(H FOR NEW ORLEANS STYLE MURDER—TAKE LAUGHS, TWISTS, MIX WELL, AND ADD A BELLE Colleen Mooney keeps the twists coming as fast as the laughs in her third THIRD funny cozy starring Brandy Alexander, everybody’s idea of the perfect chick lit heroine. Brandy’s blonde, adorable, has a good job, two guys to choose from, and very possibly the poor judgment to pick the wrong one. (Half the fun’s watching to see if she’s ever going to wise up.)The other half’s watching her life complicate itself in ways that would send the average female sleuth screaming into the night. First, she witnesses a murder at a drive thru joint with the unlikely name of CLUCK IT—CHICKEN BY THE BUCKET. And then it turns out nothing at the scene’s what it seems—or at any rate nobody’s who they seem. Seems CLUCK IT’s not just a place to clog your arteries, but also a transgender hangout. And with that discovery, you know you're in New Orleans. The local color never stops as Brandy’s complex Irish Channel family develops the kind of problem that’s a lot more fun on the page than in real life. What to do when your sister gets pregnant with one of the next-door twins who are also the brothers of your lifelong flame—but she doesn't know which twin? (Be glad it's Brandy’s problem, not yours.)She also finds a mysterious box of valuable jewelry under her closet floor, becomes the unofficial caretaker of the Tarot reader across the street who knows the future but can never predict when she’s going to get so drunk she’s going to fall into her own bushes, and develops a strong suspicion about one of her other neighbors, all the while juggling the two Romeos.Good thing she’s better at solving mysteries than she is at wrangling her boy friends. The reader can rest assured she’s eventually, and in fine style, going to weave together the myriad mysterious strands that confound the police (who happen to count Boy Friend # 1 among their ranks) and present them the solution with all the panache of an old-style detective like Hercule Poirot—yet none of the pretension. You can almost hear her wondering, “Did I do that?”Fans of cozy mysteries and chick lit heroines will delight in Brandy’s flat-out lovability and Mooney’s almost offhand yet spot-on (and often hilarious) observations of everyday New Orleans life. If you like contemporary stylish heroines like those popularized by Janet Evanovich, Elaine Viets, Stephanie Bond, and Gemma Holliday, and humorous mysteries like those by Donna Andrews, Dorothy Cannell, and Lisa Lutz, you're going to get a girl-crush on Brandy Alexander....

Brandy has a crazy family, no doubt about that, her love life isn't straight forward either. There is also the small matter of a murder to solve. The story is a little confusing in places, though it does eventually become clear. The murder mystery aspect was good, it kept me guessing and interested in the outcome. The cast of characters was diverse and had someone for all tastes.I did find her slack attitude to relationships off putting, especially the weekend away. It was not what I expected from this type of book, though it possibly won't concern other readers. Despite this it was a book I don't regret reading.*I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, my opinions are my own*

Brandy's back and still finding trouble! When Brandy Alexander pulls up to a drive through window, she expects to order food, not a fatality. New Orleans and her crazy characters form the backdrop for Colleen Mooney's latest mystery, as Brandy copes with the two men in her life, a new residence and a sister's upcoming shotgun nuptials. Join the fun in the latest edition of the Go-Cup Chronicles. The story is fun and funny, with with moments of sheer panic (sounds like driving the Huey P. Long Bridge at rush hour, doesn't it?). If you like NOLA, mysteries and eccentric characters, you'll love Drive Thru Murder.

Essence of New Orleans in a complex mysteryColleen Mooney is a true New Orleanian, interesting into her story the essence of this beautiful quirky city. Writing is excellent, developing her characters and plot in a most beguiling manner. The story is filled with twists that keep you guessing to the end. I look forward to reading book 4 in the series when it is published. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyable cozy mystery, with an assortment of unusual, likable characters. Brandy is clever & puts clues together for her NOPD homicide detective friends. A love triangle adds to the fun. And New Orleans is definitely a major character. I very much liked this book, and the author's writing style.

Wicked good funThis series is just too fun, being set in New Orleans is perfect. Lacey gets involved in murders and mayhem with each book. While this could be read as a stand alone. I recommend reading the series in order for the backstories. Just downloaded book four, can't wait to see what she gets involved in this time.

I love this series! It’s like da Joisey folks meets da Yats! With a little crime solving and hilarious characters and family drama thrown in. Oh and the Irish and Italian neighborhood in the Irish Channel. You can appreciate the crazy even if you don’t live in New Orleans. Love it!!!!!

Excellent cosy. Well written, unusual topic, well thought out characters with good personalizing quirks. Leaves room for further adventures along several lines. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Fairly fast read. It's a very good mystery that doesn't have you figuring out the ending by mid-book. The connection between the suspects is believable and unexpected. Yet, the plot isn't so convoluted it hurts your brain to follow along. If her other books are as entertaining, I will be giving them all a read.
