Oh, my! How far we've come in three years! State of Destruction is really the beginning of the end of the Collapse Series, and it takes Cassidy Hart and her comrades into some of the deepest, darkest places they've ever gone before. I hope you enjoy it. :)

First of all, big thank you for letting me read the advanced copy. This is the series that got me into this genre and no other series has lived up to the Collapse series. The saddest thing is that ever new book is one more closer to the end of the series and then the end of Cassidy Hart. I cannot connect with any character more than her. I cannot get into the Day Zero books as I have gotten into the Collapse books. However, the good thing about new books is...well....NEW BOOKS! I swear I have a count down for every new State of Awesomeness books. I always feel bad when I read an author's book so fast while it seemed to have taken them FOREVER to get it out of here, but between all my classes today (and even during some of them) I was fully engaged in the State of Destruction. Like every other Summer Lane book, the plot rolls in such a perfect way that you are in Cassidy's shoes, making the decisions right along with her. Don't get me wrong- this book does throw you for some loops. But Lane's use of imagery keeps you on top of every situation, you can practically smell Uriah. This is the story of San Francisco. Our heroes have moved base and are again fighting Omega. State of Destruction is full of plans, plot twists, blood, hope, hopelessness, angry, regret, sarcasm, and Manny's comedic relief. The beginning is a little difficult to follow, due to the multiple flash backs. However, I understand that that was the best way for the story to develop. I think my favorite part of the story is the continuation of Cassidy's character development. While we have always been inside Cassidy's mind, it is interesting to see how she has changed from State of Emergency. While I have never had to deal with any of the things our beloved characters have had to undergo, it is perfectly acceptable for them to act the way they have. "Cassidy Hart has come a long way, from a frightened girl in Los Angeles to a hardened post-apocalyptic warrior," is the first line in Lane's acknowledgements and is a perfect representation of Cassidy's character in this book. I had started to dislike her in the last couple of books, thinking that she had been changed completely- she had become a hollow of a person. However, in this book, Cassidy is hellbent on vengeance, yet her wit and sarcasm have returned, making her as lovable as she was in the first two books. Sadly, there are no great Chris and Cassidy moments. Like the last book, they are again at war with each other, yet too stubborn in love to let each other good. I have started to see them less as a couple and more as partnership. This bothers me but, given their situation, is acceptable. **I would like to give one spoiler, if i may, and it is not as big as I have seen on other reviews, but that is that only one person in our little circle dies. I won't tell you who, and I won't tell you when. You'll obviously know.I can say my least favorite Collapse book was State of Alliance. Let's just say State of Destruction kicked its ass! Can't wait for the next one to hit the shelves (the cliffhanger is just too good).

**I received an ARC for my honest review.**If you don't already know, this is book #7 in a series, and if you haven't read the previous books, you're gonna be lost. I highly encourage everyone to read this series though. Anywho, on to the review!Book 6 left us with the Angels of Death leaving Sky City, only to walk into a whole new world. A world even more terrifying than what they'd been living and fighting in since Omega invaded North America 2 years before. It seems that Omega finally decided to go nuclear in their fight against Cassidy and the militias. Book 7 picks up with who survives, and how they survive. We're right in the thick of battle with Cassidy, as she fights and leads the way right to the heart of Omega. Does Cassidy finally figure out how to beat Omega? Do the militias finally put Omega back into the dark hole it crawled out of? The stress!!!I think this book really gets to the meat of Omega, the final insight into whether Omega is truly as evil as we thought it was. I found myself getting frustrated and feeling hopeless, struggling right along with Cassidy as she was struggling. I had to put the book down for awhile to take a break at times, because I was just so caught up in it all, I needed to separate myself for a minute. I really started thinking, right along with the characters, that it was hopeless. I also had my moments when I wanted to reach through the book and smack Cassidy up against the head. But I think that's what makes the book all that more real for me. As super-human as she seems sometimes, she's still a human being, with human faults. The girl has some serious communication problems, especially when it comes to (the ever so handsome) Chris. She has struggled with this since the beginning, so it's definitely just one of her character traits, and something that Chris obviously understands about her. It just get's to ME sometimes. Overall, this book is more of the same of the last books. It's fast paced, action-packed, and with a great story line to boot. I genuinely loved it, and I can't wait for the next one!!!

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review*This is the 7th book in the Collapse Series, and in my opinion the best one yet. I feel that as the series has gone on Ms. Lane has really refined her writing voice and character development. This book is non stop action and at the same time deep character development. It is darker than the previous books in the series. We see the impact of war and constant trauma on the individual characters, particularly Cassidy and Chris, and the impact of trauma on interpersonal relationships. Beloved characters react to things differently than we have seen them before and we are left at the end of the book feeling unsettled in what is to come next in the series. I am very excited for the next book release date!I am a mental health therapist. I like to use YA and NA books in therapy with youth and adults because so often the characters in books are relatable and make a good segue into talking about my clients issues and traumas... This book will be on my shelves as a tool for helping explore the impact of violence and trauma as well as loss... It gives great examples.

This book is absolutely insane. Between the relentless action, harrowing war sequences, and the absolute bottoming out of Cassidy's character as she becomes completely separated from the person she once was, this is without a doubt the darkest entry in this series. Moral gray areas abound as people wrestle with internal conflicts one after the another, and as we watch the militias fight for their lives and start taking the fight to Omega, we begin to see their pure motives begin to crack under the pressure to keep Omega at bay and stop letting them push everyone around. I'll be anxious to see where the next book in the series goes from here.

Usually by book #7 of a series I am just skimming through to get to the end because by this time I am super bored of the characters and the same ol' thing happening over and over. BUT!!!!! not this time. These characters are constantly evolving and growing and there is not a boring sentence in this book. I am chomping at the bit for book #8.

Wow wow WOW!For me, this has been the best book in the Collapse Series. I constantly found myself hurrying through what I was reading just so I could see what was going to happen next. This one is definitely a page turner. Cannot wait for the next one! This really leaves ya hangin'!

Best series yet! With every book that comes out, it gets better! The tension that is happening with the love story next to the tension of war is great with how the author puts it. It is full of excitement and keeps me at the edge of my seat! I cannot wait for the next one to come out.

This seventh installment is darker than the others are. Omega is always a few steps ahead... Hope is dream difficult to hold but the team keeps battling on even if the odds are not on their favor... And that's what differentiates them from the Omega! Keep on Summer Lane cannot wait for the next one....

And the suspense continues. Cassidy is in and out of trouble and survives more than probability would suggest possible but the author keeps making it believable.

Book 7 Did NOT Disappoint! Just like the past six installments of the Collapse Series, State of Destruction, was fantastic! I loved being in the world of Cassidy's again. A world that could so easily be a reality making it all the more terrifying. Omega is as strong as ever but The Militias, Cassidy, will not give up hope. I was enthralled to the very end not only by the action (which was packed in to the max) but also by the character development of Commander Hart, Commander Young, Uriah and the relationships amongst them. I am so looking forward to reading more. The wait might drive me mad but then again what good doesn't come with a wait? Here's hoping for evolving relationships and more enthralling battles and adventures in "State of Fear!"

**I received an ARC for an honest review** OMG! A lot of times when you're seven books into a series it starts to get mundane and/or you're just "done" with it. Not true with this book! Cassidy has been through SO much by now and this book is NO exception! You really are starting to question just how deep Omega is and who is or may be Omega. I don't know where Summer Lane will be taking us next but, I'll definitely be on board to see where this goes. All the while hoping that someday some happiness can finally be had for our militiamen and women!

Cassidy Hart and her team are back at it, trying to save the world from Omega one battle at a time. This book definitely gets a little darker than some of it's predecessors and Cassie herself is definitely developing a sharper edge than ever before. I love how real these characters all see, how appropriate their reactions always are to any given situation. I am so ready for the next book in this series, the cliffhangers get me every time.

The Collapse is real! Such a great series!I could not be more impressed with a series than Summer Lane's Collapse series. This seventh entry is so very intense. Cassie is struggling for her life, her freedom, her country and her love. It is all going down in the most disastrous struggle yet.. If you have not read this series yet you are missing one of the top apocalypse series of all out there now. So read it and get in on the excitement!
