Touch of Darkness Reviews
I don’t usually read YA, or Romance to that matter, but when scythes are involved it always catches my attention, and in this case, I decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did. This prequel to the Scythe of Darkness series is a very well written short story. I loved the first person POV and the flashbacks. They gave a good pace to the story.Whether I am watching a movie or reading a book, characters are the most important piece for me in storytelling and Thanatos is particularly interesting. He is a very well developed character and we can feel his anguish to get rid of his family’s dark legacy and simply live as any other young man. Not forgetting the mystery behind it all.As soon as I turned the last page, I was ready for more. Soon after that, the author gifted us readers with the first chapter of book 1, which has only increased my desire to read what follows.
I wasn't sure what to expect originally from this book but I was so pleasantly surprised. This book paints a very interesting and intriguing storyline that I couldn't stop reading. I read the entire thing in one sitting and can't wait to read the next one in the series. The use of flashbacks was so well done, you never felt jumping around or confused as to what time period you were in. And there is just enough left shrouded in mystery and wonder to keep you coming back for more, to find out the answers to all of the secrets.
This is a new genre for me and this prequel has me wanting more. This short story is full of secrets and mystery and left so many questions unanswered. I can't wait to continue on with this fascinating series. And I absolutely love this cover!
3 stars.I would have given this more stars but I have too many questions going on about the story. I guess I need to read the first book to this series as this is just the prequel. It was enjoyable and interesting though so I'm gonna need to track down a copy. I wanna know why Thanatos doesn't want to be with his family, why he has some kind of magical power in his hands and just simply, what happens next!
Touch of Darkness by Dawn Husted is a prequel novella to the Scythe of Darkness. The story is written in first-person and is from seventeen-year-old runaway, Thanatos's point-of-view.Thanatos is an interesting character with what appears to be a very sinister family. The story drew me in and kept me reading straight through to the end. A nice introduction to the Scythe of Darkness, it definitely made me want to read the book that follows.Recommended to fans of Paranormal Urban Fantasy
Ended with a good cliffhanger! Can't wait to see what happens next!
I loved this book and looking forward to more. Dawn Husted it a wonderful Author and i highly recommend book and Author to everyone.
Touch of Darkness is a well written short story by Dawn Husted. The plot of the story is well developed and I was drawn into the story from the first page. The author kept me guessing what kind of paranormal creature Thanatos was, even though I sort of guessed based on his name. This is a very enjoyable short story that I can recommend to fellow lovers of the paranormal.
Good prequel prior to the bookWell I'm very interested in reading book 1 since reading the prequel. I've purchased the Touch of Darkness book one in the series and am going to read it right now 😊
