4 ½ stars – Contemporary RomanceI really enjoyed this story of a sexy playboy millionaire and the quirky girl next door who marry as a business arrangement so that he can inherit his father’s company and she can pay off debt and take care of her ailing mother. It would have been easy for the author to fall into the usual stereotypes and formulaic plot devices, but the characters are multidimensional and genuine, the friendship and deeper relationship that develops between the H/h is believable, engaging, and sweet, and the emotional insecurities and misunderstandings they have to overcome and work through together are realistically portrayed. So when the ILYs are expressed and the HEA arrives, it’s truly heartfelt. I’ll definitely read more by this author. 4 ½ stars!FYI – There’s a side blackmail/murder mystery that must be related to the Park Avenue Scandals series, but it’s a very minor part of the story, so I think this works fine as a standalone read.

This was a joy to read. I absolutely loved the conversations, very engaging. I loved that the hero wasn't the usual HP jack-ass and I wish there was more of this kind of hero character instead of jerks with huge egos. The heroine I just adore. Her witty remarks and you-can't-touch-me attitude was simply the best. Yes, her knees went weak when he kissed her but it didn't give her brain the short-circuit usually seen in HP heroines. I guess that is the correct term for this novella, "unusual".The only gripe I have with this story is that it lacked a litte bit of coherence. There were some points throughout that didn't really need to be there and the ending fell a little too flat for me. There was no real conflict and that little bit close to the end was like something that was just thrown in for the hell of it. This novella could have been so much better. But don't get me wrong, I loved reading this and will probably read it again in the future, something I do only for my most favored books.

Millionaire Trent Tanford follows a few rules in life, one of them is his stance on women, always be upfront with what he expects, which is nothing long term. Trent enjoys women, but has no plans of ever making it anything permenant. That is until is father gives him an ultimatum, marry or lose the company he has worked so hard to take over.Carrie Gray has had it with her neighbor, his never ending line of bimbettes who mistakenly knock on her door at all hours of the night has happened one time too many. Deciding to confront the notorious playboy, the last thing she expects is Trent trying to charm her.Trent doesn't know what it is about Carrie, but something about her has him turned upside down. Carrie is not his normal type of woman, but with a need to marry she is looking very much like what he would want in a bride, how can he convince the complex woman that she is the one?I liked this story, thought it was fun, however one key element of the story is just dropped with no finish. I would have rated it higher if it had been resolved. Had some really fun interactions between Trent and Carrie as they realize their relationship is more than a business arrangement.

This was surprisingly good. The focus is on the relationship between Trent and Carrie who fall for each other after marrying for reasons other than love. They click almost instantly as people. They make each other laugh, they do not take themselves seriously but both have trust issues that they resolve after some angst and growing pains. Part of a series set in a New York high profile high rise, the series thing the whole mysterious death and blackmail attempts feels applied on. As a reader I wanted more of atrent and Carrie less blackmail and police investigation.

Trent Tanford is a playboy whose father has given him an ultimatum - find a suitable wife or lose the company he's worked his entire life to run. And so he thinks about the cute, sarcastically funny housesitter neighbor that he's attracted to...she needs money, so why not a contract marriage with her? Before they know it, Trent and Carrie Gray are married and adjusting to living together, dealing with their attraction and learning how to trust somone you love but don't know. This was very sweet and fluffy - not very angsty at all. I liked Trent and I liked that his previous manwhore status didn't keep jumping out in my face. It was very easy to forget his reputation at times. He was very sweet and considerate. Carrie has insecurities and abandonment issues and these put a strain on the relationship. More than anything I was irritated by her lack of spine in one respect: she'd said she wasn't going to sleep with her contract husband because of what that would make her. She didn't even last two days. But she didn't regret it at all. And Trent, surprisingly enough, didn't feel any panic about suddenly having a wife and not being able to kick her out of bed before morning. It was just a little too smooth considering both of their faults. The little drama at the end with the (view spoiler)[ divorce threat(hide spoiler)] didn't really feel right. But it was an enjoyable and very quick read.

The parts that was written were very good and interesting. But I felt like someone was retelling me the short version of the story. It was like huge part of it was missing. For example all there is written about the wedding is place, time and who attended it. Well what about main characters? How did Carrie felt taking vows knowing it was just business arrangement? What did Trent think about Carrie in her wedding dress? Or it was just told, that Trent parents liked his bride. Why? What did they talk about? What was Carries’ impression of them?Or scene where Carrie took Trent to the restaurant. Before she got out, Trent said, “You know that once we step foot in that restaurant you’re going to be scrutinized.”“Head to toe?”“Soup to nuts.”“They’ll want to know everything about Trent Tanford’s new bride?”“Yes,” he said, stepping out of the car and offering her his hand. “And honestly, who could blame them?”They walked hand in hand into one of Manhattan’s finest Italian restaurants. And that’s all we have ever heard about that. The next scene starts already at home after the restaurant. But I wanted to know how Carrie handled all the attention, after all it was her first time going public with her new husband. This book has a potential to be great, but unfortunately because of it shortness and lacking description it is just mildly interesting.

Loved the characters in this story. They were both intelligent, mature people and I love this author's writing style.I'll look for other books by her to see if it's an accident :)Later edit - I actually remembered reading other books by Laura Wright, the Bayou Heat series, so the writing isn't an accident :))

Ahhh. This was a lovely story. I liked reading all about the connection between Carrie and Trent. This was an easy read that made it a fast one, too. The only thing that disappointed was the lack of an epilogue. The conflict was resolved right at the very end of the book so a little bit of extended "happy" would've been greatly appreciated.

3.75I abhor big misunderstandings and this one had it! She should've discussed it with him beforehand; communication is key!!!But great witty dialogue between the couple!

Impossible to suspend disbelief, it was so far fetched I couldn't enjoy it, besides it was terribly boring and mundane too.
