This book was sorta X-rated if you catch my drift. It had a good story, but some of the scenes were kinda over the top. Overall though, i really liked it. It was sweet and Seth was really caring. I think he was the perfect guy for her. He was very understanding and caring towards her. Not to mention potective. But i think they were meant for each other from the start of the book. I do suggest reading it, i just have a WARNING. It's X-rated. Most DEFINITLY. So, if you're suggesting it to someone, be careful who it's to. And you may want to reconsider it yourself too.

OK. I was bored very much of the beginning of the book, which is probably why it took me SO long to get through. I didn't understand Billy's fascination with Mark. I half understood her aversion to getting involved with Seth again. There just seemed to be so many story threads, and maybe I just didn't care about any of them. Near the end, it finally picked up, but that's mostly because we were finally seeing the end to all the threads. This was a freebie, but I'm not sure I would try another from this author on purpose.

Another great chick lit book. It was set in Massachusetts as well, so it was fun to see which landmarks and roadways the author would write about. A light read, but a great story with a female lead who struggles with love and doesn't know what to do when her ex suddenly reappears in her life.

I didn't really care for the murder mystery plot. It was a little far fetched for me that's why I gave it a three. However, I DID enjoy both main characters and like them from start to end.

This book was great! Clever, witty, and sassy. And the mystery plot was good too. Beware...there's definitely a lot of sex in this book.

I couldn't decide to give it a 1 for "did not like" or a 2 for "it was okay". For me it was in the middle of those two, though I think I would prefer to rate it as "lame" and a 0 when I think more about it. I see others have rated this book all over the place from a 1 to a 5. I can't imagine rating this book a 5. I mean this was a beachy book. No beach book should be classified as a 5. This story is a mixture of love, erotic sex, and a mystery thrown in for good measure. Billy, the main character spends most of the novel convincing herself that she needs to be in a safe relationship with Mark, a man she has no feelings for, even though she's hot for her ex, Seth. That just about drove me nuts. As for the erotic sex scenes, the first time I encountered a scene, I was quite surprised as I wasn't expecting it. It was like it came out of no where with a ho hum story and then bam, lots of detail about the lovemaking. Actually I think the sex scenes were the best part of the story and Jill Winters' writing, and definitely, far superior to the horrible over-rated sex scenes in Fifty Shades of Grey series. Then there's the mystery thrown, which seemed like it was an after thought to add to the story. Another surprise and seemed to come out of no where was the "x" rated language. It isn't something I really expect in a light reading book.Raspberry Crush is the drink Billy drinks. I've never heard of it, so I Google it, and it looks delicious. I've printed out the recipe and I plan on making it this summer. So reading this "lame" book could very well had been worth it in the end. Cheers!

Billy Cabot is indecisive about her career, her love life, and her family, but she is sure she witnessed a murder. In Raspberry Crush (Billy’s favorite cocktail), Jill Winters creates a light hearted tale about a young-ish woman who is forced to reinvent her life after she is “downsized” from her “Phi Beta Kappa college graduate” worthy position in the corporate world. The story unfolds with Billy Cabot working in a small bakery as a cake decorator after losing her job as a Graphics Designer. Her motley co-workers, comfortable yet passionless boyfriend, and tension-free lifestyle have lulled her into stagnation. That is until her ex-boyfriend comes back to town. Suddenly, Billy is thrown head first into a sexual whirlwind that compels her to reevaluate her boyfriend and her choices in life. And just when she thinks she has a handle on things, a man dies in a suspicious manner at the Dessert Jubilee Billy and Bella Donna Bakery catered.Jill Winters creates an upbeat and highly erotic story that keeps the reader engrossed and titillated. Aside from a couple grammatical errors in the printing, this book is fun to read, especially with a friend! Pour a cocktail and join Jill Winters in a Raspberry Crush.

That's several hours in my life I will never have back. I needed it for a reading challenge and it looked fun, but whoever coined the term "formulaic" must have had this book in mind. The sex was awkwardly written and not erotic at all. The plot was just asinine: is it a mystery? romance? chick lit? Who knows? I love a light chick lit romance as much as anyone, and really needed something good following an amazing but intense read. This was not it.

Raspberry Crush was a boring read with crappy dialogue, very little substance, undeniable chemistry (with steamy love scenes!), a dismal, uninteresting mystery, and poor execution in a storyline and plot. It was weak in a lot of areas which made the book dull and lifeless. Billy was too weak, generous, forgiving and vulnerable, which kind of gave the novel a Harlequin feel. None of the secondary characters were likable either. This is not recommended. 2/5 stars.

What a fun light read! Billy and Seth were pretty realistic. I liked the view points from both sides. Seth was hot and also a nice guy. I liked how strong Billy was and enjoyed the attraction between the two. Plenty of twists and turns in the mystery and not too much angst. A nice break from YA and dramas. My biggest wow was how hot Seth was portrayed. I also liked their friendship... you could see them as two buddies sneaking around getting in trouble together... lots of fun.

I can't get into it that much so far... hopefully I will soon. Ok, I finally (!!!) finished this book. It was ok. It was an entertaining book, although it was actually pretty stupid. Also, at times, I felt as though I were reading a soft core porn. There were some sexual parts that served no purpose, really. I think the author is kinda horny. Ha! Anyway, this was ok, maybe a 3 out of 10. Maybe. I'm glad I only paid $1 for it. :)

The reviews on this one are all over the map and it's easy to see why. From the start the book doesn't know if it is a mystery, a romance or erotica. The sex scenes fizzle, there is a lack of good dialogue and I wasn't overwhelming interested in any of the characters. The best bits involved Billy's art because it's when we saw her most herself. In the end a bit too all over the place for, it never really found its footing.

Plot twists are lame. I felt like I was ready a dirty romance novel with Fabio on the cover instead of chick lit--I can't even count how many pages I only skimmed through to get past. If that's what you're looking for to read while on the beach, I guess it's not terrible. Wait, yes it is, it was an unimaginative book with lame plot twists. Even the pastry descriptions were just meh.

It was a lighthearted romance and a bit quirky and funny. Although it was a good book, with a good story line, but goodness, it was sexually explicit! Also it was actually pretty stupid. Because at times, I felt as though I were reading a soft core porn. There were some sexual parts that served no purpose, really. I think the author is kinda horny. HA! 3 out of 5! Lol! =))

It was a good book, with a good story line, but OMGosh was it sexually explicit. I had read the reviews warning about this, but even so I was not prepared for the extreme detail. I will not be reading this author again, she needs to learn to leave a few things to the readers imagination.

The scenes in the book were wayyyy too mature for the style of writing. It had a lot of sexual scenes that were not needed. I felt like I was reading a YA book with X rated themes. Just did not mesh well for me. Other than that the story line was ok I guess.

A free pick from Amazon. Chick lit -not great. Not good enough for true romance, not good enough for a mystery. A fast, light, fluffy read to pass time, although I wish I had spent time reading something else.

It was a lighthearted romance and very fun. A bit quirky and funny. The only thing that kept distracting me was that the author basically used the same descriptions for certain situations over and over, which became a bit annoying. Generally, a nice beach read.

I can't even say why, necessarily, but I really liked this book. Crazy peripheral characters and a bit of exasperation at the main character's choices sometimes, but still very good and enjoyable.
