The Lemon Garden Reviews
I liked this mystery, which is set in Italy in the 1980's. The main character is an actress who has been in an accident and has lost her memory. Her amnesia is very problematic, because she does not know who to trust, and does not recognize anyone or remember anything from before her accident. As the story unfolds, she knows that there are a lot of things that people are not telling her, and that there are also some deep dark secret and tragic things which she must figure out. She must also do that before the people who are trying to kill her succeed. The book doesn't read really quickly, but that is okay because it is very atmospheric, which would be lost if it were to be read very quickly.
While I did think the book was well-written, in general, I had a hard time with the believability of the plot and I thought the ending was absurd. It wasn't really romantic suspense to me because there was very little romance and yet it wasn't quite a cozy mystery either, so rather hard to categorize. I had this book a long time and am glad it is finally read even if it did not live up to my expectations.
