All Liala wanted for her 21st birthday is to reconnect with her long dead mother at the place her parent's met and they used to visit until her death. Despite an old woman's warning the camp of her extended family and friends is eventually set up at a secluded little piece of paradise... and right in the middle of the local were-wolf pack's territory. Howl is a horror/paranormal/erotica story and contains topics that are not suitable for minors or the fainthearted, such as gore, non-con/dub-con, and borderline interaction. I've always been more of a vampire girl than into werewolves but HOWL is darkly crafted into a manifesto of tibbits that have me craving more of this semi dark piece of work. With that being said, D.S. Wrights does a good job lacing this storyline with dubious content. HOWL grabbed me from the prologued then somewhere in the middle lost me but my my interest was quickly restored. I loved how this author wrote characters with layers as it made the suprises oh so sweet later on. Ultimately I take joy in knowing this is a series because I have too many questions and I'm anxious to see what's revealed in the next installment. Utimately if you like action, a bit of mystery, and dark/dubious situations HOWL is for you. In my opinion it could be darker but it's still enjoyable. Shoot, it reads like watching a movie. Picture this- camping trip gone wrong, now you're in the woods either dead, running for your life, or captured.HOWL gets 4.5 always heed the creapy old lady warning stars!***I received a free copy of this book from the editor via instaFreebie in exchange for an honest review***

“We shouldn’t be here.”Howl is not only a dark but also an action packed story, it might start with a nice camping trip but that trip quickly becomes an endless fight for survival and a gory chase where no one is safe, human or werewolf.Amidst all this horror and blood you would think that the reader wouldn’t be able to focus on anything else, but I was nothing but mesmerized with the mysterious black wolf with the green eyes. My entire focus was learning more about his identity and the reason why Liana, our heroine, despite all the horrific things that were happening, was so captivated by him.Liana was also an intriguing character as she balances between the light and the dark side in this book and tries to control all the dark urges that she has. I just wish her and two other characters of the book weren’t so nonchalant about the events that happened. The ending was also quite interesting and took a turn that after all that horror i wasn’t expecting to happen and I would have liked it more if it didn’t end so abruptly.*3.5* StarsWarning Triggers: non-con, dub-con, sex scenes between humans and shifted werewolves.I voluntarily reviewed the free copy of this book that I received.

First i want to make a point that you need to read the author warning about Howl cause its not for the cup of tea time here..This is a horror/paranormal/erotica story where i found it very dark, intense, suspenseful, there is a point when reading it i went insane questioning myself on the who,the what and thinking so many thing that is gonna happen well took me every time in another direction due i was trying to figure the outcome but always got it wrong,Howl for sure put me in position that when i started it,the book made sure that i was stuck with it with no rest at all due you need/desire to know and will make your turn the pages after pages ..The writing is well as the characters Lia & Nate and including others, each has role in Howl, each one is developed but of course we will need to know more for some, the story has plot,a world turn upside down, dark element a birthday who turns out.......and here comes you reader where you want to know more so you pick up the tale and dive to this story who will take you to a journey where you will be questioning yourself too with the who,the what, the no way, holly D@mn..........Author D.S. Dark, Erotic & just a little messed up. Not everyone's bedtime reading but perfect for me.I was excited when D.S. & Lilith decided to team up to give us Howl & I certainly wasn't disappointed. This book kept me on the edge & wondering what way it would go. Totally did not see it going the way it did.Cannot wait to see where the story takes us with Hunt.**Copy received for honest review**

This story has great potential. It's almost like horror and erotica had baby and out popped this book. The beginning of this gripped me right away and had my heart pounding in anticipation. It had me thinking a million miles a minute anticipating what would happen next. Liala gets a lot more then she bargains for after she convinces her dad to take her camping to Crescent Valley for her twenty-first birthday. She wanted to re-connect with her mother that passed away shortly after giving birth to her little brother. Their camping trip goes horribly wrong when creatures from the night come attack their camp. Liala instincts are to fight back and try to save her family and friends. As fiercely as she tries, most of them are slaughtered apart from the girls. Her cousin Kiana, Kiana's friend Brenna, and herself. They are captured and taken. This is where things become even more intense. Full disclosure there is a rape scene and some intense erotica type situations that take place. If this is not your cup of tea than I suggest to not read this. Liala's camping trip to feel closer to her mom ends up being a trip that opens up her eyes to a whole other world and ends up discovering more about herself than she could ever imagine was possible. I can't wait to see where the author is going to take this story in her next installment.

Lia is wanting to celebrate her birthday with a family camping trip to feel closer to her mother who died years ago. But with a full moon and a warning from an old woman to leave, Lia knows something is wrong and not all monsters are make believe.I am not a big fan of paranormal reads but I thought I would give Howl a try since it was also an erotica. Every now and then a reader gets lucky with the unknown. While Howl started out a little slow, it suddenly turned into a very dark disturbing story. Just when you think it couldn't get any more strange, the author takes you down a frightening path even as you find yourself getting excited. At times I couldn't tell you what was up or down but I knew I had to have more. The description of Lia's fear and frightening encounter in the woods was written perfectly! After finishing Howl, I had more questions than answers and wished it hadn't ended so abruptly. While the first installment was good, I feel like you really can't dig deep into this story until the next installment is released.

This was AMAZING! simply amazing. That being said... make sure you read the authors warning about this story because it is not for the faint of heart. It is sexy, it is freaky, it is downright OMG in some places.. It is a paranormal...horror.. erotica.. not really three normal words thrown together. I couldn't read this one fast enough. I had to know what was next.. I had to keep reading and there were some spots that did creep me out. There is blood... guts.. and somehow in the middle of it all.. a light side also. The characters made me laugh at times.. They acted like this was just a normal thing but it was really well written and I loved it

This paranormal short story was a treat for this romance reader who enjoys paranormal stories every once in a while. The author pens a scary, captivating tale of a family who returns to an old campsite to remember their mother on her birthday. The only problem is, it's a full moon and even though they were warned, they still made up their camp for the night. "The moonlight bathed the forest in an eerie light through which only the headlights of the car cut, making the whole surroundings appear even more unreal and nightmarish.""There were at least three pairs of eyes out there, circling their camp."I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Going into the forest on a full moon, not so smart. Lia, lost her mother, and wants to feel close to her, that's why she talks her dad into going on the camping trip. Stumbling into a pack /turf war with the hunters meeting a handsome green eyed hairy beast that turns her on, is all coincidence right?

Howl (Howl #1) by D.S. Wrights & Lilith Dark D.S. Wrights and Lilith Dark created an amazing dark contemporary paranormal fantasy with Howl, the first book in the series of the same name.  All Liala (Lia) wanted to do for her twenty-first birthday was go on a camping trip with her brother and father in remembrance her late mother.  What she got was a nightmare and undisclosed truths about her heritage.  Howl is suitable for mature audiences.  The story takes place in Crescent Valley.   I like Lia.  The story is told from her point of view.  She is a tomboy.  She is brave, observant, and loyal.  She cares for others above herself.  I felt bad that so many people were invited to her birthday celebration which she would have preferred to be a smaller outing with her immediate family.  Lia discovers an entirely new world with werewolves and hunters that she did not know existed.  She handles herself well considering the traumatic experience she, and the others end up facing. Howl is a well-crafted story that is on the darker side.  It is not for the faint of heart, and some things happen that could have triggering effects on some people.  I enjoyed the plot and writing style.  The novel felt original and was fast paced.  The politics and dynamics of the story are transfixing.  There are many unexpected twists and not knowing who can be trusted.  I am glad I already have the second book, Hunt, so I can immediately start the story to find out what happens next.  This is the first story I have read by the duo; I am thrilled to have discovered them.  I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

    ### 4.5 Stars ###A really enjoyable werewolf novel, this one kept my interest throughout. It's a fairly short read but long enough to connect well with the characters, I read the whole story in one sitting.I personally didn't find this one that dark, but it does have elements that some may find difficult. It's quite an unusual read ...gory, sad, erotic and addictive, with some unpredicted twists along the way.Looking forward to reading the next book 'Hunt' in this series.

3.5 starsThis was the first book I've read by either author and I have to say it was a great concept for a book. There were multiple grammatical and spelling errors but it did not detract from the story. I will be reading more from these authors.Liala wants to go camping for her 21st birthday to the place where her now to see deceased mother used to take her. It was just supposed to be her, her father and her little brother, but then her cousins and uncle came and brought their friends. Little did they know they set up right in a werewolf territory. Warnings from an old woman go unheeded, will this be a big mistake? Can't wait for the second installment!!

When I first started this book I wasn't sure where the storyline was headed. Boy I am glad I stuck with this book because it was terrific. I am a huge fan of the paranormal genre. I am going to suggest going into this book blind. I am glad I did. I didn't read the blurb or anything beforehand. This book was hot as hell. And a definite twist to the storyline. I can't wait to read book two.

When I first started this book it was hard for me to get into to be honest, but I hate not finishing a book that I start, so I kept reading and I'm glad I did. By the time I was done I was captivated by this book and couldn't wait to read book 2. Love the characters and the story line.

How, this was hot, and dark, and most of all: taboo?I never thought I'd find a book that would tackle the topic of shifter-sex while shifted. Well, here you have it, but it's non-con/dub-con. WOWIt starts of slow, but then it takes of like a rocket. I'm just saying like other before me: it's like a horror movie. With sex.

Finally! A book Tackling one of my ultimate fantasies! A werewolf doing it with a human, while in werewolf form! A big fat thank you to the authors for writing this despite knowing that many People will be upset and childish about this and giving them a one-star! Boooh at all of you! This is one great emotional, horrific and hot ride. This book starts out slow, but damn you'll be rewarded!

These two authors are certainly very talented at putting their readers in the midst of a chilling, creepy atmosphere, and I was drawn into the story despite all its glaring problem - I don't think I've read a published book with more editing issues. There are so many typos and grammar mistakes that were bad enough that I sometimes had to read a sentence a couple of times to figure out its intended meaning. It also didn't help that the book was penned by two authors, as at one stage the heroine seemed to have forgotten that she had already confirmed the death of a minor character. I sincerely hope the authors will consider revising the book (and the series, which i intend to continue with) and re-publish it after proper editing. I could be so much better.

A camping trip gone horrible wrong. The concept of the story was good. I was interested once we go to the camp and things started going down him, but then right at the top it bottomed out. Erotic? Ok. Gruesome? Yeah. Paranormal? Yes. Kept my attention? Not really, I kept veering off to read something else. That's about all I've got. I was so confused by all the people in this story and who they were and who they belonged too. Plus there were spelling and grammar mistakes all through this book. I reread a sentence 5x, maybe it's because my brain isn't working, I'll take that hit. But the rest, um....You've been warned. This book is free on Kindle Unlimited, have some free time, give it a go.

I thought I knew what I was getting into when I started this book. Some clear warnings here: Dub-con, non-con, sex while in shifted form. I knew at least some of this, and specifically wanted to see the treatment. I don't consider myself that squeamish but this one really got to me.So the book starts with introducing a bunch of characters that I immediately dismissed as werewolf chow. I was not that far off. But then it gets worse. Far worse. This brutal treatment of Liana is almost played for fun. Her emotional whiplash toward the end is kind of ridiculous. That and the need for some grammar and sanity checking, and I really don't recommend this.

UnevenSo, there are several issues with this book, the largest of which is the uneven narrative. The point of view jumps around, which leads to a jarring effect for the reader. Lia is underdeveloped as a character and her reactions swing wildly from hard-hearted to protective to panicky. The book could use some editing, as the narrative is very often repetitive and over generalized. The bones of a good story are here, but it needs some work. Also, FYI, this is a serialized story.

This was an interesting book. The story is very mysterious and we have no idea what's going on. Lia manages to keep her cool even with all the craziness and death happening around her. The only thing I didn't like was that there were a lot of mistakes. Wrong word choices. It's obvious that the english isn't the writers first language but the story makes up for it.
