Marmalade's First Christmas Reviews
Adorable, sweet, sexy holiday read! I fell in love with Jake right from the start, with him saving a tiny orange kitten lost in the snow. And I loved his interaction with Marley. A really nice feel-good holiday story!
When I first read the synopsis of this book, it sounded cute. I mean, who doesn't love Christmas and kittens, right? Throw in a billionaire hero who had been burned by gold diggers, a heroine who is hurting for money but determined not to lose her father's veterinary practice, an ex-girlfriend who is just as determined to take advantage of the heroine's plight and you have the recipe for an excellent story. Because this is a romance novel that takes place at Christmas, there was the very real risk of the story becoming too schmaltzy. To be honest, it is a little, but that gives the book feel-good charm. Like other novella-length prose written by authors used to novel-length, the ending did feel a little rushed but not so rushed as to make the book feel like an afterthought, as some novellas do. There is a sex scene, but it is handled tastefully. All in all, I enjoyed this quick, Christmas-themed read. Reviewed by HR Duby for Romance Authors that Rock
This is the first book by Paula Millhouse that I have had the pleasure of reading. This is a step away from the books Ms Millhouse has writen. I loved this book. It is a fun quick read. This is a sweet love story that had been in the making for most of the main or maybe secondary characters lives, since the main character and title of the book is a kitten. I know I would have adopted Marmalade if I had had the chance. But it's a good thing that Marmalade found a forever home along with a HEA. I look forward to more books by Ms Millhouse. I Highly Recommend the sweet read.
Marley is a veterinarian who is having money troubles. Jake is a millionaire horse breeder who rescues Marmalade, the kitten. This is a quick, enjoyable read that was well-written with characters you will fall in love with. This was so sweet with a touching romance. A kitten who is just a marvelous character in his own right. And recipes that I am looking forward to trying. All-in-all, a wonderful story that will charm you and make the holidays brighter.
Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I read this book before going to work. Loved the characters and storyline. This is a must read for Christmas.
her Knight in Shining Cowboy boots 5 MARMALADE STARSOh, Holy Night, this is incredible. Now Marley might have been referring to Jake's hot chocolate when she said it, but it ABSO-KITTEN-LUTELY fits this story PURRFECTLY!! This is such an adorable, sweet, romantic, magical Christmas story!! Paula wasn't horsing around with this one! It tugs every single heart string I have, even a few I forgot about! But isn't that the beauty & magic of both Christmas and sweet, well-written romance stories? And even though I'm not a cat person, Marmalade is way too cute & precious to ignore! Paws down he is one FURRY special ball of Cupid fluff! And that's no LION! The way he roars into Jake's life, Marmalade definitely lends a helping paw to bring Jake & Marley together, then with the timing of the storm, the mares about to foal .. It’s like… it’s a Christmas miracle. ;-) Having read and LOVED Paula's fantasy series Kingdom of Chalvaren I was eager to read this one too, even if it isn't my preferred genre. OH, HOLY NIGHT I am purring with delight while tears run down my face BECLAWS of the romance, the sweetness of the story and... "It was pure magic – magic she wanted to get lost in." And lost I did!! Paula's FURNOMENAL talent had me purring, giggling, oooooing, awwwing, holding my breath, panting, gasping, crying and - believe it or not - even more! Her genuine & exceptional gift for creating such breathtaking, magical, heartwarming & PAULATACULAR stories that I love, Love, LOVE & want to read time & again while waiting for more, is indeed just that - a gift! The magic of Christmas purrs loudly and oh so very PAWFECTLY throughout this FURRY sweet & heartwarming story! Exactly what you need to put a smile on your face, love in your heart, and sparks to get & keep the home fires burning!! *wags eyebrows*
Marmalade’s First Christmas is a quick smooth read. The writing is excellent and the story is so cute. The characters are well developed and I instantly loved them; well, most of them. I was offered this book in exchange for an honest review. I usually don’t read romances; but I loved Paula Millhouse’s previous Kingdom of Chalvaren Romances, so I knew I would like the writing. As I read this book, I imagined it as one of those holiday movies we usually see on Lifetime; but I think it would work on the Animal Planet too. At a little less than 200 pages, Marmalade’s First Christmas is perfect for a day at the beach or just a relaxing evening. I loved the book and give it 5 Boundless Stars. I recommend this to anyone who likes to read. Also, the recipes at the end are an extra perk....Bethhttp://www.boundlessbookreviews.comhttps://www.facebook.com/BBReviews
Christmas LoveThis is such a charming and sweet story. Marly and Jake have a slightly bumpy road to happiness, and they finally get their HEA. Enjoy!
A Hallmark-type Christmas story.I really enjoyed this book. The story was sweet and kept the pages turning. Marley is the town vet and has some secrets. She is a likable character and you want to rally behind her. Jake is a super sweet millionaire who will sweep you off your feet. Marmalade is a cute little kitten that is looking for a home. It has horses too! OMG I really loved this story and don’t want to give anything away. Even though it’s a novella, it felt more like a novel and didn’t feel rushed. I loved the characters and felt like I was there. It reminded me of one of those movies on Hallmark channel. Such a great book to get you into the spirit of Christmas. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves romance and Christmas.
