A fun romp with some serious issues for people to overcome. I liked the main character. Mr. Upton proved who he was with his cowardly actions during the holdup. And his personality and character went downhill from there. Everyone has their plans on how they want to use Ruth but she really is smart and isn't going to give up without a fight. Eliza is a twit and I can see how her gossiping and pettiness gets on Ruth's last nerve. Ruth's guardian, Robert Grentham is so used to things going his way because he makes things happen. He doesn't care about Ruth's feelings about Upton, just as long as he benefits from it. Ruth's blue eyed stranger was a better man than she thought at first. He had self less reasons for his being a one time highwayman. There will also be several unexpected allies in this story too.

I enjoyed this short historical romance. It is well-written with interesting characters and enough of a story to keep me engaged. I particularly liked the main characters - the heroine is a very strong, outspoken, and smart woman. Will probably read more from this author.

I found this story too short. it could be a great read as the plot is interesting, but sadly it was not developed to its fullest potential... but if you're looking for a quick read, and love historical romance than this is definitely a book for you.

The writing was pretty good, but the plot was sometimes confusing and the romance went at light speed. It was a clean read but not very romantic IMO.
