I would give this a 3.5. I enjoyed the characters and the story. Alec is the high-powered executive who is afraid to trust that someone will love him just for him and not for what he can give her (as his ex did). Kelsie is a divorced mother of two trying to hold things together and afraid to trust someone to be there for the long haul. She feels she depended on her first husband and when he left her, she was crushed . . . and scared and alone; she'll do anything to keep from feeling that way. I enjoyed watching the two learn to trust in each other. I wish the kids had played a slightly bigger role in the story. Kelsie's son was distrusting of (and rude to Alec) but once Alec won him over, the kids weren't even mentioned again. I felt a little like they were such stumbling blocks to her dating and then they just weren't a part of it. But then again, maybe that was just one of the challenges and once it was overcome, it didn't need to be there to move the story along. Hoag did surprise me with the ending; the breakup and ultimate happily ever after (both expected in a romance) were not done in the ways I expected and that was a nice surprise. This is one of her older books, and though a few things were obviously 1980s, I felt the story itself held up well.

Boring. Predictable . Nothing like her crime books which keep you guessing as to the outcome

This is a very early romance by, now, heavy mystery writer, Tami Hoag. I love her early romances. They are fun, romantic, and sexy. McKnight in Shining Armor also has a very real plot and tells a tale of a guy, Alec who loves to rescue the damsel in distress. Kelsie is the single mom of 2 damsel in distress. The last thing (and most important thing) she needs in her stressed life is a guy and a relationship.Kelsie's ex left her with very low self esteem. She built herself by starting her own business and making ends meet as best she could. She also joined every charitable group she had an interest in and made herself important to them. When Alec comes along and they fall in love, Kelsie almost looses him because she cannot give up the other activities in order to make room for Alec in her life.

McKnight in Shining Armour is the first stand-alone romance novel under the Loveswept banner by American author, Tami Hoag. Since her divorce, Kelsie Connors has become a one-woman whirlwind: raising her two children, volunteering for charities and running a business. she had no time or inclination for romance, especially if it leads to depending on a man again. But when she takes a chimp in to audition for an account at Alec McKnight’s office, as well as almost wrecking his office, she attracts the amorous attentions of this gorgeous blue-eyed hunk of man. Alec has just exited an unsuccessful marriage, but he soon realises that Kelsie is the woman for him. This romance has plenty of laughs with its almost slapstick action, as well as a few lump-in-the-throat moments and, of course, a happy ending. A fun read.

Not a bad read. There were some real comical moments and this kept me interested. I didn't really care for Kelsie and her lifestyle...just not my cup of tea really. And I really struggled trying to see Kelsie and Alec together. Okay so they had some great chemistry, but I don't think their lifestyle's meshed very well or that they had common interests at all. Toward the end of the book I was trying to imagine how things would go if they ever moved in together - this guy is a complete neat freak with just a hint of OCD and she's complete chaos. This does not seem likely to work out and I couldn't help thinking that a HEA was just not feasible...even if the book suggests it is. The characters did not change or grow enough over the course of the book to really overcome these differences.

Book Description:A young divorced woman, Kelsie Connors, has two children to raise while holding down two VERY unusual jobs. She's trying to be the complete Superwoman when she meets Alec McKnight. Their first encounter, while hilarious, holds the potential for disaster... as black lace lingerie flies through the air of the conservative advertising executive's office. But Alec is enchanted, not enraged -- and then Kelsie has to wonder if the "disaster" isn't what he's done to her heart. This is the 2nd book I have read by Ms. Hoag. I enjoyed this quick read as much as the first book "The Trouble with JJ." It was a light read and a great storyline. I had a smile on my face in many parts of this book. Happy Reading!

The cover of this book shows a tall and dark man sweeping a petite blond into his arms. The spine contains both raised, shiny writing and a bright red heart. There's no secondary characters, no plot twists and no literary allusions - this book is the novel equivalent of a giant block of Cadbury Dairy Milk (very sweet, creamy, bland and consistent). The book gets the job done and delivers what it promises to with no alarms and no surprises. I won't remember the title in two days times but at the end of a long, tiring, stressful day I was able to switch off for the one hour and twenty minutes it took for me to read 200ish double-spaces pages, relax and let the stressors of the day go.

If this was your first Tami Hoag book, don't give up reading. This is a reprint of an old book and it was a fluff romance that didn't contain the depth of her later books. A divorced mom struggles with a business that gets animals for advertisements. When she meets McKnight he is instantly attracted to her. I couldn't see why. He is so determined and I didn't get the attraction. Both characters have trust issues. There is some humor with kids, animals and poor timing with makeout sessions. Meh.

The title caught my eye, but even still I started to put the book back on the shelf because I assumed it was a historical fiction, which I'm just not into. I was pleased to realize I was wrong. Alec McKnight is a modern day knight in shining armor. From first meeting he knows Kelsie Connors needs rescuing, and he wants to be the McKnight to rescue her. Try as she may Kelsie can't seem to resist Alec's charms. Fun and romantic. Hot and steamy at times.

A cute little romance story. Kelsie Connors is an animal agent for advertising clients. She's also, a divorced mother of two, an over extender when it comes to committees, and her two jobs to try to make ends meet. Into her life comes Alexander McKnight as the advertising executive that she needs to convince to use a chimp in one of his best clients ads. There seems to be disaster at each turn but nothing can keep Alex from his desire for Kelsie.

This was one of Tami Hoag's first books, written in 1988, a bit of romantic fluff that was surprisingly well written for the genre. The characters were very likable and there was a lot of humor and quirky situations. The heroine is the ubiquitous single mom struggling to make ends meet doing lingerie parties and running an animal talent agency. As I read I was wishing that Tami included a bit more of her humor into her suspenseful current novels.

Almost done this book and my best advice is that Ms. Hoag stick to her mystery/thriller genre. To be fair, this book was written in 1988 before she found her niche, but I really expected more. I'm not much of a romance reader anymore unless it is a secondary plotline, but really? They fall in love and tell each other in like 5 days? Really?!?Yeesh, I'm going to struggle through the last 20 pages and move on.

I downloaded this book on my ereader because I've read Tami Hoag's suspense novels before and found them to be good. I was disappointed to realize that this would be a romance novel. I figured it would be an easy beach read - There are a few humorous sections, but there was nothing original here. The characters and plot are predictable. From a suspense writer, I was hoping for a little more drama and intrigue.

This a reprint of an earlier work by Tami Hoag. I felt like this was a 3 1/2 star read, I did enjoy the story line overwork stressed out mother with too many things on her plate and the rich handsome knight in shining armor swoops in to save the day.The thing that bother me the most were the typos, the H's name was Alexander McKnight but for some reason whenever his nickname is used it appears as Alec.

Tami Hoag's McKnight in Shining Armor explores the development of a relationship between handsome Alex McKnight and Kelsie Connors who is a single mother, struggling business owner, and busy volunteer at many charity organizations. Kelsie and Alec's relationship must overcome many obstacles as well as personal growth in order to blossom. I thought that this was a nice story and was a very quick read.

I will not go out of my way to read another romance by Tami Hoag. There was nothing wrong with this book, it was a basic contemporary romance. However, I want more than sex in my romances. I want to care about the characters and no one in this book made me care. I gather Hoag has become a good thriller writer and so her earlier books are being reprinted. Sometimes these reprints are not a blessing and for me, that is true with this book.

I guess I'm a sucker for romantic romps where the guys is too good to be believed. The situations are comical and the woman is stressed to the max. What woman in her right mind wouldn't want a perfect stranger to zip down and try his best to make things better. It's fantasy people. Takes us from our dulldrums and lifts us to the realm of impossible.

The original Loveswept romances are like a breath of fresh air. They are sweet simple romantic stories with a some fun and humor.

This is your basic small romance book. There were several funny parts. The main male character got a little too pushy for my taste. But overall not a bad read.
