An attempt to broach the relatively untouched genre of humor in the Bible. I didn't find it particularly thought-provoking and in stead found many of the essays feeling rather contrived. One of the few truly successful essays was "Laughing at the Bible: Jonah as Parody" by J. Miles, and it succeeded primarily by presentation--proving the statement of many of the authors that humor is the office of the narrator. Miles' essay was successful because HE presented his subject matter humorously. Overall, not worth reading. It was useful to me, if only to increase my exposure to prominent biblical scholars and their work.
