Sam Sunday and the Mystery at the Ocean Beach Hotel Reviews
Sam Sunday and the Mystery at the Ocean Beach Hotel was written by Robyn Supraner. This is a great mystery picture book! It is about Sam Sunday, the world's greatest detective, trying to figure out why things are vanishing from the Ocean Beach Hotel, and who is stealing these things. As soon as I opened the book, the illustrations jumped out at me. The colors that Will Hillenbrand used, along with the textures and tremendous amount of detail, created absolutely stunning illustrations! Right away I knew that I was going to enjoy this story because I loved the illustrations; these pictures are probably my favorite out of all of the children's picture books I have read. The colors are vibrant and gorgeous; the texture in each animal's skin/fur is very realistic; the brush strokes used to create details such as the rain and the grass made the story lifelike. Aside from the stunning illustrations, the plot of the story flowed beautifully. This is a great story to be read aloud to children because there are many ways to promote engagement and discussion, as well as many opportunities for children to use their imagination to figure out what is going to happen next. I had a great time thinking about who was stealing the items from the hotel, and I believe that children will too. I recommend this story to everyone because I believe that everyone should experience a great story with magnificent illustrations!
Another great idea that does not work as a picture book.
