As usual, I couldn't resist the book section at the store. I already have many books at home to read but like to checkout the latest, especially looking for any new books that are out by my favorite authors. If there's a cowboy on the cover or mention of one in the title that always catches my eye as well. To be honest, many of the "Harlequin" and "Steeple Hill" books are basically the same.HER LONE COWBOY caught my eye because of the cover and the title. As I often do, I started to read the first few pages. They're typically the same, so I often put them back down knowing I have far too many books waiting to be read at home. Not so with this one. This cowboy had lost an arm. Not your typical storyline. And from the few pages I had read, it was well written. I couldn't put it back. I had to know how the author handled such a storyline. In only a day and a half I had completed HER LONE COWBOY. This was my first read by this author, and I'll be looking for her books in the future. The book was very well written with an original storyline. I also loved how the author kept it clean. Very refreshing. I quickly fell in love with Noah, as well as love Lily's character. Many great lines, and never a dull moment.

This book was a little too cheesy for me. A Canadian vet who lost his arm (and has some horrific scars) in Afghanistan meets a sweet girl, burned in a prior relationship, who tries to draw the vet out of his shell but also tries to keep any kind of permanent relationship from developing. The story was nice but maybe just a tad too sweet.

So it's a given that I will love a book that has cowboys in because lets face it cowboys are totally LUSH but even if this story had not had cowboy's in it I would still have loved it. The characters were all amazing and I really enjoyed reading both character POV'S and hearing about Noah's story.

It is nice if you are looking for a sweet Christian Romance. It just isn’t very memorable.

I don't read contemporaries very much, and I read category romance even less. It's not a conscious thing really - I am drawn to historicals - but I am soooo glad I picked this one up. (And go back and find everything else this author's ever written). This story is about fear, insecurity, and coming to terms with the ghosts of an imperfect past. The hero is a Canadian soldier, back home in Alberta after losing his arm in Afghanistan. The heroine is a school teacher who settled in the same town, running from memories and commitment. The romance is tenative and tender, but not a word is wasted, and Donna Alward is great with words. There were a few lines I just had to read over because of how lovely they were. While all romances have a trace of fantasy in them, her characters are real people to me,not an ounce of melodrama to be found. This book reminded be of one of those bittersweet old-fashioned country songs on a Saturday morning - relaxed, gentle, and just good for the soul. If you're looking for that kind of read, you've found it in this book. It's a keeper.

Well, not much to say there. It's a Harlequin novel, so there's a few silly lines to be expected and it's heavy on traditional roles (but if that puts you off you won't enjoy Harlequins at all). With Donna it's as usual lightened up with relatable, realistic feeling characters.A favourite part of the story is that her characters are not the Romance usual "I'm sexually attracted it therefore must be love" types, but adults that are capable of reasoning that sexual attraction and love are not one and the same.Alone for that I would be willing to give the story four stars, it's also a really sweet read with a troubled hero and a cautious heroine. For the amount of pages the Harlequin format offers her Donna always delivers marvelously rounded stories with satisfying happy ends.

This is the second book in Alward's Larch Valley duet. I enjoyed the first one, though the end did leave me feeling a little unsettled, and I have to say it was the same for this one.I really enjoyed this story, right up until the end. Then I was frustrated with Lily for pushing Noah away. But at the end of it, I couldn't really blame her for having done so. Neither of them really gave all they could to the relationship, and therefore neither was solely responsible for the way things turned out. I'm still trying to decide my overall feelings.

The second in the Laramie Brothers series, Her Lone Cowboy is about Noah Laramie, an officer injured and returning home to heal and decide what direction his life is going to take next. He's gruff and prickly, although that doesn't put off Lily Germaine, who's agreed to give him a hand as a favor to her best friend, Jen, who's engaged to Noah's brother.I really liked Lily and Noah's characters--very nicely drawn, Ms. Alward! The story as a whole flowed well, and it was a great read.

For me it was to great! A great love story!(Maybe because part of me REALLY like an army and Noah character ; a very stubborn army who has to deal with difficulty through his sadnest past time and from his injury)Lily is such a good person for me. And she is brave too ; to deal with Noah. Both of them mostly has a very common thing (a problem act) So it just nice to read their story and know their ending. And i still can't get it out from my head. :D

This was a great story and deserves more than 5 stars. It is the story of a wounded veteran who comes back to his hometown after losing one arm. He has an embittered attitude toward everyone. When an upbeat young woman delivers groceries to him and offers her assistance, he snarls at her but she just smiles. She has problems from the past too but is willing to do what it takes to help him. Together they face their problems and find a future together.

This is a quick, but beautiful contemporary romance that definitely tugs at the heart. Norah Laramie is a wounded warrior recently home from Afghanistan and is learning to live with the possible change in his career choice, but also the limitations of his injuries. Lily Germaine is a young woman who teaches at the local high school. When her best friend, Jen, asks her for a favor she had no idea how her life would suddenly change.

WONDERFUL!This story really examines the effect of doubts on relationships in an effort to protect ones self. also, the idea of commitment, both to someone and to something was delved into. great story for feelings.

Maybe a bit more like 3.75 stars. Though the story spanned around six weeks, it didn't really feel quite that long.
