One of the best reads I've ever had. I have bought this book three times after lending it out twice and it never being returned. Lachlan McCulloch tells the story of going undercover to bust a drug ring in Australia. His writing is honest with the right amount of humour and all of his books have been an enjoyable and somewhat eye opening experiences (the streets was fascinating) The Pettingills were a scary bunch and policeman or not he was extremely brave to go undercover in this manner to stop the filth that was occurring.

I read this to try to understand police culture in Melbourne. It's the story of an undercover cop and his life on the streets of this city. I was absolutely horrified (but not exactly surprised) at the criminal way this guy behaved when in pursuit of a bust. He would, and did stoop to anything to get an arrest. He thought of anyone on the other side of the law as nothing but vermin. Things may have changed since the 80s when this guy stalked the streets in his disguise, but I wonder by how much... I hear stories still.. Cringe-worthy

This is a great book. Although an undercover police operation with the Victorian Drug Squad sounds like a heavy deal, this is really lightly written and very amusing in places. You are right there with all the ins & outs of the drug deals & the crooks. I loved it.
