One Cold Night Reviews
I really like this book. The girl is always searching for a "giant" her mom was talking about but the giant turns out to be her dad who has always been watching over her.
Beautiful illustrations tell the mythical tale of Winter in the Native American tradition. I immensely appreciated the artistic expression and simple story.
This is an interesting book, filled with fantastic scenes of nature. The snow woman and the cloud coyotes are fanciful ways to describe the winter's onset. It's a short book and fun to read aloud.
This is a book about the mythical Snow Woman who comes at the first of winter and frosts the ground and stills the streams, and brushes the leaves from the trees. She chases the animals into their winter dens and tucks us all into winter. There wasn't a whole lot to this book, but the wording was pretty. The idea of the story was neat in a way too. I did like the illustrations a lot as well. I could use this book as a read aloud at the beginning of winter, or it would be an easy read for a beginner reader.
