Like all of the League novels A-M-A-Z-I-N-GThis short novella is a perfect glance into the League Universe. It took me ages to actually pick this up and now looking back. I have no clue why. The Plot:9/10(view spoiler)[Fire and Ice is about Livia and Adron. Livia is trying to escape a marriage to a man older than her father and Adron is trying to escape his past, by drinking them away. They meet and Livia asks Adron to deflower her, first Adron reuses, but after a little while he realises that what can he lose by sleeping with her? He soon falls in love with her, they get married, and Adron, who was hurt when he was an Assassin, is healed. They have a child and live happily ever after. The end. (hide spoiler)]I thought this was the perfect type of plot for a romance novella; it was fast, believable and the League as a setting made you believe it could actually happen. I did not like how after sleeping with Livia once Adron realised he was in love and vice versa, I did not like how everything resolved perfectly in the end. But other than that, the novella was great. The Writing: 8/10I actually don’t have much to say here. So, I decided to leave you with the first sentence, which completely hooked me. Adron Quiakides had never been the type of man one approached recklessly. Not if one wanted to live, anyway. I mean for a first sentence, that’s a good one right. Or is that just me?The Characters: 7/10I have a few self-help comments for each of the characters. Don’t get me wrong, I liked them fine, but they could be a tad but annoying at times, but the book and their love was perfect. I could not imagine them with different personalities. My, self help comments:Adron: See a therapist. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Talk to your family.Livia: Two words. Run Away. You are a grown woman not a freaking minor.

This short story from the League series tells the story of Nykyrian's oldest son, Adron. We heard him mentioned and got a glimpse of him in the Prologue of Born of Ice. But now, the former League assassin is terrible shape. He was badly and irrevocably injured on a mission years ago, and now he lives in constant pain. He is angry at the world and wishes he would have died, rather than survive in his weakened condition. He is drinking himself into oblivion at a bar when Livia comes in. She is a princess, determined to lose her virginity, in order to escape marriage to a man decades of years older than her. She sets her sights on Adron and he is stricken by her innocence. He takes her up on her offer and is shocked to find she can ease his pain for short periods of time. When her father finds out about their tryst, Adron steps up to marry her to keep her from punishment. But their relationship is constantly tested by his injuries and his reaction to them.I loved, loved, loved this story. The sex was sooo good. And Adron is transformed in front of us by Livia's love. The ending is great too. 5 stars.*This short story can be found in the In Other Worlds (Were-Hunter, #0) anthology

4.5 StarsI just loved this! Of course, it was the cliched suffering, virginal princess gets a HEA with a scarred, tortured hero. But it was sweet and beautiful and I really enjoyed it. "I wish I could be whole for you...I wish I could hold you and dance with you, take you in my arms and make love to you the way I want to." "And I'm just grateful I have you at all. It's not your body or face that I love, Adron. It's your heart, your soul, and your mind."

This is what I call a real Disney story. This was a prince and a princess who saved each other. The prince is Adron Quiakides. Yes, it's Nykyrian's oldest son and his heir. In Born of Ice, it was mentioned that Adron was severly hurt in a mission. He traded himself for a pregnant woman who was hostage by a madman. Adron was tortured and his brother Jayce found him and as rule of the League Assassin, you must kill if you find a League assassin who is crippled and disfigured as an honor to the assassin but as Jayce is his brother. He couldn't kill him. So he saved Adron but in return Adron hated Jayce for making him live through the agony for the rest of his life. Livia typpa Vista is a princess on a quest to save herself from an unwanted marriage. Her quest is to lose her virginity so that marriage doesn't happen. And that was the night when she found Adron in a bar who she doesn't know his identity or that he is the legendary commander. Those two soul clicked. Livia healed Adron as she is half Trisani and half human. It killed her but her mother who is a full Trisani saved her. It was a beautiful ending! I loved this story. Love the glimpses of the past. How the brothers grew up. Amazing short story.

This story follows Born of Night's Nykyrian and Kiara's oldest son, Adron. A League Assassin like his daddy, Adron becomes horribly wounded when he trades himself to a psychopath in place of a pregnant servant. Eight years of constant pain later, he's a real dick to say the least. Then he meets Livia, a naive princess on the run from marrying a man older than her father! Eww.Sherrilyn tells us in her author's note that she originally wanted this to be a full length story but in order to get it published at the time (no one was buying futuristic scifi), she shortened it into a six chapter story. I personally would love to see her tackle these characters again and expand the story back into what she originally had it as. For me, far too short but a very touching story.

=====>>>>> TOO TOO TOO SHORT <<<<<======This was an AWESOME story, but WAY too short, I think it could have gotten a little more in the family lives and even a little more cute moment of the love that developed between the couple... but it didn't, which is such a lost opportunity... I can only hope they bring this couple back again in another story in the series but it wont be the same.I can understand why Sherrilyn Kenyon made this into a short story but I really wish she hadn't... I would have even been happy with a couple of more chapters about how Livia and Adron's love for each other developed... I hate using my own imagination, that's why I love to read.Anyway that's the main reason this book didn't become one I wanted to give the unrated 6th star. I just think it was TOO TOO SHORT and I SO BEYOND wanted more and I think SO MUCH MORE could have been added to the story... Especially when it came to the family part of the story.

A short story about a scarred, tortured hero and a sheltered, rebellious heroine who are perfectly suited to each other.Adron lives in constant pain after the torture he endured a number of years ago and has shut himself off from the outside world and his family. Livia is a princess who refuses to obey her father who wants to marry her off to a man older than himself and runs off in a desperate effort to thwart his plans. The two meet and end up saving one another, after overcoming the various obstacles in their way.Interesting story in the League universe and the first one of the second generation. The series continues with Born of Shadows which goes back to the first generation League.

4.5 stars, only because it's so short. Otherwise it'd have been a 5.This book is one of the most special and unique books I have ever read. I absolutely adored BOTH of the characters. The heroine was so giving and generous and flawless, and the hero was so incredibly heartbreakingly tortured. It's not very often that I add a short story to my 'heartbreakingly wonderful favourites' shelf, but I added this - so you can imagine how very amazing it must have been.I'm definitely going to do a reread on it soon, God willing.

Wonderful novella in one of my favorite series! I've heard others wonder why Adron didn't get a full-length story, but I think this tale fit nicely in the novella size. Livia and Adron's love was joyous to behold, and the lengths Livia was willing to go to in order to save Adron's life was amazing and selfless, truly representing a perfect love. I love this whole world that Kenyon has built and I jump at the chance to be in it if only for a little while!

This was a really good story. I felt so bad for Adron. I have to say I didn't blame him for being bitter and angry. I have to say I wouldn't want to live like that. As for his anger for Jayce was misplace. Of course his brother couldn't kill him. I wouldn't be able to either. It was a sweet and perfect ending.

Story of Adron, the son of Nykyrian (Nemesis) and Kiara, from the first book in the series, Born of Night.Adron has been seriously injured (we learn the backstory of that in this novella) and cannot live a normal life. He obtains a wife somewhat by accident and determines to rid himself of her, but it doesn't go that way . . . His lady love is Livia.

Adron and Livia story, together with Nyk and Sun's are my favourite Ligue series books.I just wish that Serrilyn expended it to full book not only the meeting of them booth. I think Adron life story is good to tell.Nevertheless I enjoyed immensely

Beautiful and sweet romance. It is a novella so doesn't take long to read. Even the sex in the book is beautiful.

I haven't read any of the series in which this short story takes place, but I found myself sucked in anyway. Usually something with future elements and things like "transports" would immediately turn me off, but this story was well written and engaging.Adron is a grumpy and crippled ex-league assassin who simply wants to drink the night away in a crappy bar. Livia is a princess of some other culture that keeps their women separate from the males of the species, pairing them off for arranged marriages (in this case, a significantly older man). In an attempt to escape her arrangement, she is determined to make herself less prized by giving herself to the first guy that seems suitable. That person, of course, ends up being Adron. Even though Adron has a pretty rough exterior, it's clear that he still cares. One night with an incredibly attractive woman isn't exactly a hardship to him. It does, however, change his life. Through a series of surprising events, these two end up bonded for life and it is certainly not an easy life (especially fir Livia). This story managed to jam a lifetime of experience and stories into a very quick timeline. Livia and Adron were a wonderful romance to read about and it almost convinced me to read the series. I'll think about it, but I'd rather just be happy with the small glimpse this story gave me. Oh, and don't worry, there is a solid HEA.

AMAZING. you DO NOT wanna miss this one. It is simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Sherrilyn Kenyon really knows how to portray emotions and is an awesome writer. 3.5 is worth the read. The story revolves around Livia a Vistan princess and Adron an Andoran prince and heir to the Andoran throne. He is a bitter alcoholic before he meets Livia at a bar-The Golden Crona. Livia's father wants her to marry an eighty two yr old mann just so that he can negotiate a deal with him. The 82 yr old moron wants to marry a virgin and as Livia is one, the poor girl is forced to do so. She meets Adron at the Golden Crona, where she manages to seduce him with a kiss. He takes her to bed after that. The father discovers that she has had sex with Adron the next day and Adron declares her his wife to which she agrees and her father disowns her. Their romantic love story continues till Adron is about to die. Livia cannot stand this and summoning her complete healing powers she heals Adron permanently and completely. But half her brain gets neurologically burnt up and she is living her last. Adron makes it to her fathers palace and manages to get his message through to Livias Trisani mother who comes to heal her daughter. A year after this a prgnant Livia has given birth to Adrons son- Caillen. The happy ending of the story. A must read for all romance lovers. I strongly recommend it.

"Fire and Ice" by Sherrylin Kenyon. Book 4 in The League series.Published in the anthology "In Other Worlds" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This novella is a second generation story in The League series. The main character is Adron, the son of Nykyrian and Kiara (from book 1, "Born of Night"). On the official website, this novella is counted as Book 4 in the series.I liked this novella but I really wish it would have been a full length book. I really enjoyed the characters of Adron and Livia and wished their story could have been fleshed out more. In the previous book "Born of Ice", it was stated that Adron was hurt very badly and suffers from ongoing pain but what exactly happened is only glossed over. In this novella, we are told what happened to him and now this story shows the after-effects of that incident. Then we are introduced to Livia, a woman trying to get out of an arranged marriage to a man over at least 40 years older than her. This man wants a virgin bride so she's determined to "fix" that problem with the first hansom and kind man she can find. This story is really a very good love story. I enjoyed both characters. Both were very likable and you did get the feelings that each of them has for each other. Good chemistry between them. Like I mentioned earlier, I wish there was more to the story.Overall, it's a nice, fast read when you need a little romance kick.

THE GOOD Adron: You remember Adron? We met him in the last book. He was a bad ass league assassin and Devyn's best friend. And now? Now he is a wounded soldier, injured so badly that his body is barely holding itself together. He and Jayce, his brother, were so close. Until the day Jayce found him injured and just couldn't bring himself to kill his brother. And Adron has hated him for it ever since. Livia: Livia is a very nice female lead, but perhaps a bit too.... weak willed? I suppose that's the best way to describe her. But her half Trisani powers were very interesting.Taryn and Tiernan: The twins and Adron's kid brothers. They remind me a lot of Jayce, jokesters and pranksters and very charming. Jayce; Poor Jayce. We only see him briefly and he entire scene is just filled with Adron's hate and regret towards his brother.... but I think what we would all be asking is... Would Adron have been able to kill Jayce if their roles were reversed? THE BAD Zarina; She is still not a very likeable character.Livia's Father; This guy is just an asshole - first for trying to marry his daughter off to an 80 year old man and then for disowning her after she married someone else.... who was technically royalty...

Let me start by saying that this novella was way too short. I want Adron and Livia to have a full length book. By it being a short story there are some pieces left out. They came together quickly and fell in love even quicker. I realize that this was originally a full length book but Kenyon cut it down. I wish we had the missing pieces back. The story works like this but it would be so much better with more details. Oh, I want to know what happens to Thia. She ran away with her fiancé? What? Why can't Nykerian and the Sentella track her down? Hopefully some day we'll find out that story too.

Read this short story in the anthology "Man of my dreams", it´s my first encounter with the League world and i´m intrigued and definitly want to read more. Livia is about to be married with a man her father has chosen, an old man she´s no interest in. To escape this trap she´s in a bar to find any man to help her with her virginity. She stumbles upon Adron, a retired commander with health issues. He can´t refuse to help her and when they´re found the next morning they both agree to something they never thought would happen the day before, =)

Nice little story about Adron Quiakides who after a suicidal mission is badly hurt and wants seriously to die but doesn't even dare kill himself for the love of his family. (but hates his brother for saving him ?)Livia is a princess who doesn't love her life as well and wants to give away her virginity to avoid a marriage. How fortunate that they happen to find each other in a bar and fall for one another.Great story about acceptance, forgiveness and love !

Livia and Adron's story!!! Adron is an ex league assassin who has been severely injured before he left the League on the eight year celebration of his "life- change" he meets Livia a Vistan princess running from a life her father has set for her. I have read both the original version and the latest version in In other Worlds and it is still one of my favorite League stories... I just hope it was longer!!!

Really fantastic short story! One of my favorites. It was simple and yet so well done. Adron and Livia are sweet together and have one of the easier things to overcome (compared to other couples of the series), his disability. There are a few moments when I couldn't figure out why Livia didn't just get her mother to come help but I supposed her disownment was the obstacle there.Overall really good.

I liked Adron from the start, but the story was so short to know him better. Also: no wonder everybody gets pregnant, they never use protection... you would thing they have enough sense in the future, but I guess not. (I don't like this part of the series, but yeah, anyway, I like the series)also: omg, what happend to Thia?!??!!I'm still waiting for Nero's and Drake's book.also the 2nd generation characters seem so interesting.yes please.thank you.

I was only able to take a few things away from this short story: - Now I know what happened to Adron, - Thia was mentioned, - There's another Caillen in the mix.Having said that... - I wonder if Adron will me in any of the future books in the series? - The door is open for Thia to come back. I bet she's evil which would mean we get to see a Paden all over again. - What does Caillen have to do with Caillen? Unless the name is "space" for John then I guess the point is moot.
