This was a lovely Christmas read, it was a new author for me so didn't know what to expect. I found it to be a very nice easy read, short and sweet.I loved the whole secret/magical book shop, the way it was described made me just want to be in there myself, wondering around and looking at all the books. My idea of heaven. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters and absolutely adored the terrier dog, Butterscotch, who sounded truly adorable. I'm off to read the follow on book now which is Ring in the New Year.

When Ariadne finds her boyfriend with someone else, she decides to cancel Christmas. However, the elderly owner of a bookshop has other ideas. He engineers meetings between Ariadne and her friend Jess, who she discovers she has feelings for. The only problem is that he's just got engaged to another girl. Not to be deterred, the old man doesn't give up, and it becomes clear he's not all he seems. This is a feel-good Christmas story with a touch of magic. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Digital Book Spot-Kindle-Free. Could not like the main character- a selfish and self-absorbed teen in a women's body. Giving it two stars is generous.

A waste of time. I didn't like any of the characters in this, and cared about them even less. Still it was short. And free.

This is the second story I've read by Holly Tierney-Bedord, the first being 'Murder at Mistletoe Manor.' I enjoyed that and I surprised myself by liking this story too. I am not fond of the romance genre and seldom read it, but this made me laugh out loud a few times. More importantly, Ms. Tierney-Bedord has a genuine talent for bringing characters to a bigger than life existence that are very relateable to me. There is a sequel to this novella, 'Ring in the New Year' that I plan to read. The author has written quite a bit and I also plan to read more by her. Two out of two 4 stars, especially with one being in a genre I don't especially like, is like hitting it out of the park. I want to go three for three, etc.

If you're looking for a quick yet good read, I would highly recommend Right Under Your Nose: A Christmas Story by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I started this book on Friday, November 20 around 9 & read the majority of this book the following Saturday because Friday ended up becoming pretty busy for me, getting bills ready, paying every single bill we have for the remainder of November & all of the bills for the month of December so we can focus on Christmas! Anyways, that's totally beside the point. Ariadne, to me, seemed like a teenager. She acted like some girls I went to high school with, WHEN we were in high school. She most definitely did not act like a 26 year old WOMAN would act, at least I didn't think so. I agree with her about how her family treated her after the "theater incident." They should have been on her side, no matter what. Not on the side of some person they JUST met the day before. But that's beside the point. I really don't think it would have hurt them to find out why she acted the way she did. Same with Jess, being that they had been best friends for so long. As the old saying goes, Bro's before Ho's, Sisters before Misters... etc.. I'm not sure what it would be in Jess/Ariadne's situation with a male/female friendship. Jess... Well, what can I say about him? One minute he's "so in love" with Laurel and then the next minute they're fighting and he's proposing to Ariadne? That really made me question his true feelings for Ariadne! I'm sure it all worked out for the best for them though. Just FYI; I wanted them together in the beginning anyways ;) They're bickering made me giggle. Reminded me of how my husband and I used to be when we first started dating... and quite possibly still are. It's not a bad type of bickering.. The cute bickering that makes you realize how much you feel for someone! One thing I wish there would have been more of in this book is about the bookstore. I like the Paranormal aspect of it, but I wish it wouldn't have left us hanging as to what was really going on! All in all, I liked this book. It gave me quite a few giggles. I did want to pound Scott in the face, also! I would recommend reading this book!

This is the first read for me by Holly. Absolutely loved it. Im not too keen on short stories as i feel they can be rushed but not this one. I sat back and got carried away with the story. I loved the attitude Ariadne had towards Laurel and Quinley. I did think the shop was the most Magical part, it was great how it was brought into the story of the book. I was hoping the ending was just as it was. Loved this book, ideal with a hot chocolate on a wintery night. Recipe also included at the end.

Short and sweetNice story line. Liked the way the lives of the main characters merged and veered off and on again. Enjoyed the intervention of the book store owner, too. Could picture Bob Newhart in a made for movie role

Didn't hold my attentionPerhaps it was the odd names, such as a man named "Jess" and a woman named "Ariadne", but I was bored from page one. The dialogue was too forced, and there were too many typos for a novella. Not for me.

4 StarsRight Under Your Nose is a novella by Holly Tierney-Bedord. It is a paranormal/contemporary holiday romance- full of mystery and a little drama.Ariadne Daniels is a 26year old successful pastry chef, who has a lovely Victorian home in a popular neighbourhood. She and her boyfriend Scott have been together for years, and life seems pretty good for them.Things become all unraveled when Ariadne catches Scott cheating on her and they break up. She becomes depressed and can’t stand the thought of having to face Christmas, something she normally loves- so she decides that she will just skip it this year. Her family and friends don’t understand, because they don’t know what happened with Scott!“I hope you haven’t got me a present yet, because I’m not celebrating Christmas this year.”“You’re kidding.”“No,’ said Ariadne. “I’m one hundred percent serious.”“You’re not exchanging gifts, or you’re not celebrating it at all?” asked Jess.“I’m not celebrating it at all. No tree, no stockings, no gifts, no Christmas cookies. And definitely no carolling!”Her troubles seem to worsen, when Jess introduces his new girlfriend. Ariadne can’t explain it, but something isn’t right. The appearance of a quirky little bookstore and its friendly- if not a little eccentric, owner; brings a little mystery and magic into her life. Some things are not quite what they appear to be- and especially when a sly schemer is at work. Will Ariadne be able to expose them for who they truly are? What is it about the mysterious bookstore and its owner that surprises Ariadne? What does the future hold for her? Will she realise that what she needs was right under her nose the whole time? This is a perfect, short Christmas story packed with fun, magic and a heap of charm.Ms. Tierney-Bedord has her own unique style and always delivers an entertaining and original story. This book is well written and quite detailed for such a quick read. There were a few sad moments through the book, but it also had me laughing at other times. The story is fast paced and flows smoothly, although I did feel as if the ending may have been a little rushed. The characters were all well thought out and fully developed. The story is a standalone and ends with a HEA. So allow yourself an hour or two, curl up with a hot chocolate or a glass of wine and dive into this heart-warming read. Just like me, you’ll be happy you did.Thank you Ms. Tierney-Bedord!

Christmas can be hard on a lot of people because they suffer from depression and the holidays remind them of happier times. When Ariadne decided that she wasn’t going to celebrate Christmas this year, her family and her best friend tried to get her to change her mind. What they didn’t know was the reason she didn’t want to was because of what happened between her and Scott, her now ex-boyfriend. When Ariadne is on her way home from work, she comes across a little book store that she doesn’t remember seeing the many times she’s went that way. When her best friend brings his girlfriend to the shared Thanksgiving dinner her family and his do; she doesn’t like her and tries to tell them, especially Jess, that something is wrong. When Laurel insists that she come to her play the following night, she reluctantly agrees to go. When she sees the other costar, she causing a seen and her family and Jess get embarrassed by it. When Jess and Ariadne have fights, they don’t talk to each other for days or weeks at a time. When her mother decides to have, her house decked out with Christmas lights and when her friend comes home she reluctantly agrees to Christmas. When Jess proposes to Laurel, she loses it and tries to tell him and everyone else that something is right and that it’s too fast for them to be getting engaged. In the end, Jess and Ariadne finally realize that they love each other more than just friends. Holly Tierney-Bedord writes hilarious romances that will leave you wondering what is going on. Ms. Tierney-Bedord’s style is unique to only her and her alone. Who wouldn’t want to laugh at a strange couple fighting because they don’t agree that someone is the best choice for them but then realize that they love that person. Not only will you fall in love with the novel but the author as well.

3.75 stars. I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I really liked the characters in this book, especially one of the side characters whom we meet a little later in the book who is an elderly man that owns a bookstore. I thought the main character, Ariadne, was a hard working young woman who's pretty pissed off at her ex-boyfriend and therefore, decides she'll be skipping Christmas this year and avoid anything that's merry or holly jolly. She did come across as a bit self-centered and immature, acting like a teen trapped in a woman's body, but I felt she redeemed herself as she learned throughout the book that there's a lot more going on around her than she realizes. I also really liked Jess because he seemed like a really loyal and funny friend and the romance between the two was nice and sweet, maybe needing just a little more fleshing out but still, I enjoyed it. I loved that this novella was mainly dialogue and maybe it was a creative touch or simply because it is a very short book but either way, I really enjoyed it. The dialogue kept the story moving, only broken up by little simple descriptions of the settings, people, emotions etc. I've never really read a book that was mainly dialogue so it was a nice change. Even novellas that I've read before I felt could've done without so much description and I think this book was a great example of limiting description to only what is needed.I didn't give this book a five-star rating because while I thought it was fun and quick, funny and light, I did wish it was a few pages longer. I thought the ending could have used another chapter or two to tie everything together nicely and avoid feeling rushed. I thought the book had a nice pace throughout until the ending that felt a little sudden.

Right under your nose by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I give this book 5/5 stars. The theme of this book is when two friends are brought together by an old book shop owner who passed away three years before. This is a novella.Ariadne is a chef who has had her heart broken. She leans on her BFF but when he finds a girlfriend that goes down the drain. Her life is changed when she meets the owner of Right Under Your Nose. The quote I chose for her shows that she's not doing Christmas this year: “No. Of course I don't like my surprise. I've told you a hundred times that I'm not celebrating Christmas this year!”Jess is her bff and has been since birth. He brings his girlfriend to Thanksgiving at his parents house and things go downhill. His life is changed when he finds out the truth. The quote I chose for him is when he wants to break it off with his fiancee: “Can I set our status to ‘Engaged’? I mean, that ought to get the point across, right?”This is the first book I've read by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I really liked everything about the book. I felt so many emotions throughout the book. I was instantly in the book from the beginning. I highly recommend this if you holiday romances. Check out this amazing author, series and any books she has.

Right Under Your Nose by Holly Tierney Bedford is a Christmas Novella about Ariadne Daniels, a baker, and her escapades after finding her boyfriend in a compromising position with another woman. This is a great little story that will have you feeling the Christmas spirit. My only gripe is that I wish it were longer! After breaking up with her boyfriend Ariadne decides that she is just going to skip Christmas, which her best friend Jess, whom she has known since birth and her family don’t agree with. Throw in an elderly bookstore owner who just happens to know exactly what Ariadne is missing in her life and some magical moments ensue. While making some needed adjustments in her life Ariadne begins to find there were a lot of things going on right under her nose (pun intended), that she might end up losing if she doesn’t make the right choices.Watching Ariadne and Jess realize what has been happening and learning more about their true feelings for one another was entertaining and definitely shows that you don’t see what is right under your nose. This is a great novella to while away an afternoon on the couch with your favorite blanket and hot beverage, I recommend you try it.

Right Under Your NoseBy Holly Tierney Bedford★★★★This is a really cute best friends to more story with a holiday theme. This is a quick read with a little holiday and a magical twist. Definitely a 4 star Christmas read. This story is about Ariadne our h who just went through a breakup and has decided to skip the holidays. Her best friend Jess our H has always liked her but the timing has never been quite right. A spirited old man with a little magic steps in to help these two find their way. Between an unstable fiance and a feisty family the authors takes us through the holidays to Ariadne and Jess’s HEA. The ending was a little rushed I’d have liked to have spent a little more time with these two as a couple, and I had to change the h’s name because I had no idea how to pronounce it. But all in all this was a nice holiday read. This is a HEA with no cliffhanger :)

“He was exactly what she’d always wanted, yet she hadn’t realized it.”Right Under Your Nose is a fun, fulfilling novella. While I didn’t absolutely love the lead female character, Ariadne, I thought she acted like a bratty high schooler instead of the successful 26-year-old that she is, she grew on me and by the end of the story I was rooting for her. I absolutely loved the banter between Ariadne and her mother and the bickering between Ariadne and Jess. I detested Jess’s girlfriend, Laurel, which is what the story should have me do. I enjoyed the magical aspect of the book store owner. Overall the book was entertaining as two childhood best friends grow up, have relationships with others, then one day realize that they belong together. This is a nice, quick, Christmas read. Bonus: recipes included at the end!

I was flying home Christmas and thought this novella length story would be a nice way to spend the time in the air. Ariadne finds herself dumped for the holidays and has decided she is having nothing to do with the holiday season. With a little bit of Christmas magic, Ariadne finds that the love of her life has always been there. My only issue with the storyline is that we never learn why Laurel, Jess's fiance (the guy who's always been there for Ariadne) was so intent on being Jess's fiance. There's a twist with Laurel but I just wanted to know how much of a stalker was she. Like, I like a guy and I'm going to try and catch his attention or the whacked scary stalker.

A seasonal read. This is a 2.5 read really, but it's given a boost by being one of those reads, that are best read during Christmas...magic just fits better now. As far as the story and characters go, it's the run of the mill friendship with romantic hints, but always happening at the wrong moment.I'm not a fan of how the love interest treated the person he was with - even if she was not on the up and up.* A lucky fish am I, I got given a copy of this read.*
