Yayyyy for the return of the Kents :). Ok so the plot is not so original but I loved Violet and Richards chemistry. The way they treat other is hilarious but the sizzling chemistry could literally burn the pages if I was reading a paperback. There is not much to say about this book except to read and enjoy it. It was a decent challenge to guess the identity of the killer, so it was good mystery too.I can't wait for the next Kent book :)

The Viscount Always Knocks Twice bk 4 was a very well developed story and I enjoyed it a lot. If you like suspense and murder mysteries to solve in your History Romance story this is for you. Violet Kent and Viscount Carlisle confirmed enemies, stumble upon a dead body in the early morning hours in a library; while they are attending a House Party. These two don't get along but as they set out to prove Carlisle's brother Wickham Murray didn't murder the women they grow Passionately in love. There are twist and turns in the story. It was very well done and I like the H/H a lot. This was an excellent pairing. Oh boy!! They had some sensual and erotic loving making sense in the book. So If you like some spice in your stories this will fill the bill. I Highly Recommend The entire Hearts of Enquiry series by Grace Callaway!!

This was not as good as the other books in my opinion. I think it is because I found Violet really annoying. She has, what appears to be, ADHD and cannot stay still, nor focus. I found some of the things she does to just be immature. Because of that, I had a hard time imagining that a mature man would be attracted to this young woman. Violet and Richard (Carlisle) are at a house party and when there is a death, they end up in the thick of the investigation. Violet's brother is actually a private investigator and he is also at the party. Some of the previous books' characters are part of this book, so you might want to read those first, but it is not necessary.I will read the next in the series, because I do like the writing and did enjoy the previous books.

3.5 starsAs always, Callaway delivers such steamyyy scenes. *fans self* But I loved the couple in this one! Violet's a total tomboy and is usually labeled "hoyden," while Carlisle is all propriety and sticks to the rules. Egads, I love the opposites attract trope. The murder mystery was a nice addition, if a bit dull sometimes (hello yes it's me I just want to get to the snogging bits :P).

This was so much fun!!!I absolutely love love/hate relationships. There was so much tension and chemistry between Violet and Richard especially during their early interludes, yet they were very much a fun couple. They were always bickering and with each interaction, the tension and heat rose higher and higher eventually leading to the inevitable. At first glance, anyone can see that Richard and Violet are complete opposites: she's a lively and active "hoyden" and he's a traditional and stiff man. But they ended up complementing each other in other ways. They shared similar interests; Violet was his perfect counterpart, bringing fun and laughter to Richard's life; Richard was her perfect counterpart, being steadfast and mature. Their relationship was actually very Pride and Prejudice-like. I had originally thought I would find Violet annoying, but I actually ended up loving her. She kind of reminded me of how I used to be when I was younger, always full of energy and unable to sit still.Moving onto the plot...while the mystery is quite mundane, I absolutely enjoyed it:- House party ✓- Murdered guest ✓- Dark secret passageways ✓- Hero and heroine in close proximity ✓- Sizzling chemistry ✓Essentially, the author used a lot of my favourite tropes in this book, part of the reason why I enjoyed reading it so much. The whole murder-at-a-house-party mystery made things so much fun for me. It felt like I was reading a romance novel and a cozy mystery novel at the same time. I had a hard time liking Wick to be quite honest. (view spoiler)[ I wanted to know exactly how he will be working his debt off and how Gabby had managed to convince Garrity to allow Wick this opportunity. I hope the author will be addressing these loose ends in the future books. I always assumed that Gabby would end up with Harry, but this might not be the case anymore....There's obviously more to this situation than we know of.(hide spoiler)] I also absolutely loved reading the few short chapters on Marianne and Ambrose, whose book remains my favourite Grace Callaway book.I'm not overly fond of the pattern that the author uses often (view spoiler)[ for books with virgin heroines: There's a lot of foreplay and the actual love scene only happens in the last chapter, which is kind of frustrating to be honest. The only exception so far is Charity's book. I don't like it when it is rushed in the last chapter.(hide spoiler)] Either way, this minor complaint never detracted from my enjoyment.I am looking forward for the youngest Kent, Polly, to find her HEA.

Violet and Richard have been added to my favorite characters list. He felt very Darcy-ish to me and that is definitely a good thing. I loved their banter and the use of period expressions. As always with GC, the chemistry and heat was there in spades as well. The story was wonderfully rounded out by all the characters from the series and a bit of intrigue. I look forward to more from this series and hope that, in addition to the rest of the Kents, there are stories for Miss Billings and Garrity as well as maybe Wick

The Viscount Always Knocks Twice is the 4th book in the 'Heart of Enquiry' series by Grace Callaway. Although it's part of a series it can easily be read and enjoyed without having read the other books first. This story is about Violet Kent. She is not your average lady in society. She loves adventure, and she doesn't like to do what is expected of her. She has many friends, some of them male. The latter includes Wicks, whose brother Richard thinks she is a flirt and a hoyden out to snare his brother. He says as much within the earshot of a gossip at a party, and soon everybody is tittering about his low opinion of her.Richard is a straight laced man. A man who has had to give up a lot to try to keep the family estate as intact as possible. In the past he has been humiliated by women he had thought himself in love with enough to offer them marriage. It's the bad experiences with them that has hardened him against women and makes him think they are all flirts.Wicks is a man in trouble, he owes a LOT of money to a disreputable money lender. Richard hasn't the funds to bale his brother out, but he helps out by making arrangements for a new money man to allow his daughter to marry Wicks. Her dowry would make sure that the money lender could be paid off. Wicks doesn't want to be forced into marriage and really dislikes that his brother is forcing the issue. He even makes up lies about him to Violet saying that his brother only wants him to marry to be able to pay off debts that Richard has incurred! Violet already thinks little of the man because of what he said about her, but to think he is making his brother wed to get HIM out of financial straits, it just makes her dislike him more.Violet and her family, and Richard and Wicks are invited to a house party, put on by the father of the woman Wicks is supposed to marry. Richard doesn't like house parties but he attends to make sure that Wicks does his duty and proposes. Violet isn't pleased to see him there, but during the duration of their stay her feelings begin to change. She realises that she is at least physically attracted to him when the party goers play a game of Hide and Seek. She and Richard end up sharing a very dark, enclosed private space to hide. They share a little more than that while they are hiding, and there begins the start of a better relationship between them.Another thing that helps their bonding is their care for Wicks. A murder takes place at the house party and they find the body. The woman is holding a ring of Wicks in her hand. Knowing that his brother could never murder anybody, both Richard and Violet decide to keep the ring a secret. They also decided to try to find the killer themselves. When they had proof that it wasn't Wicks, then they would mention the ring. What follows is the investigation of the crime, and some very hot, passionate moments between Violet and Richard. Neither can believe they are so attracted to each other after their bad start, but attracted they are, and it's lovely to see their feelings develop. It all coincides with the mystery of the murder making you just need to read the book as quickly as possible to see what happens next.I was embroiled in the story from beginning to end, the mystery of it was captivating, and I had no idea who the murderer was. It's great when you can't guess early on in a story who the criminal is, or their motives. We know of course that it can't have been Wick, but we aren't given any inkling of who is to blame. Then of course there is the romance between Richard and Violet, their passion for each other and their love making was very hot! Not crude, not sex for the sake of it, but meaningful, loving, passion where both were open to what the other wanted to do to them!! If you like your books, sexy, but with a fabulous whodunit story line following a crime, then this is the book for you. It's much more than just a romance and I 100% recommend it.I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I read the first half of this book until 1 o'clock this morning then woke up at 6:30am to finish it so this should tell you how much I loved this book and couldn't wait to finish it. I would have finished it in one sitting but sleep was winning me over. I am never disappointed by anything I have read by Grace Callaway. She is an amazing historical romance author and I can't wait this fall for her next book.Something you should know about the Kent family is that they marry for love, not for wealth or status. Violent Kent, even though surrounded by couples in love, never really understood what all the fuss was about. She is the tomboy in the family who prefer to wear trousers, ride horses astride, climb trees and play sports. She is constantly being criticized by the ton and she believes her family is ashamed of her. Richard Murray, Viscount Carlisle, is a "gentlemen's gentlemen" as Lord Blackwood has referred to him. He has plenty of pride, honor and is a bit of a stick-in-the-mud, almost a complete opposite to the wild free spirit that is Violet Kent. Carlisle needs his brother, Wickham, to marry an heiress to get rid of a large amount of debt. Carlisle doesn't approve of his brother's friendship with Violet (they really are just friends) as Carlisle sees Violet as another woman who will flirt without thinking of the consequences. Both blinded by their prejudices, they butt heads quite often. They misjudge each other but once they come to terms and reach an understanding of each other the sparks fly. She becomes more mature and he becomes more adventurous as they search for a murder at a lavish house party. The plot was very interesting and had a great steady pace. Never a dull moment. I love the old fashion murder mystery. There are plenty of twists and turns I just couldn't see coming. There is a great blend of romance and mystery. The perfect blend of both which flowed really nicely. I am very envious of the Kent sisters who get to marry such amazing gentlemen.I realized I have never taken a moment to appreciate Ambrose Kent who is the head of the Kent family. He works so hard, never gives up until his work is done and has such love and loyalty to his family. He really needs a vacation and more time alone with his wife because he has earned it. After reading nine of Callaway's books, I definitely am seeing a common theme that people should be themselves and be with other people who love them for it. This is such a lovely theme her books center around. I love seeing all of these wonderful characters and learning more about the Kent family. I am very excited about Polly's story in Never Say Never to an Earl coming Fall 2016.

Fun Feisty Romance with a Good Mystery and Lots of Sexy Scenes“He had no doubt that Miss Violet Kent was responsible for the state of his mind and body.”FINAL DECISION: This is a fun romp of a historical romance with plenty of sexy scenes, a enemies to lovers story, and a little mystery tossed in.THE STORY: Violet Kent is an unconventional woman. She likes sports and wearing trousers. She is always getting into trouble because of her curious nature. Her best friend is a man and his brother wants to keep her away because he believes her to be an untrustworthy flirty. Richard Murray, Viscount Carlisle is determined to protect his brother from Violet. When they end up at a house party together, Violet and Richard reluctantly have to join forces to solve a murder for which Richard’s brother might be the prime suspect.OPINION: I’m a fan of Callaway’s books and this one is in the middle for me. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions — the two seem to have no hope of getting together in the beginning. Violet is definitely not a stereotypical historical miss with her tomboy tendencies and her desire to help investigate crimes. She is outspoken, gets in trouble that would destroy reputations of the women in most historical novels, and doesn’t blink at engaging in pre-marital sexual exploration with Richard. The blatant sexuality of this book is typical of Callaway’s books, but I have enjoyed other books more. For me, the tension between Violet and Richard is resolved too soon and the story relies more on the mystery to move the action forward. While the story is perfectly fine and I enjoyed it, I missed the sizzling sexual tension in Callaway’s other books. The book is a quick read and there is plenty here for followup in future books. I also enjoyed Richard’s character as he has to grovel for his poor treatment of Violet in the beginning of the books — and I always enjoy the hero having to grovel.WORTH MENTIONING: Callaway’s books are always filled with very sexy scenes and this book is no different although most of it stops short of intercourse.CONNECTED BOOKS: THE VISCOUNT ALWAYS KNOCKS TWICE is the fourth book in the Heart of Enquiry series. Although characters from the other books appear, this book can be read as a standalone.STAR RATING: I give this book 3.5 stars.

All of Grace Callaway's books have been a winner and a pleasure to read. Her style of writing creates such visual clarity where the reader feels like they've been tossed back into the past and are experiencing every incredible nuance, from the characters, the scenes, the events unfolding, where the reader becomes involved within the story and dreams of them taking on a leading role within the book. The Viscount Always Knocks Twice was a pure gem. Violet and Richard were a mismatched pair or so it seemed until they both began thinking about the other and seeing qualities that endeared them to each other. Violet was filled with life and adventure, pretty much a tomboy in today's standards whereas, Richard, a tortured sort of fellow, was a staid, serious sort of guy. What was wonderful was that each saw their own flaws and each saw how the other compliment their personalities. eventually. It's all about change where Violet, a hoyden, saw Richard as grounding her and Richard, who was reserved and mistrusted women, began to question his doubts about women and started to loosen up. The chemistry between them both at first was rocky, where one fed off of anger not from each other but from from life's experience and what it taught them about themselves, but once they began to see the other person, really see that person, then that's when the passion exploded between them and oh what sensual passion. Mistrust started changing into trust. I loved the murder/mystery and how Violet and Richard became entangled together, protecting a person and working together where this is where they started to actually see the other person and changing their views. A must read where you'll be guaranteed to finish the book in short order.

5 starsI really liked this installment of the Heart of Enquiry Series - Richard aka Carlisle and Violet are perfect together. The beginning of the book was a little reminiscent of another book I have read recently (Lady Bridget's Diary), but this is Grace Callaway - I should have known that she would take these two in a totally different direction! There were so many things I really loved about this book but what I really loved was Richard. I LOVE insecure, possessive/jealous heroes (Call me crazy) and Richard was both AND he likes to talk dirty during love making (Winner! LOL).Violet is the hoyden of the Kent family - she is impulsive, wild and at times reckless. She is the perfect foil for the uptight, perfectly proper Richard.I enjoyed watching these two become friends and lovers. When Richard's brother Wick becomes a suspect in a murder - they both stepped up. Richard accepted Violet for the woman she is and Violet adored him for it. Violet is an exceptional heroine - when she is wrong, she admits it and asks for forgiveness, she doesn't really hold a grudge and she is loyal to those she loves. Lucky Richard. Not only does this book have a great romance, but it has a very good murder mystery as well. I didn't have a clue as to who the real villain was until it was revealed. The book is well written, flows nicely, plus it is funny, steamy (ish) and includes the other Kent siblings!I would highly recommend this book, while it could easily be a stand alone title - but you will enjoy it more if you read the series in order.

Another awesome, sexy historical romance from Grace Callaway! While I was annoyed by Violet and her antics (as I am with overly "independent" heroines) I enjoyed her intelligence and loving, loyal personality.Richard was a sexy, masculine, and oh, so delectable. I loved him right off, and I was very pleased with his naughty, hawt, sensuality. I'm a BIG fan of dirty talk (as long as it doesn't turn into mean, degrading hate-talk), so Richard's whispered words for Vi's ears only were off the charts yummy. The mystery kept me glued to the story, the characters enriched the plot (as they always do in Grace's books), and I am now left wondering about brother Harry, Wick, and the other secondary characters--will they get their own HEAs?!I would've given this book 5 stars, but Violet annoyed me a little too much.Grace, you need to write faster!!! I need another sexy read to satisfy my addiction right-on-the-edge-of-erotic romance!

Grace Callaway is one of my all-time favorite authors! Anything she writes is on my automatic to-read list and I feel she never disappoints! Her stories are fun, sweet and suspenseful, with plenty of romance and steaminess through out as well. The Viscounts Knocks Twice is part of series featuring the Kent Family, but can read very easily as a standalone. This particular story is one I was really anticipating because I just loved the improper and fun loving heroine Violet Kent! And she met her match in her complete opposite the stuffy Richard Murray, Viscount Carlisle. They come together to solve a mystery involving a murder and are trying to protect the hero's brother( and her chum) from being accused. As they find a truce and come together, their heated tension turns into heated passion that explodes onto the pages!

What a fun and fantastic read this was! I just loved the characters from the past novels and Violet and Richard were awesome. Violet was a hoot with her hoydenish ways and outrageous exploits. Richard was just perfect for her and it was so enjoyable to see how their relationship developed. I loved how Richard's insecurities from past rejections made him vulnerable. Then the murder mystery just added more entertainment to the plot. Did I mention how scorching hot the love scenes were? They were off the charts hot and steamy. This novel had me riveted and turning the e- pages as fast as I could. It was tip-top on all counts!

Another great story of the Kent family!! Violet just loves life and adventure until a stodgy Viscount spread rumors about her. She confronted him and pushed him into a fountain of champagne. It seems that there is heat between the two!! When they are thrown together at a house party and both come upon a murder victim. They will work together to help find the killer and make sure Wick the Viscounts brother is not arrested. Violet and Richard were so perfect together. Can't wait to read about the other Kents (Polly, Rosie and Harry).

This was my favorite sister so far. I loved Emma and Thea but Violet with her antics I loved her. I know at times she was "childish" but I loved that about her. The free spirit she has. And Richard was a perfect match as her opposite. Loved the murder mystery and it took me till the end to guess who it was. I loved that we had a lot of people who could have been the killer! Another good one.

I especially enjoyed how the relationship between Richard and Violet developed. This is a thrilling and delightful read - PERFECT!5*
