At 10,000 words, this is a short read, but very worth it! Ava, and her boyfriend, Mason, are sucked into portals that take them to separate parallel worlds. Ava finds herself in a place like a fairytale with her doppelganger, Avalon. With the help of a hunter (named Hunter), they are able to find a Unicorn, suprisingly named George. Their grumpy new friend agrees to lead them to a witch in exchange for an apple Ava manages to take from a fairy garden. Upon meeting the witch, Ava is given a potion that will take her through a portal, but the decision to go home or find the love of her life, Mason, is up to her.The very first installment of this series is certainly humorous and alluring! With grouchy unicorns and doppelgangers, what's not to love?

I rate this short story 2.5/5This review is featured on my blog: Writerly Bookish Stuff.A short story of just 10,000 words, easily read in one sitting. A good concept with vortexes, parallel universes, dopplegangers, fairies, unicorns, and the such. However, it seemed hard to capture the overall idea in so few words.I liked Ava's character as she is a tough cookie with a strong determination to find her boyfriend, Mason, who was also pulled through the vortex to the Parallel. The other characters felt a little cliche to me- especially Hunter. This may be due to this being a short story, and subsequently, character development fell a little by the wayside. If you want a quick, light read with supernatural twists, then this is the story for you.
