A Brazen Love Worth Fighting For Reviews

The promise that each Brazen sister would get her own book was exciting. Unfortunately, the story fell flat, the characters were caricatures and the editing was appalling. The setup is that Jessie wants to divorce Victor after a three year separation. Once I got into the story, I just kept wanting to bang my head on something because they were married for about a month (maybe a little longer) then Victor goes overseas for a job assignment. They stay in touch by letter. What? Haven’t they heard of a phone, the internet, satellite cell phones? Well, yes, in fact, Victor has a satellite cell phone. So why didn’t he use it for 3 YEARS?! Also, if Victor was able to fly to the job, couldn’t he take a vacation every so often to go see his wife? What employer doesn’t allow ANY vacation time? And about that, Victor is suddenly free of the job contract and he rushes to Jessie’s side. Of course, she had to mail him divorce papers first. Hmmm, I don’t see much hope for this couple in the long term. Jessie and Victor got married in the small town where Jessie lives. The only person who has “found out” about the marriage is the sheriff because he has access to public records. Wow! Now let me talk about the typos and editing issues. They are numerous. I have put a couple of examples at the bottom of this review. Every single page was a lesson in how not to edit a book. After the first 20 or so pages, I stopped marking errors because there were so many. If I had paid the $13.50 cover price for this book, I would be mad. As it is, I am frustrated because this story had real possibility but it fell short of its potential. I do not intend to read any more books from this series.Quotes (if you see a typo, it is how it appears in the book):She reached in a tossed a pair of shorts and a tank top onto the bed behind her. Page 32Clayton may have had seen a little something and helped them to develop it. Page 75Manipulation, bribery, and now spying. Was there anything she wouldn’t make him stoop to trying? Page 119 (I include this quote because it really irked me. Victor is accusing Jessie of forcing him to do bad things. However, Victor is doing the aforementioned things TO Jessie not on Jessie’s command. This sentence should have been reworked to show Victor’s desperation. After reading that one line, I truly didn’t like Victor because it revealed him to be a whiner and the type to place blame on others.)“Okay, you don’t want to tell us what’s going on, we’ll figure it out on are own.” Page 166 Rating: 1 out of 5Book received: free at a book conference
This is a very enjoyable book that revolves around six extremely close sisters. These women are very independent and would do anything to see that they remain a close knit thriving family. Jessica, the oldest of the Brazen women in an impulsive act got married. Her husbands job took him to another country for three years, without her. Jessica had to stay with her sisters. She’s the backbone of the family and she has to see that the younger sisters are raised properly. Jessica and her sisters have a family business to run. It takes all six women doing their own part to see that they prosper. Jessica doesn’t see where there is any room for a husband in this and writes Victor asking for a divorce.Victor is back home from the job that took him away for three years and is ready to work things out with the wife that he is very much still in love with. He knows there is more to the divorce demand than Jessica is telling him. He’s decided to do anything and everything possible to prove to Jessica that he still loves her, still wants her, and will never leave her again. The only problem is she is hiding something and won’t let him in. These two are very persistent in trying to get what they want. Jessica wants the divorce papers signed and Victor on the road out of town NOW! Victor wants his wife to give up on these ridiculous divorce notions and start confiding in him so that he can perform his role as a husband and start taking care of her. These sisters are great. I really felt a tight sisterly bond between them. They sacrifice so much to see that each are happy. They’ve been taking care of each other for so long that they have difficulties letting anyone in. I will definitely continue this series. I’m looking forward to Bobbie’s book. If she is giving Jake this much hell this early in the series I can only imagine what their book will be.
Loved it!! I also just finished book 2 and that one was great as well :-)This first book deals with a second chance at love, and shows you just how far a man will go for a woman he knows is the one. Also really liked that his reason for having originally left was not based on betrayal, or because he was just being selfish/scared of the commitment. You'll have to read it to find out why!! This book has it all. Hot sexiness, great secondary love stories (one is the couple in book 2), and humor! I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series! The rest of the stories of these six sisters are sure to be fantastic!
I really hated that the bear got killed, I thought it wascute and curious...then it got shot. Heroine was also tstl and her fears got dragged out...so why the 3 stars? I liked the hero and the sisters, the writing was ok too. The build up for the second book was also good.
The editing was very unfortunate. The story had some serious continuity issues that really threw me out of the story. A better editor would have made it a much better read.
