***4.5 Hearts Repentance is the first book I have read by Cassia Brightmore and it left me wanting more! I am reading it as part of the Heart & Daggers Anthology and this is definitely one of the darker stories...Sam got his revenge and now he is being sent back into society after being in prison for the last seven years. He feels that he deserves more time for the sins that he made years ago but the state doesn't so he is free. He wants to start over and decides to move to Tennessee and open a carpentry business. He lost the love of his life almost ten years ago and he is not looking for love again. He doesn't think he deserves it and who would want him after the sins of his past? Then she enters his life...Emma is tired of being treated like a kid. She wants her Uncle to see that she is ready to start her own business, a bookstore and wine room. To prove that she is ready, she has to work in a business setting to see the behind the scenes activity. She didn't want to work for some mysterious new man that came to town but then she sees him and melts. Sam's body is made for all the sinful thoughts she has going the minute she sees him.Sam and Emma don't have an easily formed relationship. Not even a friendship really but she wants to know more about him. She wants him to want her but she can sense he is a closed book that she wants to badly open. Sam feels guilty for wanting Emma so much, he doesn't think he deserves her. Will he ever forgive himself so he can find love again? This story isn't just about Sam and Emma, there is another story tied in and that makes it even more suspenseful. I thought it was a great story, it is short but had a lot packed it. And the end...oh man, I want more! Quotes: “No. No, I don’t want to move on with my life at all; but we all have to play the cards we’re dealt. And for me...it’s time that I see where the chips lie.”Their embrace was angry, delicious and full of dark desires. He was better off alone and she deserved much better than him.

This is not the first book I have read by her, nor will it be my last. Like a true glutton for punishment I can't stay away no matter how much my mind is blown.Former deputy Sam Ridley has done some pretty bad things, but they were done for revenge and vengeance for his wife. He paid for his sins by sitting in prison but even upon release he doesn't feel like it was enough to atone for what he has done. "The fun-loving, somewhat nerdy man he'd used to be was long gone. In his place was a man teetering on the edge of redemption."Moving far away from "home" he attempts to readjust to life again. Taking over a business as a carpenter, living as a somewhat recluse he hires Emma for answer phones and do his books. Emma takes the job for the brooding yet devastatingly handsome Sam as a means to an end. In order to get what she wants she needs to prove herself. "She accepted him. Even though she shouldn't. She wanted him."Sam is not ready to move on and Emma is willing to try to understand what is going on in his head. They have no problem in the chemistry department; it was hot and rough and raw. But of course no town is safe from Ms. Brightmore. The psychos just get creepier and their deeds get more and more messed up. And then...we get to the end...that blows my mind...AGAIN!I do think these messed up tales get better and better as we go along. While this was short, the story moved along at a good pace and I have had a soft spot for Sam. These were two good solid characters; one totally damaged and the other perhaps strong enough to deal with that.

Repentance is the fourth story in the Darkness series. This book gives us the story of Sam Ridley. We first met sam in Malevolent when he was a Sheriff's Deputy and searching for a killer. Unfortunately for Sam, the love of his life, Hailey was a victim to the killer in the first book. Fast forward to the third book and Sam makes another appearance, not necessarily for the better, which gives us the foundation for Repentance. In Repentance, Sam is out of prison after serving time for the crimes he committed in Denouement. Intent on starting a new life, Sam relocates to Tennessee. While starting his business, he meets Emma, who has a sad and somewhat tragic past herself. She wants to make something of herself and gets a job working with Sam. However, as with all of Ms. Brightmore's books, there is no clear path to a happily every after. Sam and Emma must contend with a killer(s), who want to take away what little happiness Sam has left.Repentance is a good addition to the Darkness series. It is dark, gritty, and will leave you saying "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?" I like how the characters are intertwined in the books. I do find it a bit farfetched that these same characters have to deal with so many killers and tragedy, but I guess that is the fictional aspect. However, the book is very entertaining and a good read. Reviewed by ShannonLLEP Review Team

This book we have Sam back... After being convicted for the crimes he committed while infiltrating within Mila's circle, he's out after serving a 9 years prison.. I kind of feel sad for him while reading the first book. Cos he lost his Wife to the sick bitch and b******. And I'm happy for him that he managed to find new love with Emma in this book. The ending did send some shock to us. Revealing the true identity of Emma. But to be honest, not much of a impact on this book. Cos it consider a short read compare to the other 3 series.. There's still lots of open questions left unanswered... Who father Dane?? And what happen to Sam and Emma after that sick b****** came looking for Emma. As for the last book, there's a preview of what happen 20 years later. So I'm actually pretty looking forward to the future series.

I loved this. As much as I wanted to throw my kindle away in anger, I cannot be angry for Sam. He did find his repentance in this story. He has faced so many insurmountable things in his life and to finally, just maybe, find some slice of happiness? I thinks it sure is about damn time! Emma was that girl you root for. She speaks her mind and isn't afraid. I loved her as a character. Cassia really brought her A game and I cannot wait to see what she has planned next!

This can not be the end of this Series !!! No way can it end like that . I got a taste of the ending from the 3d book and this was not the story lol I'm glad Sam started to get his happy ending but someone needs to kill Marcus !!! Fingers crossed for a final book and ending for all the characters still alive !!!

This one gives you insight on Sam and we get to meet new character Emma. Sam gets out of prison after how low he had to go get his wife's killer. Emma had to work at Sam's new business because her uncle said so for her to open a book store. Sam and Emma have great chemistry.Of course there is danger around the corner. Emma doesn't know until the last minute and well Sam let go of the passed and save Emma lose another love? What a cliffhangerI highly recommended you read books 1-3 so you know what's going on.Reviewed for MNP

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports. Repentance is the final book in Cassia Brightmore's Darkness Series. It's also included in the Hearts and Daggers Anthology. If you've not read any books in her Darkness series your really missing out and should read them They will blow your mind.Sam Ridley is a former Deputy Sheriff who suffered a devastating loss. With his need for revenge came a slip into the dark side and a ten year prison sentence. Now out on an early parole he's looking for redemption. Not wanting to subject himself to the thoughts and judgement of got her in the town he use to live in, Sam moves to Tennessee to start his new life. Emma Danvers lost her parents at a very young age and has a huge dream A dream she's determined to make come true. If only her Uncle, who controls the family fortune, would trust her she could make her dream come true. After a ultimatum, Emma reluctantly agrees to go for a job interview. Heading straight to Sam's door.As with any Cassia Brightmore book, you better buckle up and hold on because you know your in for a wild ride. Repentance does not disappoint!! She has this way of drawing you into a story and not letting you go to the very end, the landing is usually bumpy but so worth it. I love dark and gritty with a side of love and lust if that sounds like your kind of read then grab this story and enjoy I have always had a soft spot in my heart since reading Malevolent for Sam I was excited to see where he was going to go and what was going to happen. Remember Cassia is the queen of all this Darkness kingdom and she spares you none of the freak outs she knows she's going to cause. Read with caution because she's fearless in her writing and subject matter. Bring on Lincoln Hospital!! I'm beyond ready for the new series. I can't wait to see how hard Cassia blows my mind.

✯✯5 Twisted Stars!!!✯✯I met Sam Ridley in Cassia Brightmore's first bookMalevolentin herDarknessseries. He lost his wife the love of his life. He was able to get his revenge and take out that evil nasty bitch. Sam gave into his dark side. And, it cost him a lot. His best friend, his job, his life and almost his humanity. Now, he's getting out of jail early. Sam is not happy about this. Sam decides to leave his hometown and move away to Tennessee and open a carpentry business. He's kind of the talk of the town. Not many people have even seen him. But, his work has proven great and his clientele is growing. Emma Danvers wants to open her own business. But, her uncle is making it difficult for her to get what's her from her parents death. He's making her get a job and keep it for 6 months before she can get her hands of the money. Emma was livid until she saw Sam and his body. Then, she figures if she can look at him all day how bad can it be.These 2 get into a routine. They hardly speak except business related. But, they can sense each others eyes on them all the time. Sam can hear his old best friend Brady in his head telling him it's OK to move on and fall in love. He deserves it.Before these 2 can figure out anything out something or rather someone gets in the way. Somebody has been kidnapping, drugging and killing women in the town. Then, then there's a knock on Sam's door and it's a evil cruel sadistic bastard standing in the doorway. This is Cassia's forth book. And, it's the fourth time I finished my book and my jaw dropped, a lot of nasty words came out of my mouth and my kindle went flying. No, I'm not kidding!! Cassia may be beautiful and a sweetheart BUT her mind is one evil nasty scary thing. I'm kinda glad she lives so far away Bc I'd hate for her to get mad at me. I'd be scared for my life. I loved this and can't wait to see what happens inLincoln Hospital .

Reading and reviewing this as a part of the anthology Hearts And Daggers. This novella was in the Hearts & Daggers anthology and is the first one I have read in the anthology so far because it happened to be an extension of the trilogy I was reading by Cassia Brightmore and after reading the first three books of the series there was NO way I was not reading this novella. And I pretty much could copy any of my reviews from one of the first three books for this review because Ms. Brightmore did not disappoint!. It doesn't matter if it's a full length novel or a shorter novella, she still packs it full of suspense, drama and sexy time! Also, just because it was a bit shorter in length, in no way does it mean that it was lacking in anything that makes anything but a 5 star read! As well written as it was, I still did not want it to end. But that is the way I have felt at the end of each one of Cassia's books! I could just continue reading and reading her work. If you are intrigued by dark, twisted mindf*ck stories, this is a series you really need to read! But I strongly suggest if you start the series make sure you have all the books at your ready, because if you don't and you have to wait to get the next book, you will be pissed off at yourself. I am so glad I waited until all of them were released before I started reading the series, because I honestly do not think my kindle would have survived. Thank you Cassia for sharing your amazing gift with all of us book lovers out here!

http://s56.photobucket.com/user/desti...5 STARSI lOVE THIS SERIES!!!Will it be good or evil that wins? You will just have to read this to find out! Through out this series this has been the question to be answered. What you will also find through out this series is the connection of love in all forms and you will see that both good and evil suffer. In this book you will see that sometimes redemption and forgiveness comes with a price that some cannot give, accept or fathom. Emma is strong, smart and determined. Now she must prove to her uncle she is ready to run her family's business. Working as a receptionist for a man that is gorgeous, hot and sexy is one thing, but add quiet, closed off and rude, well you know sparks are going to fly to bright it's going to hurt you eyes. Sam has began his life after serving his time. Living with the pain of loosing Hailey and the path he chose to exact revenge for her murder. His business is thriving and he needs a receptionist, but what he gets is a firecracker that puts a spark in his world and he doesn't like it one bit. Their story will teach you how to forgive and how to accept forgiveness, but most importantly it shows us how to forgive ourselves so we can move forward and live life as it should be, with happiness and love. But getting to this point is treacherous and can hurt a person more than they are willing to face.

Where do I even start? 3 stars because I love Sam but there's many things that didn't work for me. 1) Marcus. No way. I refuse. I get that it's a wow factor at the end BUT there's no way a person can get plastic surgery to become someone else's twin and then get plastic surgeries just to turn back, how the hell do you go back to look like yourself. I am no plastic surgeon but doing the research, impossible. First of all, you'd need hundreds of surgeries to turn yourself into someone else and once it's done there's no going back. I'm super upset about this bc it takes a lot from the story which up until that point was almost a 5 star read. 2) I found 8 errors throughout the story. To me, that's a lot for a novella. They were small errors, human errors but still. 3) I would've liked to see more development in S&E's relationship although I cannot be picky bc I understand this was a novella so I'll let it go. Damn this sounds like I am listing all wrong things. Here's some of my favorites... I love Sam, my love for him will never end, Period. Also, I'm so glad that Emma was a kickass heroine bc I was very worried I would hate her for taking my man but I approve. Last but not least, Cassia never fails to deliver some crazy ass twists. All in all, I wish Marcus wasn't brought up, or at least not in the way he was. Either way, this was a quick fun read. Cassia's twisted mind never ceases to amaze me.

#####5 Darkness Personified Hashtags#####Cassia Brightmore is legitimately the undercover queen of darkness. Her entire series is a masterpiece. With the addition of this novella, Repentance, she really steps it up. The skill with which she masterfully interweaves this story into all the others, but still provides a freshness that is unique, is unparalleled.Repentance is a tale of Sam overcoming his past... repenting for his own sins, till he meets Emma... who knocks his whole world on its head.Though a novella, Repentance didn't feel lacking in suspense, action or lust. Cassia manages to provide a new character to this series that still feels as developed as all the others, while providing you enough breadcrumbs to the past that you feel a strong connection.I highly recommend this entire series, but I think Repentance is a beautiful raven black feather for Cassia Brightmore to add to her impressive cap.

*Carla's Five Star Review**I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review. This is the final book of Cassia's Darkness Series, and it is a part of the Hearts and Daggers Anthology.Sam Ridley has been through hell. After the love of his life was brutality murdered,he gave in to his thirst for revenge and as a result was sentenced to ten years in prisons for his crimes. After an early parole forces him to re enter society, he seeks refuge in a small town in Tennessee. His hope is to leave his past behind and make a fresh start. What he did't expect is Emma Danvers, As Sam and Emma get to know one another, Sam must decide if he is willing to put his heart at risk again, and once Emma learns about all of the terrible things that Sam has done will she still want him or will she see him as a monster? Or will happiness be ripped away by the deadly obsession of another?I must admit that when Cassia announced that we were all going to be mad at her when we finished the book, I was nervous. However, she couldn't have been more wrong. The story is written perfectly!! I can't wait for Lincoln Hospital!!!

I have loved Sam since the first book in this series and was absolutely devastated for him. The first twist with his character was beyond shocking but that wasn’t the only twist so once again I was rooting for him. So I have to say I was a little disappointed for him, I really didn’t care for Emma and since it was a short story I never really got to feel a real connection with them. I am happy for Sam but I guess I just wanted more for him. I kind of wanted him to get more of what Brady and Gwynn got but I didn’t feel that way. I honestly felt more for Sam than any of the others in this series after his part was revealed in the last book to be honest. So yeah I was hoping he would get a little more. But regardless I loved getting some more Sam and hopefully that ending means we will get a little more Sam later. Holy shitballs, I didn’t see that one coming. It was clear there will be more Marcus and even Dane after the end of the last book but this ending still managed to throw a big ole curveball….at the last freaking minute. Damn it Cassia, you are so twisted….and I like it.

I reviewed Repentance by the talented and twisted Cassia Brightmore. Sam Ridley was one of the characters from the beginning of the Darkness Series that left an imprint on our hearts. Sam has tried to live without his love Hailey when she was brutally murdered and serving time for his dealings with bringing down the vicious Mila, he has to start his life over again. Emma Danvers just wanted to live her own life and do what she loved but her overprotective uncle had her jumping through hoops. Insert job with Sam.Attraction, hot sex and a brooding Sam make this book a great read. Oh, I forgot to mention the murders going on in town.Someone is taking these women from around town as he waits until he can get to his true love. The question is, will Sam be losing another love? If you are a fan of the Darkness Series, then this is a must read. I received this book for an honest review

Repentance by Cassia BrightmoreWow!! Just can't get enough of Cassia Brightmore's books. This is the final book in the darkness series and my goodness what a ending.I'm in a total spin and my kindle almost didn't survive again lol..Sam has done his time for all the things he's done, while seeking his revenge. Now he must move on with his life. Which is easier said than done. He's not looking for love...Then he meets Emma..Emma is trying to start her own business. Her uncle isn't taking her dreams serious. He doesn't think she is ready and says that she must hold a job for six months. It just so happens that the job is working for Sam. When she meets him she's totally blown away. How can she work for six whole months with this sexy man? She can't even think straight while in the same room as him...Now there is a lot more to this short story but don't want to give spoilers.YOU MUST READ ;)

Ok I have to air my girl crush here. I love Cassia Brightmore she writes stories that have you on edge the entire time. Her books flow seamlessly from one viewpoint to another. The characters are well developed and to be honest they are so much so that I find myself looking over my shoulder after reading them.Sam basically lost himself after his wife was brutally murdered. He crossed over into the dark and after serving his time he is released and knows he should make peace but how? His new receptionist however stirs feelings that he has no idea what to do with. The secrets he carries however may send her screaming. In true Cassia form however the last page will leave you wearing an utterly shocked expression.I was gifted a copy as part of The Hearts and Daggers Anthology for an honest review.

Main characters: Sam and Emma. Sam is looking for salvation. Sam was released from prison. Sam bought himself a business in a new town hoping to start over in life. Emma's uncle arranged for her to work with Sam. Emma needed to prove to her uncle that she could hold a job and show responsibility. Two killers want the same woman. One killer served his time for his crimes while the other was still loose. Emma fit the profile of the victims. It's a short quick read about two separate killers. One seeking redemption. One killer sought women who fit a profile picture f the woman he lost long ago. It was an insta-connection story. Told in the third person narrative. This was book four in the series. The story contained some dark moments.

I read this as part of the Hearts and Daggers anthology. I have read Cassia's prior books in this series and Cassia does not disappoint. This is the continued story of Sam and how he moves on with his life. Emma is goods girl who is on a mission to live out her dreams. Their chemistry is off the charts, and it looks like Sam may get his happy enduing, until an old enemy shows up with some jaw dropping news. All I can say is Cassia left me hanging with so many theories swirling in my head and a hunger for her next book to hopefully get some answers.

Cassia Brightmore's story Repentance is incredible! And the ending OMG she totally blew me away. She will always be a one click for me, she has a writing style that draws you in and when you lest expect it she powerbombs your ass and rips u to shreds but all in a good way lol. Omg! I swear this author is trying to kill me! I love her work and I loved this novella as well. Just when you think all is good at the end of a Cassia Brightmore novel, she hits you hard and your sitting there thinking "I'm going to kill her"! That is the closest to a spoiler you will get out of me and you HAVE to read this! If you've read her previous novels in this series and loved them then you will love this one too!

Repentance was a nice finale to the Darkness series. I really felt for Sam, who just seemed to be plagued with difficulties. As always, Brightmore's writing was dark perfection. I am wondering if we will be seeing more of Dane in the future... Even as a child, he was giving me chills. I guess we shall see...
