, so that I can catch up with their previous adventures. If you like the review and would like to read reviews on other books I have made, visit my blog at www.finalchapterreadersgroup.wordpres... like, comment and follow.

Murder, Dancing, Food and Sights! The Hoofers are invited to Rio de Janeiro Brazil to dance at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. While at the hotel a couple of employees are murder. The Hoofers come up with theories of who they think did it as they discover information. Will they all come back home alive or will one of them experience the same fate as the employees form Copacabana? This is the 4th book in A Happy Hoofers Mystery Series. You can read it as a stand-alone you won’t get lost. Each book is told from the viewpoint of one of the dancers which I rather enjoy. In this book Pat Keeler, a family therapist, will narrate the story. The descriptions of the places, music and food are great and you also get recipes for some of the dishes. So if you are looking for an adventure and some new food ideas definitely check out this book. It is an entertaining read and you won’t want to put the book down. You know you want to figure out who did it so buy this book!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review of it.I have not read any of the books in this series. I had heard about them and wanted to read about The Happy Hoofers. For the most part, I really like the group. And I didn't need to read the other books before reading this one. It was interesting reading about Rio de Janeiro. The story was pretty good, although it got it a little wild and unbelievable. But it was interesting and I enjoyed it. Thanks, Mary McHugh, for the chance to read it. I think I will need to read more in the series.

I love traveling the world with these Happy Hoofers. The girls head to Brazil and before their first show there is a dead body. This is one of the most fun cozy series to read because the fab 5 are so diverse and easy to love. After a visit to a psychic, their tour guide, translator is found dead in her motel room, just like the psychic said. When one of their own is kidnapped the ladies worry this may be their last dance. Great visiting with the ladies and catching up on their families and adventures.

The Happy Hoofers are back, staying at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro and tapping their way into many more lives. Dancing really shouldn't really be dangerous, but when 3 people are murdered, everyone start to take notice. Who might be next? Join the "girls" on their next tour and visit beautiful Rio. Try to keep up with who was killed, when they were killed, why they were killed and lastly who did it.FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Some of this novel strains credulity, and I really don't want to be anywhere these women travel, but it's nice to read about a group of strong women in their 50s. I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series but that wasn't a problem as I was able to slip right into the book. You'll like this if you enjoy cozies (even if there are a lot of dead bodies) with a unique set of characters. Nicely written. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This is a fun read. A group of women in their 50's who met in a dancing class and then d.ecided to form a group to perform Latin dances. This book they travel to Rio and stay at the Copacabana to perform several nights. Of course one of them stumbles upon a murder and then can't resist to question why she was murdered. It's very perplexing for them all and one finds herself in danger. Read to find out what happens. Also the description of the food and the sights is amazing.
