I was drawn to the first book of the Drake Chronicles because of its shiny cover and the intriguing title. Whenever I choose a book based on those two things alone, I end up disappointed. However, My Love Lies Bleeding won me over with its amusing characters, fast pacing, hilarious moments and not a single love triangle in sight. It was a highly entertaining, feel-good story that surprised me and made me laugh and I instantly became a huge fan of the series. Drake Chronicles revolve around a royal vampire family and their human friends. Every book focuses on a different Drake brother and is told from multiple POVs. These books are essentially young adult paranormal romances, but unlike so many PNRs, they have great plots, lots of action, a large number of well-built secondary characters and an abundance of delightful, accessible humor.Bleeding Hearts is the fourth book of the series and it focuses on Connor Drake and Lucy’s cousin Christabel who came to live with Lucy and her parents when her mother went into rehab. Ever since Helena Drake became the queen, the family has been under constant attack from their political enemies, and of course, the blue-skinned and vicious Hel-Blar vampires. In addition, Solange is still struggling with the fact that she’s becoming a different kind of vampire, one that has never been seen before and she’s allowing herself to be influenced by some morally impaired royals as a result. Lucy keeps being pushed away for her own protection, but she fights back every single time with Nicholas as her ally. I’d missed Lucy horribly in the last two books and it was great to see things through her eyes once again. Nothing is quite the same without her stubbornness and sense of humor. Connor is not my favorite Drake, but he’s not far behind either, and after a while, even Christabel became likeable, despite her infatuation with Mr. Darcy. I had every intention of giving this book four stars, but when I reached the last page and saw that it ends with a cliffhanger, I took one star off my rating.

I absolutely adore this series!I’ve been in a reading slump and I just knew the Drake boys would help get me out of it and they did.If you like vampires you will like this series, if you are sooo over vampires you still might like this series. The thing about these novels that make them one of my favorites isn’t because they are about “vampires.” It’s because of the characters in this novel and the story. Sure they may be a vampire by character trait, but just try not to be charmed by the Drake brothers and their baby sister Solange. Try not to be impressed by Lucy and her witty remarks and stubborn nature. I just know that other people will love these characters as much as I do.I also love the story! The main plot arc just keeps getting better and better. I feel as though this novel is prominently character driven, yet the story still hypnotizes me every time too!I was thrilled that we still got plenty of Nicholas and Lucy in this one, even though this was Christabel & Connor’s story. Lucy and Nicholas are my favorite, though Christabel is pretty awesome, I mean the girl loves to read! How can I not automatically love her?My only complaint about this novel, was Solange. What the heck happened to her? She was so not the character that I’ve enjoyed in the previous novels and am really excited to see where that is going! Can’t wait for me!

I’ve always been a huge fan of Alexandra Harvey’s work and The Drake Chronicle series is one of my favourites. As you can all tell, we’re now on book 4 and usually you would expect the series to lose the excitement that it had when it first started, well this is not the case with this series. This series is just as exciting, dangerous and thrilling as ever and it just keeps getting better and better! In Bleeding Hearts the story is told from Lucy’s, Christabel’s & Conner’s point of view. Christabel is now living with Lucy because her mother is in rehab. While she’s there, Lucy tells her the town is run by a dangerous gang, rather than explaining that it’s actually full of Vampires. Christabel doesn’t believe Lucy’s story until she is kidnapped by mistake by the new leader of the Hel-Blar. Lucky for her, Connor Drake comes to her rescue but it only leads to more a dangerous situation. Can Connor save Christabel in time? I loved it! Alyxandra Harvey has done it again with her awesome and dangerous storyline that leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat. With fast paced, exciting and thrilling scenes that can only leave you wanting more. I’ll admit I was a little bit hesitant when I found out a new character was going to be introduced especially Lucy’s cousin. I expected Christabel to be an older, bratty cousin and boy was I surprised. She was actually a down to earth girl who loves reading and I think she was a great addition to the story. Then we see Lucy, who I’ve always loved. And she was just as great as ever. Feisty, determined and strong and I have to say I think she made the right choices in the end. I did feel sorry for her when she felt she was losing her family but I’m glad she had Nicholas’s support to help her get through it. Then finally we have Connor. Come on, who’s not going to like another Drake brother? Connor was just as lovable as his brothers and I loved how protective he was of Christabel. Although I feel there weren’t as many romantic scenes with them as a couple compared to the previous books, I still really enjoyed their relationship and it took a few interesting and unexpected turns. I felt this time around this book was more centred on the story of the Hel-Blar and Drake family and it’s nice to see the story slowly develop right in front of your eyes. I honestly, have no idea what is going to happen next and Alyxandra did throw some shocking curve balls in the story. I have to say as much as I loved this book, I’m still not sure how I feel about Solange’s development as a character. She was the character that most shocked me during trough-out this story and I’m eager to find out what will happen next. Overall, Bleeding Hearts is a fantastic addition to the Drake Chronicles. If Alyxandra Harvey keeps knocking out books as good as these, then you guys won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t read this series, I suggest you do. Because it’s not one you want to miss out on.Thank you to Bloomsbury UK for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

Probably my least favorite in this series, though still enjoyable. I really wished we saw more of Quinn and Hunter together because they are my favorite couple in this series.Hopefully we see them in the last two the same room...being cute. And can you say cliffhanger?

Gawd I love these books!!So much fun and excitement and I adore every single one of these characters. This was probably my favorite...well there all my fav but I loved this one the most. Mainly cause Lucy and Nicholas are one of my most beloved couples. Evah! They are so adorable and Harvey gave us a lot of really great moments between them.Love where the story-line is going. I can't wait for more. I swear I never want these books to end!NEXT!!

Source: I own a copy of this book.Note: These are my personal opinions. I received no outside person comments or opinions.Let me first start off by saying that I had a hard time liking these new characters--especially the instalove that occurred between Connor and Christabel. And Lucy was a little whiny. But I loved all the romance between Nicholas and Lucy. Christabel was a really hard character to like. She had no character development. She was the damsel in distress. And then she gets turned into a vampire. Seriously. Where is our strong female heroine that we've had throughout the last three books?Plot Summary:Christabel is mistaken for Lucy and kidnapped by the Hel Blar Vampires. They take her hoping it will get the attention of the Drakes and get them a seat on the Council. Well, it gets the attention of one Drake in particular: Connor. He rushes off to save her and in the end gets taken as hostage himself. But all the while, Solage is battling something of her own. She is using humans as blood whores and is totally distant with Lucy--even ordering her out of her house and using her boy friend against her.My Reaction:I thought this book lagged on in some parts. It was really hard to get through this book. I actually set it aside and read (and finished) another book then returned to this one. With the last three books being so stellar I was expecting the same from this one. However, I was disappointed. Overall, There are good and bad things about binge reading a series. Good thing is never having to wait for a book. Bad thing is being disappointed like this when expectations are so high.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban FantasyWhat has consistently been so fun about The Drake Chronicles is the smart and clever dialogue combined with the shifting romances between the various members of the Drake family. Unfortunately, BLEEDING HEARTS isn’t quite up to scratch compared to the rest of this series. In the fourth installment, of the three character POVs (which included Lucy, Connor, and Christabel) not one of them really captured my attention, least of all the newly introduced Christabel, one half of the primary couple. Christabel is an ignorant human sent to live with her cousin (and Drake family confidant), Lucy. She’s obsessed with dead literary icons and shuns most human interaction preferring instead to lose herself in a classic novel. Normally, I love reading about obsessively bookish characters since they are so relatable for me, but in Christabel’s case, her entire character felt like a bunch of randomly chosen quirks and characteristics cobbled together to fit a specific plot. Why does she only like bad boys? The only reason I could discern was to make the inevitable romance with nice and nerdy Connor feel like it had an actual obstacle to over come (it didn’t). She never felt real, or even really likable. In addition to the two dimensional Christabel, even the various characters from previous books fell flat. Lucy has been this fun, snarky presence that popped in and kept the Drakes from being too surly or brooding. She kept things light and easy. Or she used too. In BLEEDING HEARTS, she was just demanding and precocious (not even a little cute on a sixteen year old). Every chapter from her POV seemed to drag with annoying perkiness and obnoxious pushiness. Not at all the character I remember.Worse still was the redundancy due to the shifting POVs. Something would happen, then as often as not, I’d have to read about the exact same scene from two other character perspectives. It made the whole story unbelievably slow and boring. I almost gave up a number of times, but it was only my fondness for the previous books that kept me reading. After being so disappointment this time, I’m on the fence about picking up the next book in The Drake Chronicles series which is tentatively titled BLOOD MOON and, according to the author’s website, the POVs are Solange, Lucy and Nicholas.Sexual Content:Kissing

I read this all in one go, I didn't even get to mark it as currently reading.Loved it, another fantastic novel from Alyxandra Harvey. There was plenty of Nicholas and Lucy, (WOOOO jumps in happiness and grins stupidly) I really enjoyed meeting Lucy's cousin and enjoyed the relationship that formed between her and Connor.Loved the Nicholas scene where he is outside her room :) I'm so glad they featured in this book, I missed them dearly.Oh and I missed Solange, I really want to know what is going on with her, the ending was very unexpected. Can't wait for the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

3,98 stars.I usually give 4 stars to each Drake Chronicles installment for several reasons, despite the fun humor, fast pace and cool worldbuilding. The main reason - the female protagonists are always much more fully-fleshed than the male ones. With this book, there was also ANOTHER problem - Connor was even more left behind as a character BECAAAAUSEEEE we just had to have Lucy's POV in here, i.e. her moping about Solange and her parents, and cheese time with Nicholas.I know I am the ABSOLUTE minority here. Everyone just adores Lucy and gushes about how cute she and Nicholas are. I am probably the sole person in the world who does not. And apparently Alyxandra Harvey gives them the spotlight because of the fandom. Which I totally hate. Not that I hate them, but I don't NEED so much of them and I don't need them to steal other characters' time and space. Alyxandra Harvey has many other awesome characters with so much potential, and instead she chooses an annoying girl who is all like "ZOMG I'M SO KICKASS BUT EVERYONE TREATS ME LIKE A BABYYY, AND WHY DON'T PEOPLE LET ME STICK MY NOSE IN ALL THEIR BUSINESS - I'M SO SPESHUL, AND MY BOYFRIEND IS SO HAWTTT I CANNOT EVEN THINK" and a cliche guy who is basically nothing else than the dream boyfriend to be the center of the story. (Not to mention that their snogging scenes felt a bit repetitive.) Besides, the series' name is The Drake Chronicles, not Lucy Hamilton! Where are the Drakes, then? Solange used to be a favourite of mine, but now with that fangy personality messup of hers things have gotten weird, and I fear that this abrupt character change would not get a plausible explanation in the next books, and the character would be ruined. Because now she is just horrible. And where the fuck did that Constantine guy come from? ((view spoiler)[:Noo, noo, not the love triangle crap... (hide spoiler)])'N'another thing that bugs me a little. Hunter had a gay friend named Jason. Lucy also has a gay friend named Nathan. And they barely have any personality; it looks a bit as if their sole purpose for both of them is to be the kickass girl's gay friend, as if there just HAS to be one. And it looks stupid. At least Nathan had some kind of personality, you know, spiked bleached hair and shit. Of Jason I now remember nothing except he was gay and had once had a crush on Spencer. Also, there was a thing in Christabel's characterization that didn't make sense to me. First she says that she doesn't have a boyfriend and that boys ran away from her, because she looked at them as if they were stupid, and finally states that she hardly needs one at all. Then, towards the end, she tells Connor she did have something with a few boys, mainly physical things - so apparently some boys did NOT run away from her, which leads to a contradiction. And still the book got 3,98 stars, because, if you cut out the Lucy and Nicholas part, the book would be even more awesome than Out for Blood. Seriously, if Connor was better developed, if there was only a little Lucy and the story was longer and more detailed, it would even get a 4,5, thus, a five. Connor might have been my favourite Drake guy, Christabel was awesome as well(I just loved the part when (view spoiler)[she thought Aidan was interesting even though she was her kidnapper, because he was from the 1660s (hide spoiler)]; I would probably have done it, too. Well, I did not approve of her former taste in men :D , but otherwise I could relate to her quite a lot), and what's not to love in a geek boy/bookworm girl ship? I really liked Aidan and Saga, too, and I hope they find their place at the Blood Moon :} (In comparison, Greyhaven and Ms Dailey were a bit shallow as antagonists), and the whole idea of the Na-Foir was cool.I have been warned that the next book will probably disappoint me a lot, because the problems I listed above will deteriorate even further. Still, my curiosity might get the best of me, because I want to now what will happen to Solange - and I am way too attached to the series by now.

Alyxandra Harvey has a hit with the Drake Chronicles.Bleeding Hearts is the fourth novel in the Drake Chronicles (one of my many vampire-based book obsessions). Each book follows one of the Drake children and their adventures and romances. Each book seems to get better compared to the last - in character development, plot and story lines and the romances. It was really nice to see Alyxandra Harvey grow with each book that came out. Knowing that this series came to an end was truly heart breaking, even if this series came to a perfect end. This book changes point of views throughout, which can be distracting if you aren't paying attention but I think it adds more to this novel. I liked seeing the different angles of the plot from each of the characters! This wasn't my favourite book in the series (in fact, it was my least favourite) but it was still an excellent addition. Everyone has their favourite character (*cough* Quinn *cough*) and Conor and Christabel just weren't my favourite. They are still funny, fantastic and nerdy characters in this star line-up cast of characters and their story is absolutely delightful! They just don't measure up in my eyes to some of the others. There are many nerdy references in here, and that touched my nerdy heart. It's always fun when you can actually understand the references - Star Wars, Firefly, etc. Overall, this book is a recommended read from me. It's a cute, romantic vampire novel in an absolutely adorable series that I was and am still obsessed with. Hopefully in the near future I pick up Alyxandra's new books! Five out of five stars.

This and my other reviews can be found at Hearts starts a few months after Out for Blood, in which the blood moon is fast approaching, Lucy is feeling isolated and abandoned by the Drakes and Lucy’s cousin Christabel is coming to townI really liked finding out more about the Hel-Blar and how there society works. I also liked how Lucy is back as a main character and how the past two books has affected as a person. My favourite character in this book is Connor as I totally get his sense of humour and we like similar stuff as him, as in I get the Firefly and Star Wars references and I read fantasy books because the good guys always win like him. However I did not connect with Christabel as while we both like reading, I felt all of her characteristics were not realistic and were only there to create obstacles. I also felt no spark between Connor and Christabel as it did not seem they would like each other that way in real life and this was disappointing as this was the relationship I was looking forward to, however Nicholas and Lucy’s relationship made up for it.This book felt a bit like a middle book and end on a cliff-hanger which will make you itch to pick up Blood Moon straight away. I would recommend this book to all who liked the rest of Harvey’s books.

Bleeding Heartsby Alyxandra HarveyBook: The Drake Chronicles #4Publisher: Bloomsbury ChildrensPub Date:Genre: Young AdultFormat: PrintSource: BorrowedBook Links: Goodreads Amazon Book DepositoryThe Drakes and friends will be tested when an infestation of deadly vampires threatens Violet Hill.Lucy's cousin Christabel has come to live in Violet Hill, and adjusting to the difference between life in a small mountain town and her home in the city is difficult enough. The strict curfew that Lucy's parents enforce is the worst part. Something really dangerous couldn't possibly happen in this tiny town. But Christabel has noticed some mysterious happenings, and it seems like Lucy, her boyfriend Nicholas and his brother Connor are all in on a secret that Christabel doesn't understand—one that seems deadly serious. But when she is kidnapped by the ruthless Hel-Blar vampires, Christabel must cause more and more trouble in Violet Hill, Lucy and Connor finally fill Christabel in on all the undead drama. Together, they must find a way to stamp out the Hel-Blar for good.My Review: After reading this book, I'm back into this series. After reading the last book, I wasn't sure if I would be able to jump back into the series. Right now Lucy is a cool chick who goes to school and happens to be the only human there too. She can kick butt and just happens to be dating one of the Drake boys. Yup, right now all is good, except for the Hel-Blar make their way to Violet Hill and threatens everything. During what was supposed to be a good night on the beach, it ended up being anything but that. Lucy and her cousin Christabel are off to the beach to have a good night. Lucy with her boyfriend and Christabel hopefully without a book. It all goes south when there is an attack. As the story goes on, things begin to heat up. Another Drake boy possibly falling for a human, a kidnapping, secrets revealed. It ended perfectly with you wanting more. I will definitely be diving into the next book soon!

Bleeding Hearts is narrated by Lucy, Connor and Lucy's snotty cousin Christabel, who has come to stay with her. I was really happy to see Lucy telling part of the story again as she is my favourite character in the series!Lucy, her parents and the Drake family are aware that they will be keeping a lot of secrets from Christabel when she arrives in town. The best that they can do is to tell their guest that there is a night curfew because of a serious gang problem in town, which Christabel does not believe for a minute. She's smart enough to know that there is some big secret that is not being shared with her. When she does finally discover the truth, her world is going to change in many ways.I didn't like Christabel in the beginning. She seemed to think that she was smarter and superior to everyone around her, and I did not like her snotty attitude or the way she thought that rules were for everyone except her. Her comments about hick towns and the way she looks down on everybody made me want to scream. I'm not really sure what Connor saw in her. Frankly her one saving grace is that she liked books, even if I didn't like the ones she liked to read! Thankfully, her attitude does change as the book progresses or I would not have enjoyed it much. Solange is the other one that I'm getting tired of. She is being a brat and a bitch to everyone who cares about her, especially Lucy and Kieran and she needs a slap on the butt to set her straight. The Drake family certainly have their problems at the moment. I don't think they have really done enough to work out what is wrong with Solange and solve it. In the last book, she expressed fears about the change having gone wrong in her but everyone kept fobbing her off and didn't seem interested in doing something to help her. THat denial has allowed things to get out of control, as we see by the actions of Solange at the end of this book. You'll need to read it for yourself to see what I'm talking about but it was certainly an interesting cliffhanger! Lucy is also facing up to the possibility of losing her best friend, and is feeling in danger with all the vampires running around, forcing her to consider her future. There are also interesting developments with the Hel-Blar, who have to be one of the most interesting versions of vampires that we have in urban fantasy. They are very scary and very infectious, so you can understand the panic when they get their hands on Christabel, thinking her to be Lucy, so they can negotiate with the Drakes. Yes, because kidnapping someone close to the Drakes is going to put Helena in a really good mood! And that is one Drake that you don't want to get on the wrong side of! However, I found the kidnapping part of the story interesting, and it makes the reader as well as the characters understand that the Hel-Blar are more complex than imagined. I found this a lot more interesting than Solange and her spoiled brat tantrums.I liked this book despite my misgivings over the new character and the twists that were introduced were fascinating. My one big misgiving is the way Solange has changed and I'm not sure I'm going to like that as the series develops.

**Read in October 2011*****Firstly, thank-you to Bloomsbury Australia for sending me a copy to read and review***Alyxandra Harvey creates an exciting new vampire tale with Bleeding Hearts, the 4th book in her fabulous Drake Chronicles! Jump back into the world of the Drake family as they continue to deal with their new position in vampire politics and face new challenges. I simply adore this series and I was excited to begin Connor’s tale. This was is a fun, easy read that you begin and simply devour. It’s a great way to escape from life in general and is a quick read. It’s extremely exciting and is never lacking in action or romance. I must admit I was torn at sometimes with this book. Connor is essentially the Drake brother that we are following and Christabel his love interest, but it focuses very heavily on Lucy. Lucy is first and foremost my fave character in this series. I just love this girl, she rocks. I enjoyed having her front and centre so much, but I felt at times that Christabel and Connor weren’t the main focus enough. Don’t get me wrong I loved it, but I think I would have liked to have seen more of Conner and Christabel. I just don’t think they had enough time dedicated to them, unlike Logan and Quinn’s books where it focuses mainly on them. However Lucy and Nicholas still are my favourite couple even now, so I cannot deny that I ate up every touch, kiss and moment between them. Connor is very different from his twin and I found him very endearingly cute. I liked that he quotes Star Trek and thought about Star Wars often--it made him seem more approachable. And yet there’s no denying that he’s a Drake brother through and through. He breaks into battle in a single moment and fights just like every one of his brothers. I did like Christabel, although I think I was expecting more personality going into this book. I loved that she was tough though and lived her own life. Similar to Connor; she quoted poems during random moments and walked to the beat of her own drum. She wore combat books and read Jane Austen, while also being ready to defend a stranger and get back at a bully easily. I think she reacted to things realistically and adjusted to her new life in a manner in which I expected. I was disappointed with the changes in Solange, although ecstatic to see so many of the Drake family and their respective others in this book--it’s great when you get to see the characters you love again. Overall this book is a fantastic read that I highly recommend with a cliff-hanger ending that leaves you open mouthed and thinking, “No!” It certainly wasn’t something I was expecting and I can’t wait for the next book to find out just what happens!

Once again this book picks up where the other one left off and is told from three different perspectives-Lucy, Connor, and Christabel (Lucy's cousin)This book is leading up to the Blood Moon, which is a political gathering of the vampire tribes that hasn't been called for in over a hundred years.Solange is getting weirder and weirder and actually kind of annoying. She won't talk to Lucy or Kieran anymore and is acting weird even for her brothers. She won't take off her sunglasses and her eyes are rimmed with blood. She kind of goes off the deep end in this book. Her pheromones are out of control...they even affect other vampires and her brothers which is completely unheard of in the vampire world. She seems to be obsessed with a vampire from another tribe named Constantine. He travels with blood slaves and even at one point in the book Solange borrows his blood slave.Lucy's cousin, Christabel comes to stay with them while her mother is in rehab. She starts off innocent and with no knowledge about the vampire world. She quickly gets a crash course when she is kidnapped by a new/old breed of vampires. They were trying to kidnap Lucy but snagged Christa instead. This breed of vampire has been around forever and has been confused for the Hel-blar and wanted to use the blood moon and the kidnapping as a way to be recognized as a new breed of vampire. Before getting kidnapped, Connor Drake falls for Christa in the way that only occurs in YA romance novels...hard and fast and for no real reason. So after Christa gets kidnapped, Connor goes to rescue her, thus getting kidnapped himself. Saga is the ruler of this new breed of vampire. She tells them the stories of how they came to be and what her plans are. She also tells them that she has an army of Hel-blar under her control that she will use if need be. Basically a battle ensues and Christa gets a stake to the chest. The only way to save her is to turn her into this new type of vampire. There is, of course, a big epic battle at the end when the Helios-Ra school goes to attack Saga and her tribe. The Drake brothers, Hunter, and Lucy come to intervene before an all out political war breaks out. To sum it up...good triumphs over evil and all is saved. The story ends with Christa surviving the blood change and successfully becoming this new vampire. Lucy decides she doesn't fit in anywhere anymore and decides to join the Helios-Ra school so she can find a way to defend herself. Right after the epic battle, Lucy gets a text from Solange to meet her at their oak tree and when Lucy arrives she sees Solange covered in blood and she tells Lucy it's Kierans....

4.5/5 StarsThe Drake Chronicles is my favorite guilty pleasure series. I love the snarky, witty banter, the very hot Drake brothers, and the vampire mythos that Alyxandra Harvey has created. Each entry into the series is an engaging and entertaining read. I think Bleeding Hearts though is tied with book number one for my favorite in the series. I loved that Lucy was back as one of the narrators. She continues to be my favorite character in the series, so it was great to get a peek into her world again. Reading Bleeding Hearts was like welcoming back my old friends and I was eager to read more about Lucy and Nicholas. (If Lucy ever breaks up with him, he's mine!:) In addition to Lucy's narration, we also get narration from Lucy's cousin Christabel and Conner Drake. Of course romance ensues, because what would a book in the Drake Chronicles be without some romance? Conner and Christabel are adorable and I liked both of them immediatly. Christabel is always found with a book in her hand, she's read the classics hundreds of times, she quotes poetry and she's waiting for Mr. Darcy. Conner is a Sci-Fi and Fantasy geek who knows Firefly, Star Trek and Doctor Who trivia, who can easily fix computers, and loves comic books. Together they love all my favorite things so how could I not root for them? There's a lot more than romance and Bleeding Hearts has plenty of twists and turns and surprises. Something strange is happening with Solange, there's a new tribe of vampires to deal with and Hel-Blar are on the loose. Lots of epic battles make this an action packed read. And that ending??? I need book five NOW!Give this series to fans of vampire stories with a bit of snark and romance. Even if you're feeling a bit burned out on paranormal, give this series a try. Alyxandra Harvey successfully combines action and romance with a bit ohick-lit and a dash of mystery. Another fantastic entry into the series!

This books was amazing. It was at least as good as the previous book, Out For Blood, which is my favorite in The Drake Chronicles series. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it because I didn't think Connor would be almost as amazing as Quinn, who is my favorite Drake brother. But Connor definitely gives Quinn a run for his money! Christabel, Lucy's cousin really fits into the story also! At first I kinda wished Chloe and Connor would end up together, although that might've been a little obvious. Christabel is way more awesome, with her love for poetry and novels. And she wears combat boots, which it totally cool! She and Connor are adorable together! The book was told from Connor, Christabel and Lucy's POV and I really liked that also. Lucy was hilarious as always. Hunter was in it several times too, but I have to say I missed her and Quinn in cute scenes together. There were some new characters. Christabel was one of them but there also was Saga and Aidan. I loved Aidan right away! Aidan Hawkfeather, such a lovely name! The book had a lot of unexpected turns too. Like Christabel turning into a vampire! So didn't see that coming. And I kept wondering what the hell was going on with Solange! I never really liked her but still... I didn't like the way she was acting, especially towards Kieran and Lucy! And who is Constantine?! Why is Solange so enthralled by him? The ending of the book was simply shocking! What happened to Kieran?! What did Solange do?! I hope he's okay... Cliffhangers are just a way for authors to torture their readers! I enjoyed this book so much I can't even describe my love for it. Alyxandra Harvey really did an excellent job, as always and I can't wait for the next one! 5 stars! ♥

The next book in the Drake Chronicles, Bleeding Hearts, hit shelves on Dec. 20, 2011. Written by Alyxandra Harvey, and published by Walker Books for Young Readers, it is a paranormal romance involving vampires. The Story: It’s time for Connor Drake to meet his love interest. Lucy’s cousin, Christabel, is in town, and doesn’t understand why everyone is so scared to go out at night. So, what’s a teen to do? She goes out of course, and straight into the arms of a vampire. Meanwhile, the Drake family has other problems. The Hel Blar, zombie like vampires, seem to be rallying under a new leader and attacking other vampires in droves. Solange Drake, still recovering from her transformation into a vamp, is still unbalanced. Lucy, her best friend, only wants to help. Of course, Nicholas Drake, Lucy’s boyfriend, tries to protect her. Keiran, Solange’s boyfriend, and Helios-Ra warrior doesn’t know what to do. And so the story goes.My thoughts: A really big mix of a lot of different characters, but hey, it works. I enjoy following the Drakes and their love interests through out all the books. This time, the story gets a little twist with Christabel. Nobody tells her what is going on, thinking to protect her. Of course, she just ends up in the middle of everything and her life hangs in the balance. This book in the series wasn’t quite as exciting as the previous book, Out For Blood. It feels more like a bridge book, filling in empty plot points before the next book. But, it is good fun. Plus, the ending is- wow! A total cliff hanger. It will definitely make you yearn for the next in the series. I can’t wait to find out what

Review can be found at:, it's no secret that I adore this series and I was ecstatic when my boyfriend got me a copy of Bleeding Hearts after waiting so long to read it. I was eager to start reading, but had other books to read first (I was just as excited to read these! So it was hard to chose which one to read first!) which meant I had to wait. Though I'm glad I did, because even though I got up at 6am to read this book this morning - it had been worth it. I am a huge fan of Christabel and her story and I honestly really like Connor. I usually have issues with the Drake Brothers (even if I don't mention them in the reviews) but I really like Connor - probably because I can relate him to my boyfriend... but not the point! Connor is a lovely, likeable, hot nerd... and vampire. But that doesn't matter. A new comer that I also really like are the new (well old!) vampire species introduced. Adrian, I adored. There was something different about him, and I like where his story line went. Saga on the other hand? Nope. I had missed Lucy so much in the previous two books as I adore her character, so it was great to see things through her eyes once more! That and I cannot deny myself some Nicholas - who can? As expected Harvey produced an amazing addition to The Drake Chronicles - if she creates another novel as amazing we will not be disappointed! My ONLY complaint is, I have to wait for book five to come out... But hey, it'll be worth the wait!

I was so mad when I realized that the latest installment to the Drake series was not from the p.o.v. of Lucy and Nicholas. But, seeing as this book included Lucy's p.o.v. I think that was enough to get me to the next one which Harvey says will be from Lucy and Nick. Back to this one though: there was never a dull moment, not even in the beginning when most novels take a long time just to outline the plot. Raging teenage hormones, geek chic, literary allusions, things AND 'people' being blown up and dying (sometimes more than once)--what more could a girl ask for in her YA? Harvey has yet to disappoint me when introducing new characters. Even when the girls aren't the smartest or the strongest physically , it doesn't seem to keep them from getting just as involved in the chaos that surrounds the 'Royal Family.' Christabel is no exception to the rule. Lucy's cousin is just as snarky, and protective of her friends and family making her totally relatable; which makes her perspective fresh & fun to read. 4 stars Harvey!!

I would give this 1 1/2 stars. I really didn't like it very much. The whole book just didn't feel like it flowed like the others. First off, what the heck is Lucy doing going to Helios-Ra Academy? Even though they are working together, this still feels wrong. And Christabel was just a weak character to me. I'm hoping she's not in future books. Probably my main disappointment was Solange. What the heck? It's just my opinion, but I feel like you should keep one of the main characters inherently good. The changes to her have completely ruined this series for me. Having said that this book has received really good reviews from other readers. So I probably missed the boat as I was reading this. I have the 5th book, but I think I will hold off awhile to read it. And when I do read it, if Solange is still the same I'm throwing it out the window. And unfortunately I have the book on my kindle, so Alyxandra will totally owe me a new kindle. :)

Another great book in the series.Y'know how sometimes you've read so many intense books that you just want a light read? Yet you don't feel like a regular romance only book, you do want some adventure and action of a fantasy world, too? Alyxandra Harvey's books are exactly that.Short (287pgs), light, action filled, full of bad-ass characters, hot brothers, no love triangle dramas, and set in a world that has nothing to do with ours, these books are such a perfect escape and pretty much impossible to pick on.

I really loved this book and Chistabel reminded me a lot of myself because I also love ❤️ poetry and wearing combat boots . I related to her a lot based on her personality and style . I really enjoyed the book and I was sad that it ended .I know there's a lot more books in that series and it sort of ended in a cliffhanger and now I just want to continue the books in the series .

Wow, these Drake boys are amazing and so swoony.... They always have time for a good kiss even if they are being held hostage, being chased by Hel-Bar (bad vampires) or have just staked a Hel-Bar!!This series is always a good, light hearted read with action, romance, vampires and vampire hunters.
