Dolphin Singers Voyages of the Makai Part 1 Reviews
I received a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.Fans of Island of the Blue Dolphins will definitely love this book. A story of survival, friendship and resourcefulness, Dolphin Singers features a group of castaway teenagers in the Pacific, struggling to make it back home with the help of some newfound albeit nonhuman companions. It's with the guidance of the dolphins that they learn not only about making it through the open sea, but also about each other and how to overcome their problems. This book is gripping, magical and unpredictable, and although targeted at school-aged readers it is a novel that people at any age can enjoy, with lots of info about the ocean wrapped in the overlaying story at hand. It's an excellent book and definitely one that I would recommend to any reader.
While this book would be suitable for younger audiences, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this amazing story about children sailing a boat from California to Hawaii. It was so well told and the characters so well developed that I felt I knew them personally. The author clearly knows about sailing as and times I felt like I was learning how to sail myself! The tension was palpable at times which made this a completely believable read. I highly recommend this for yourself or to read to someone else.
Finished reading Dolphin Singers Voyages of the Makai Part 1 by Francesa Hampton.Enjoyable read and I recommend to teens and anyone whose hobbies include all things nautical.
I won this book on goodreads. This book was read by my eleven year old daughter and she absolutely loved it. She thought that the story was excellent and the author used all the right words to completely describe the moment. She liked how the author told parts of the story from each character's point of view. She really wants to read the sequel, Greenstone's Promise. Awesome book! Highly recommended!!
