Hilariously filthy, and I'm not even a fan of Larry David. I am, however, a fan of JB Smoove, and his character Leon Black adds some much needed laughter going into the holiday season!

I love “Curb Your Enthusiasm”because it shreds the politically correct fog of appeasement and lack of accountability that enshrouds much of our lives today and replaces it with the Ruckus Dominus —a character who knows what he likes, what he doesn’t, and tells it like it is. Leon is the best. Leon figuratively, and literally, brings the ruckus to this brief, anecdotal book, and it’s liberating to read. I tend to read very late at night/early morning (3 and 4 a.m.) and woke my wife up a few times because I was shaking quietly with laughter. Don’t expect Hemingway prose, but do expect modern day Hemingway observations and insights about how to be a “real” man in today’s manscaped world.

“Sometimes the dumbest shit makes sense if you just think about it!” So says Leon Black played by JB Smoove on HBO’s "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and brought to life in this writing by Smoove and Iris Bahr (who can also be seen on a few episodes.) Written as a humorous and sometimes satirical self-help book, "The Book of Leon" is undeniably funny. To understand this book it’s helpful to know the character of Leon Black from the HBO series. A freeloader who can’t seem to take a hint, he is a roommate of "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David (playing himself). The character is quite loveable thanks to Smoove’s hilarious performance and Leon’s unceasing self-confidence, and these same things can be found in this book. If you are familiar with Leon then you can hear his voice almost narrating throughout with things such as when he compares rushing around in life with a poorly made hamburger as he says “you are the human equivalent of a crooked ass, pickleless 99-cent Big Mac”, and with that voice in your head it’s all that much more comedic. He begins a section with one topic and goes off on tangents that are both wild and fun. Parts of this book are some of the funniest things I’ve ever read (I will never forget his thoughts on a sex change operation he saw on TV). It’s a vulgar self-help book, and in all actuality, it has some decent advice at times.A little Larry David-inspired editing may have helped. An episode of "Seinfeld" has a storyline where a character goes too long with his jokes. It’s recommended to him to go out on a high note, and he employs a tactic of telling a good joke and leaving immediately afterwards so he doesn’t go on for too long while also leaving his audience wanting more. About two-thirds of this book is a delight to read, and it should have gone out on a high note. You can find humorous parts here and there in the last third, but ultimately the joke had run its course, and I’d rather have been left wanting more. A bad ending for an overall amusing read.3.5 stars out of 5

This was funny, as a whole. There were some parts where I wasn't all that into it. I didn't get offended or anything like that but the joke just fell short for me. And if you are someone who is easily offended then this probably isn't the book for you... which he does give a disclaimer of at the beginning of the book. I don't think I learned anything of much value but definitely loving the fact that the audio book was read by J.B. Smoove as Leon Black, so choosing to listen to audio book instead of reading my hardcover copy was a great move. I say, if you are a fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm and you like the character of Leon then you will enjoy this book. You can take the title quite literally and if you do that then you won't be disappointed.

Who doesn't love Leon Black? You will find yourself reading this whole book in Leon's voice and laughing uncontrollably. In my case I tried to read some of this while eating my lunch at work and ended up snort laughing so hard that I spewed food all over my desk. Thanks for the cleanup Leon. Now I have a sparkling clean workspace too. Love Curb Your Enthusiasm? Need some life coaching? Just need some direction or straight up self help? This book is for you. Leon, you're the best. (ps: JB Smoove you ain't too bad yourself)

I listened to the audiobook and I think if you're even remotely interested in reading this, you should too. A lot of JB's humour to me, comes from his delivery. The book itself is filthy, funny, and filled with (in the words of JB) "good-bad advice." There's a ton of callbacks to Curb and the relationship between Larry and Leon which always makes for funny story. If you liked Curb and found Leon funny, you'll enjoy this. If you didn't (or if you're yet to watch the show), I'd probably skip this one.

Fun for curb fansLeon is a great character on curb your enthusiasm and this book reflects the character. At times gut bustingly funny, it's an irreverent look at the world and a fun read.

Decent comedic relief and consistent with his humor and character. The really short chapters were a necessary bonus and incentive to complete the book.

A good book to discover the education culture of the Chinese people. So many truths are discovered about their belief towards educating not all of their citizen but only a few. A few who must be an elite group of students.
