    * This surprised me ! * Deep, graphic, rough, wild, sometimes frantic, with BDSM qualities, sizzling M/M sex. Amazing, emotional, mind blowing, passionate love and loyalty. Benjamin HOPES to be an MMA fighter, but does own a gym. Each guy has had a bad childhood, no stability, no caring, and they find each other after Jake and his friend are beaten in a gay-bashing. While his friend is on life-support, Jake seeks out Benjamin for self defense training. He knows Benjamin is his step-brother, but it doesn't matter, he needs him. Never again will he take a beating. Even after they start their relationship, Benjamin and Jake still want to be together, even knowing the family dynamic, after all it's heart - not blood."Love isn't always explainable. But when it's right, truly right, it needs no explanation. Only the heart speaks in a language love knows""He'd never met anyone more selfless in his life...who knew what to touch, what to taste, what to suck for how long and how much...a rarity between passionate lover and hardened disciplinarian..."Twists, turns, surprises, hate, love, need. Raw characters, fast paced tale, incredibly sexy. Surprising romantic ending I didn't expect. Could be considered a Christmas story.Highly recommend. ENJOY !!

The pro's, great cover! The Cons, The Blurb missed the mark. It tells a story, but not in that order. The story has potential, but not as it stands. I'm expecting a MMA trainer, I get a 24 year old boy who's rude. His gym is filthy, unorganized and it smells. Benjamin is supposed to be prior Military and he seriously trains his body. I couldn't understand how he could work or live in such filth. I get its fiction, but you need to have at least some truth in fiction. It needs some serious editing. There were several inconsistency and several areas where details were left out or it didn't make sense and was very confusing. It also had a juvenile middle school feel to it. I don't want to spoil the book for those who want to read it. By putting in examples. There are a lot of 5 stars reviews for this book, everyone has to call it like they see it. I had high hopes for this one. Good try, but It's gonna need some serious polish to make this shine.

Fabulous ReadFrom the minute I started this book, I couldn't put it down. This one book consumed me with so many intense feelings that I gave myself a massive headache just thinking about them. From the first chapter, the horror and consequence of what happened to Jake and his friend Alberto was unbearable. I still can't comprehend the hatred, cowardness, and complete lack of any moral compass that encouraged this attack. In reality, I'm not sure why no one was arrested ~ being the son of the local sheriff of this back-ass town shouldn't give anyone a free ticket from jail time. Something of this nature and magnitude would have made national news, thus demanding retribution. After the vicious attack, Jake's life continues on its miserable path until he winds up at the door of an old, dilapidated boxing gym. Following along the lines of what some victims of hate crimes, rape or domestic abuse may choose, Jake is looking for someone to teach him to fight and become strong enough to defend himself. He meets Benjamin, the very ornery, very hot, gym owner, who VERY reluctantly allows Jake to trade training time for cleaning and organizing his gym. Little by little, these two lost souls find themselves bartering more than janitorial duties; their lust for each other quite apparent. Benjamin, being the stronger, jaded of the two, is the perfect Dominant for Jake, his submissive. The sex? Off. The. Charts. (Just a note: wait until you find out who Benjamin really is)As the two lovers continue with their intense lust-encompassing relationship, their feelings turn into love; not surprising at all as they become each other's everything. Family, townsfolk, ex's and bullies continue to make their lives a challenging mess every single day. "Love doesn’t always make sense, he’d learned that. Love isn’t always explainable. But when it’s right, truly right it needs no explanation. Only the heart speaks in a language love knows."Agreed ... 100% ... If that's truly the case, why did they keep walking out on each other when things became too much to handle? This story had some interesting twists and turns, some shocking revelations and a handful of some kick-ass Karma, along with plenty of annoying, conniving non-supporting characters. There is a message screaming loud and clear from the pages of this book; for that I am ecstatic. This story was a bit tough to swallow ~ Jake and Benjamin had to go through hell to get to heaven and that's exactly what makes this book a must read.

I really love my MM books so I was curious to read this one. first and foremost, there needs to be some editing done ( in my opinion) . there were some parts I had to re-read and some of the dialogue was a little extra..especially from Benjamin. I dont get how there was such insta lust/love between the two when Benjamin was an ass most of the time to Jake. when they are together, they are hot..I won't take away from that. So many things happened that had me back and forth wondering what was going to happen next. there are so many questions I need answered (the father, the ex, alberto, the sister)...this had the potential to be a 5 star read, but for me it wasn't. it was just ok.

The worst series I have ever had the displeasure of reading.Makes 'You Got Me' obsolete. You Got Me has Benjamin & his lover Cole as the pivotal characters."I Got You": Book one which is the sequel to "You Got Me": Book 2 which is the Prequel has no sense of time between the novels, character development:zero, plot cohesiveness is non-existent. Maybe this is why the author lost the plot.Read apart readers can be fooled into thinking that they are reading completely separate books yet the characters are exactly the same?I Got You the sequel has Benjamin once again but Jake as his lover this time around.Cole is non-existent in his thoughts. How is that possible?Author?Cole was his love interest the entire book. Not his best friend?:"Doesn't matter. Once a cheater, always a cheater." Benjamin crossed his arms and looked away for a moment, staring out the window as if he were watching a memory."My ex-girlfriend, she ... and my best friend ... they hooked up.""Wait, what?" "He did it to get back at me, cause I wouldn't admit how I felt about him.  He was heart-broken. He always was a vindictive guy."Who is this vindictive guy he is talking about? Cole? His love interest in the entire book who was never portrayed as a villain? What feelings he did not return? Is this author drifting in the twilight zone?Author?????“I fucking love you, Cole,” Benjamin said in his ear. “And I love you,” Cole said“Anything you need, you just ... know that I got you,” said Cole. A tear rolled down Cole’s cheek and trailed down Benjamin’s shoulder and back. “And you got me.” Kissing the second tear away, Benjamin looked him in the eyes. You Got Me excerpt:Why do people keep insane secrets that hurt their love ones?Ex- insane girlfriend to Cole swearing him not to tell his boyfriend that she lied about the baby to trap himThe tears that had welled in Christina’s eyes spilled over the edge. “I lost it.”Christina sniffled against him. “You can’t tell Benjamin,” she said, pleading. “You have to swear.”You Got Me Book 2 which is the Prequel to this book.Is this the cheating that Benjamin is referencing & the author cannot keep straight?Insane ex-girlfriend raping her ex boyfriend's boyfriend in prequel to "I GOT YOU" by drugging him to get pregnant again to once again trap her ex boyfriend.“This will be fine.” Christina handed him a bottle of vodka and a small pill. The vodka bottle didn’t bother him and he took a deep swig. The small blue pill in his hand felt wrong. His voice slurred. “It’s blue, why is the pill blue? Why does it say V on it?” Cole asked her. He stared at the pill. The pill looked familiar, but he couldn’t place where he had seen it before. And she reveals a secret before raping himThat’s when he swore he heard her whisper in his hear … “My secret is … I killed your brother, Cole.”Now this book has zero mention of the epic love that Benjamin felt for Cole? It's like the author totally obliterated the prequel that leads up to this book.Is Benjamin the same character from the previous book?Ex soldier?Amputee?Has crazy ex girlfriend Christina? They all in this book except for Cole???? Where is Cole???At the end of You Got Me the prequel the author has both men Benjamin & Cole promising each other to be together forever yet in this book it's as if one of them never existed & he is marrying another man?Without explanation? And Benjamin's son Cody who he believes is his son is a result of his ex girl friend raping his boyfriend from the previous book who the author has now wiped out of existence. No one remembers him not even Benjamin.Am I the only one missing the link?

5+ Love is just love stars!Benjamin and Jake's story was engaging. You can’t help but to fall for Jake right from the first page. He captured me and I was #TeamJake from the beginning all the way through to the end. He had my heart. I wasn’t quite sure about Benjamin, but as he opened up and showed his true self, he melted into my heart as well. By the end, I had respect for Benjamin because he feels love is love no matter with whom and his biggest character traits are honesty and trust. These two men who have negative pasts, become each other’s therapists without actually trying. They heal each other naturally and show what true love is all about. The storyline as a whole was smooth and kept my attention. Of course, what’s a good story without twists? Well you need to read this story because there were quite a few towards the end, that makes you do a double-take. Those twists were perfect in this story. Jake also deserved a standing ovation with his part in the end-all of smack-downs….but was it verbal or physical? This is a must read story of a beautiful love that will forever be love.

This is so ridiculous. I think the author tried to put as many popular romance themes in one book as they could. It was an epic fail. An ex-military, future MMA trainer, in the closet, BDSM top falls for his also in the closet step brother. Throw in a vampire and a motorcycle and you'd hit the jackpot. This was so awful, I DNF'd it.

This was an ok read for me I was surprised about the step-brother romance. Jake was beat up and left for dead "gay bashing". Jake lives in a small town where being gay is not a good thing. Jake wants to learn how to defend himself so at his sister’s suggestion he tries self-defense courses. Aspiring MMA trainer Benjamin is on his last leg, literally. As a wounded warrior, he's scarred from a broken heart that has nearly broken his spirit. So when Jake approaches him for lessons and tells him his story, it touches his heart. The more time Jake and Benjamin spend together, the more they realize they’re becoming best friends and can't live without each other they realize they’re falling in love. But Jake has a secret one that could change everything they’re step-brothers. I liked Jakes friend Alberto they always had each others back. I think that the problem for me with this book was that the character's didn't speak too me I also felt that at times the book didn't flow well. This was my first time reading both of these author's and this was the first book in a new series too me. This book did have a few errors in it. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

http://gaymediareviews.weebly.com/blo...Actual 4.5 Rating!!! Jake a college student has been gay bashed and left for dead and now he must learn to fight back. He starts a self-defense class but is taught more than just how to protect his body as someone is after his heart also. MMA trainer Benjamin's a wounded warrior, he's trying to heal from a broken heart. Jake asked for lessons and when Benjamin learns why he needs these lessons it touches his heart in a big way. Now that the men spend time together they have completely falling in love but Jake has a secret that could rip them apart. This story so ripped at my heart in a huge way. The intense drama started right in the first chapter when Jake and his friend Alberto were attacked. The pure hatred that these boys face was completely so heartbreaking. When Jake makes a deal with Benjamin the hot gym owner to teach him to fight and Jake in return will clean the rundown gym. Before they know it these two men are good friends and before too long they start falling in love. The sex scenes omg are so hot it will set your Kindle on fire. Now for Jake's secret, wait till you find out who Benjamin really is to Jake. Soon these beautiful guys learn that love doesn't come so easily as they are faced with family, town people and gay bashing bullies that will test their love and survival skills. This book had many heart pounding twists that will keep you riveted to the end. My only issue is that I wish the bad guys got what was coming to them in a more harsh way. This is my first novel with this author and I really enjoyed it. His characters were so beautifully developed and they spoke to my heart and soul in such a rich way. I have such a deep connection to Jake and Benjamin being the dominant tough guy, he was a great partner for Jake. I was thrilled when Alberto woke up from his coma and the stepbrother twist was a great shock. I enjoyed the brilliant detailed writing by Jamie Lake and I will most definitely will be checking out his other novels and I suggest you do the same. I highly recommend this novel, I GOT YOU by Jamie Lake to anyone looking for a great intense love story with some shocking to turns! There was no gentle introduction or slow build-up to the story. It jumped right into the action leaving me with my heart in my throat through the first nasty violent scenes. Not too many books have managed to shock me into sticking with the story immediately like I Got You did with that opening. And I really liked the rest of the story as well. Once I got past my initial dislike of Benjamin. He was quite an asshole at first running hot and cold like he had some sort of internal switch going back and forth at random.Luckily the switch finally decided to stay in the right place and he and Jake were good together. There was a proper ending (view spoiler)[anyone who knows me knows that proper in my book equals HEA :-)(hide spoiler)] even if the somewhat surprising extra twist was close to being too much.My only regret is that - once again - the bad guys got off waaay to easy. I hate that. I know, violence is not the answer, turn the other cheek blah blah. I wish at least in my books justice would be served. And yes, for me that sometimes requires more than just a bloody nose. And, finally, it has to be said: The editing. Or should I say lack thereof. Sigh! Such a shame to do this to a good story. Not to mention annoying.

I loved Jake and Benjamin. I didn't feel there was anything taboo about their love because they weren't related and hadn't been raised together. For lovers of angst, there's plenty in this book. Many times I cried. But I really loved how Benjamin was always there looking out for Jake. I also loved how he was so open about expressing his love for Jake once he finally accepted it himself. I cheered in the scene towards the end of the book between Jake and Steve, they man who gay bashed him. Well done! And I simply melted with the ending. So sweet. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a mini sequel featuring Alberto. Hint, hint, Jamie Lake and Jeff Rivera!Trigger warning. The book started with a graphic gay bashing. I don't want anyone to go into reading it without knowing that.

Oh wow, what to say.... Thirdly there were a few shock of surprises in their that made my jaw drop(lol). So good! Last but not least, it was Hot! ;) Lastly I really enjoy this book & I so loved the ending!

3.5 stars**This book needs a really good editing**I did enjoy the story. Ben and Jake both ran hot and cold so it was very frustrating to read at times. I am glad they got their HEA in the end. When they were hot they were hot!!! There were lots of twists and turns, which I truly enjoyed. That being said there were some unfinished questions not answered...leaving me wondering. I would have loved all the questions answered.

This was so SO bad, and I had completely forgotten about it. I bought it cheap quite a while back, started the book and then really, really regretted I didn't start it before the return-for-refund-option was no more.I think I made it maybe 5-10% and then I put it far, FAR away. The writing, the plot, the characters.... UGH!

When Jake was beaten to within an inch of his life and his friend Alberto was put in a coma, he thought it was the end......His family had no idea he was gay, this wasn't the way he wanted them finding out.Knowing who had hurt them didn't help, he would have to face his attacker every day.His sister talked him in to learning how to defend himself, his stepbrother owned a gym so it should have been easy, except they had never met. What he didn't expect though was that when he finally met Benjamin, there would be an attraction.Jake tried to fight it, knowing it was wrong but he wanted a connection so badly, he didn't tell Benjamin who he was.Would this be a mistake? As the 2 men get deeper in to a relationship, Ben always seems to have Jake's best interests at heart. When Alberto finally wakes from his coma, Jake's life takes on another interesting twist which he couldn't even begin to have imagined.I have so far steered clear of all the stepbrother books that are around, not really something that interested me.However, when i learned that Jamie Lake had written one i knew it was a must read.He always make you fall in love with the characters and their situation, no matter what it is!!!!This book was no exception.I was gripped from the first chapter and didn't put it down till i was done.4.5 out of 5 stars.Sue xRead more: http://www.books-laid-bare-boys.com/l...

I've been so busy and finally I am able to come and write some reviews. Rating: 2.5 At the beginning Jake and his best friend are attacked and left for dead. While Jake doesn't take as much damage, his bestie is left in a coma. Worst of all, Jake remembers who the ring leader is and fears for himself. (view spoiler)[ The ringleader is the son of the chief of police. (hide spoiler)]So, he decides to learn how to fight. He tracks down(in the same city) his stepbrother. His estranged stepbrother, Ben. Ben has no idea that Jake is his stepbrother. Ben has a harden exterior but means well. Their is an attraction between the two of them but Ben fights it...at first. Ben has has to deal with his ex, who I really didn't like. He also has a little son that he loves very much and wants the best for him.As the relationship grows, truths come out which rock it. I was more blown away by finding out about (view spoiler)[ his dad has been in a relationship with his best friend all this time but had the nerve to treat him like he did (hide spoiler)]. I've been told about the difference in someone 'telling you' the story and you 'experiencing' it for yourself. It's all about the details and wording. I felt I was told a lot in this story. Well it isn't a bad thing, I would have liked to 'see it' for myself.

I really enjoyed this book, in fact I struggled to put it down. I was captivated by Jake and his struggles and totally understood his motivation. I found Benjamin harder to interpret, but as a more reserved personality it is sometimes hard to grasp his point of view. This book is one of the few step-brother romances that feels real; the emotional connection between the two men wasn't cheapened by the "naughtiness" of being with family, possibly because Jake and Benjamin had never previously met, hadn't grown up together. There were a few unresolved issues I would have liked to understand, especially regarding Alberto's improving health and I got a little confused towards the end as it seemed so many things were occurring at once. That said, I would recommend this story for people who enjoy reading about those who don't accept being ill treated and bullied and who are determined to make a life for themselves.

I enjoyed reading Benjamin and Jake's story. Yes there are complications along the way, but what relationship doesn't have those. I loved the chemistry between the two leading men (be warned some scenes are very hot and steamy) and was extremely happy when Ben finally got his head out of his butt and stuck with Jake. There were times I wanted to smack both of them, wanting to know what the heck they were thinking, but it all worked out in the end. Even the a**hat got his in the end. (If you don't know who that is then you need to read this book. You'll love it.) The twist scene really threw me for a loop. I was not expected that, but it answered some questions though. But, I still have to wonder. What secrets did Ben have on his ex?Wonder if we might see more of Ben and Jake. I know I wouldn't complain if we did. :)

I Got You started out with a bang and ended perfectly. I haven't read anything by this author but I definitely will be checking his books out. This book is brutally honest and it was filled with angst, gay bashing but also hope and love. Loved it.Jake and his friend didn't have it easy being gay in their town but that didn't stop Jake from finding a way to move on from a beating he took from some losers. He went to train so he could fight back and meets his step brother Benjamin. There was chemistry right from the start though Ben was not aware who Jake was. The story between the two was honest and true and I just loved how Ben wanted to take care of Jake. The road to happiness was not an easy one but an enjoyable ride to the end. There was a big surprise towards the end that I did not see coming but loved it.Cannot wait to read more from this author.

Jake and Ben are so adorably sexy and hot. I experienced every emotion possible while reading this story. I was unable to put this book down. The story is very graphic but it's tastefully done. I love how Jake and Ben work together to overcome their obstacles. The character development is so noticeable and very satisfying. I don't want to give too much away but this is a sexy, heartwarming and at times a funny read.

3.5 stars! This story had the potential of being 5 stars but as much as there were some great storylines, they weren't always followed through. It left you with more questions than answers and also there were editing issues. I felt like this book was rushed. Having said all of this, I still really liked the book and found it intriguing to read about Jake and Ben, their background and their love story. This book desperately needs a sequel so that all the dots are connected.

Great story.  Loved Jake!  Ran hot and cold for Benjamin at the beginning but grew to love him!  I love stories that make me want more.  I didn't want to put this book down.  Everytime I got to the end of a chapter I wanted to keep reading.  And definitely did not want it to end.  This is the first book I've read by this author and I won't be the last.
