I love to read this book to the kindergarteners just before or after they take a field trip to the Pt. Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington. They love to draw how they will take care of the animals at our school - which is at the top of a hill - a safe distance from flooding or any volcanoes...

Decent illustrations but not as engaging as other recent reads. Easy read for younger kids.Really about 2 1/2 stars.

Leslie and her mother visited the zoo every Saturday. One particular Saturday Leslie asked each animal's keeper if she could take them home. When she was obviously told no Leslie offered to take the animals if anything ever went wrong at the zoo.Well, lo and behold! When the zoo floods each keeper brings their animals to Leslie's house. There are monkeys on the swing set, elephants in the garage, alligators in the bathtub and zebras in the backyard. Not to worry. The rain stops and all animals are returned to the zoo. The house is none the worse for wear but Leslie's mother asks that Leslie warns her next time she invites someone to their house.

This is my 2-year-old's favorite book of the moment. Animal lover Leslie and her mom visit the zoo every Saturday and she is desperate to have the animals live at her house. She tells each of the animal keepers that "if anything ever goes wrong at the zoo," the animals can come stay with her. Well, one day the zoo is flooded, and one by one, the zebras, elephants, monkeys, alligator, ostriches, lion, etc., do come to stay at Leslie's house. Charming!

My 4 year old and seven year old love this book. It is about a little girl who lives close to the zoo and visits weekly. She tells the animal keepers that if anything ever goes wrong they can bring the animals to her house. And, what do you know, they take her up on it. This is a story that really sparks the imagination.

This is a great animal oriented book that uses repetition to drive the story. The watercolor illustrations bring the animals to life on the page and add humor to the text. Even though the story ends on a high note, it manages to reinforce the principle of communicating and asking permission before decisions are made.

Cute story about a girl who offers to house the animals if anything ever goes wrong at the zoo. Of course, something goes wrong and the zoo keepers take the girl up on her offer. Could link to a fun creative writing activity where students imagine what their house would be like if a wild animal came to visit.

This book was really sweet. I love how the little girl offered a place for the animals to stay if anything were to happen at the zoo. I definitely wasn't expecting the book to end like it did. That being said I really liked it.

This book is so cute! I adored reading this book. Everything about it completely relates to a younger child and their imagination.
