Read I Heard a Little Baa by Elizabeth MacLeod Louise Phillips Online

Who makes a little growl and is hiding under the flap? Could that shaggy paw belong to a bear? A dog? A cat? Young children love to mimic animal sounds and play guessing games. They'll do both in this delightful picture book. The playful verse and cheery illustrations invite children to growl, purr, squeak and giggle all the way to the surprise ending....

This is a wonderfully engaging story for young children. Rhyming lines encourage Phonological Awareness, deductive reasoning and sounds encourage Print Motivation, and the "guess who" style of the book encourages dialogic reading. You can talk about the characteristics of each type of animal and use those clues to determine what animal you will find behind the flap. Fun and engaging!

I used this lift-the-flap story as the last story of a sheep-themed bilingual story time program. The kids had fun guessing which animal is hidden under the flap (the pictures around/on the flaps show some clues) and then making the animal sound of that specific animal.

This is a fun book to read with a little one. Let them turn the pages. Let them finish the rhyme by saying what the animal is. We read this over and over again to reinforce the animal names (and my little 2 year old is STILL convinced that I am wrong and the worm is a snake). Very cute book.

A lift the flap book about different animals and the sounds they make. There is always a tiny part of the animal visible before the flap is lifted which gives a hint. Great for story time especially the younger ones. There are quit a few animals and it could be shortened with just using a couple.

Great book for kids to guess the animals. I just wish the "me" was a little more inclusive.

Finding a book that my 9-month-old will actually let me finish reading cover to cover is hard. This one actually manages to hold his attention and even sometimes elicits a giggle. :)
